    I think it's worth mentioning that the visuals in the film were achieved almost entirely by practical effects. It wasn't water tinted with a digital effect, it was 50,000 gallons of stage blood pumped through a rain machine for example. The only thing CGI or digital effects were used for was to add in extra fire or to remove wires and equipment used to make the practical effects.

    • @matthewhearn9910
      @matthewhearn9910 Před 4 lety +107

      I actually just realized this myself: I saw it in the first ever audience test screening, in Orange, CA, with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell in the audience with me. Digital effects are *never* done when they do that phase of test screening, but what I saw was identical to the unrated version of the film.

      @@tricursor2481 Well no, that's why CGi became so common. Way cheaper to pay one guy to make a CGI model than to pay dozens to pull off a safety monitored live action prop.

    Having been a heroine addict myself and having gone cold turkey before this movie had an entirely different feeling and meaning to me.... this was precisely the feeling of withdrawal in horror and was an amazing composition. Though I do have wished they could have made it its own thing as opposed to a remake. And thats why I agree with the director probably wanting to do his own thing while Sam rami pulled him back because it did really feel like he wanted to take withdrawal and mix it into horror and it turned into 'Evil Dead somehow. I liked the movie. I think some of the things people thought were supposed to be "super scary" were actually meant to be kind of silly, like the chainsaw scene at the end. Everyone in the theater was either squirming or laughing with excitement (there were lots of ED fans in there). I enjoyed it for what it was. I would be interested to see what their idea for a sequel would be.

    Also, why are there sooooo many special editions of Evil Dead? I have just the trilogy on Blu-Ray. Do you get anything special in any of them? :)
    As for the remake, yeah, I'll still give it a look :) I'd rather watch a Splatterhouse Gorefest rather than just some jumpscare-obsessed found-footage horseshit with loud noises, like the Blair Witch remake or whatever.
    ......Frauds!

    • @simonmcnamee619
      @simonmcnamee619 Před 5 lety +5

      There are so many special editions because there's a distinct fan base of Evil Dead, and there's a niche brand recognition of it as a franchise - which means there's always 1. people ready to get into it, and 2. dipshits who will buy everything with the name slapped on it because they're that attached to it. I'm not knocking either group - I'm a dipshit myself, but it is merely an accounting decision.
