    Thank you so much!!! This was so helpful! I got an aquarium for the first time and nowhere in the instructions did it say to *fill the filter with water first*, which is where I was going wrong. Thanks so much!

    I have that filter. When it was time to change the cartridge, I replaced it with a filter sponge. Everytime you toss the cartridge, your also removing beneficial bacteria. I also added a sponge prefilter to the intake.

    I got this same filter in a ready to run kit that came with a 5gallon tank, I hooked up the filter added the water in the reservoir and it ran for maybe 2 minutes tops then shut back off and hasn’t came back on, it’s been over 2 hours now…. Maybe mine is defective?

    I had a hand-me down filter (I'm a beginner fish owner) and noticed the water would get super murkey after a day or so-even using the filter. I was so excited to use this "fountain" filter and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much for your class at CZcams university 🤣🤣

      The water was getting murky because your ammonia was spiking, you were over feeding your fish, you were overstocked on fish in your tank, you were changing the filter in it too often(every month is absolutely wrong, but hey, thats how the manufacturer gets you spend more money). This is NOT a "fountain" filter. This is called a Hang on back.

    Right after I change the filter the filter runs very quietly. But I notice as days go by (and I'm assuming the filter becomes dirtier) it begins to run a little more noisy. Is this normal?

      You can "bounce" the pipe in the filter while it's plugged in. IDK why it works, but it does. But, yes, ALWAYS prime a Hang on Back Filter. But, even if it's primed, they can sometimes have a hard time starting to flow. Bounce that pipe that hooks over into the box, it'll start.

    • @kcaninja
      @kcaninja Před 28 dny

      definitely not!! some fish you could get for a 10 gal would be a betta, or smaller schooling fish like tetras or guppies.

    Oh God haha, I totally thought mine was broken because I didn’t give it enough time to cycle the water through and get the air out. Thought I got a defective one and was burning up the motor by letting it run 😩

    • @ReichpoloTech
      @ReichpoloTech  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yeah it can appear that way. Priming it by pouring water into the filter, speeds up the process. Thanks for the comments.

    LOL, that's not what the blue thing is. It's supposed to be something for the beneficial bacteria to cling to, much the way ceramic rings or plastic bioballs work. It's okay for beginners, but most seasoned aquarists would remove that entirely and just put rings in instead. That tank is also WAYYYY to small for those fish. You HAVE to have 10 gallons MINIMUM for two gold fish. You CANNOT have TWO goldfish in ONE 10 gallon.
