You did an amazing job! Great tips! I bought the Pro30 yesterday. It was intimidating inthe beginning. I wish that I had watched this video first. I did however, incorporate some of the changes that you mentioned. Thank!
You did great just me a pro30 today and i was having a lil trouble with the skimmer tube, did not know why it was loose and not snuged thank you your video really helped i will be getting the xtra sponges and ceramic bio rings on its next maintains 👍
There has been a issue since I released this video. The medium grade sponge would clog faster than stock. I will look at other options that will lessen the time needed to clean the sponge while also filtering out fine debris. Any tips would help out! For now I put the stock sponge back and took our modded sponge as the exhaust dampener. (Basically switched places). So far it’s pretty good but not the outcome I was looking for. Will do a nice comparison video vs the aquaclear soon so stick around!
The stock sponge is just fine. I use the stock sponge and my water is crystal clear. If you’re really chasing crystal clear, I’d try poly fill in the return where you put the stock sponge
I just got one today and didn’t realize the pink part is out of the water. Do I need to worry about a leak. I had the Fluval version that did leak at the pump. That was 2 hobs ago. I am on my 6th and I keep my tank and filters clean. I have to it is a mystery snail tank.
For the pump, as long as the gasket is still intact and clean I see not issues arising. If you think there is a problem, I suggest cleaning the pump and the gasket. Maybe even re-lubing the gasket/ replace the gasket if it doesn't look good.
I have a question! I have a 20 gallon tank and u have adjusted the tube to be lower but the protein skimmer still isn’t really sitting on the water it’s like maybe an inch on top. It’s for a turtle tank, so I don’t want to add more water because it’s already high up and he has a floating dock there That’s already high. Will this be much of a problem?
You did good but try to not assume we know anything and finish your thoughts all the way at end I could not understand what you saying about that pop up thing in water and you stumbled in words thoughts and never really explained what that thing pop in water is for ..thank you. you smart young man speak with confidence dude you smart plz sound like it so people can see your smartness better ;) thank you
It’s pretty quite after a few hours. Comparing to the aquaclear, it’s pretty much similar in noise level when I swapped them out. There is that problem like the aquaclear where the lid rattles. But after sometime time it also settles down or you can put something like fish food on top of the lid seems to help. I also switched out the trickle slot to the slit slot because of the noise.
To be honest any kind of media in a filter is useless. Been doing fish keeling for 23 years. Once your tank cycled fully the media is just wasted space. It doesnt do anything. You have more bio filtration in the substrate than any canister or hang on back filter. I suggest you just put mechanical filters in all compartments. Thats what i do. I have one of these i dont like th3 trickle noise they make.. should have made the water exit at water level like old hang on backs.. so it doesnt drop down and create trickle.. thats my only complaint. I suggest you change the positions of those filters. Put the coarse sponge in first to catch big stuff. Then remove the media and put the finer sponge there and then put a polishing pad on top
The second filter was just used to show the setup in the video but having too much biofiltration is better than having not enough. It was moved to a new tank afterwards. You are right though, trickle was a bit loud so i did change it back to the slit. I noticed that the flow of water isn't bottom up so having the mechanical filtration in the slot is the most optimal.

I got rid of my skimmer
I didnt see a purpose to it. If anything your loosing suction.
Nice set up!

I was going to comment the same thing about switching the green and white sponges.

good job buddy. i have question. what is the those small pieces tube ?
Nice

And to add to that the minimum line is already sitting high than the water, again maybe around an inch
Can this filter works on a 10 gallon tank?
I wouldn't see why not since the intake length is adjustable. Having a bigger thank would be better though.

Thank you for this video, because the instructions that comes with it are not clear.
It’s crazy loud
How’s the noise on it ????

Theyre really quiet. Quieter thab marineland filters by far and way quieter than aquaclear filters which are noisy to me.

Is it still doing good for you?
Holding up great. Easy cleaning and not too strong against fry or shrimps on a lower setting. Sound is relatively the same.
It's a little loud
It takes some time to quiet down. You can put something on the lid do weigh it down or add some foam spacers between the gap.
