- Happy late Valentine's Day! Witness what I consider a fail at this challenge, and no, I won't be offended if you feel distaste for this artwork as I do. In fact, it is like pink threw up on the page!
We have created this mess of an art piece with only pink supples-mind you, we are not using ALL of my pink supplies, but there's definitely a variety. Here is an attempt at the list of supples I used in this video:
Faber Castell Polychromos
Faber Castell Albrecht Durer
Derwent Inktense (just Fuschia)
Holbein Colored Pencils
Stabilo Fineliners
Grabie Metallic Watercolors
Blick Studio Brush Markers
Artistro Acrylic Paint Markers
White Gel Pen
Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper
Hopefully I didn't forget anything! If you'd like to see me do this challenge with different colors in the future, let me know!

Well, even with your "oopses," this was fun to watch and still turned out pretty neat. I've thought of doing one-color challenges with "all" my supplies, but I don't want to put them away afterwards, lol. I'll just keep watching you and others do it instead. ♥️
Oh they’re just so fun though! But using *all* the supplies is intimidating for sure. I’m glad you enjoyed it!💕 In retrospect it was a lot of fun
You know how to capture amazing beauty with pencils and paints. You're doing great. You are very talented! 🙂🤝👍
Thank you so much, and of course, thank you for watching:)
Happy Belated Valentine's Day! I don't think it is a fail, just trying this challenge is a win. I miss trying this color challenge.
Happy belated Valentines, and thats true, now looking back I had a really good time with this😂 lets do more this year!
Single colour challenges look so hard to do! I actually think the artwork is pretty cool, and it is like an alien rose with magenta leaves haha! Hands really are just the most exasperating things to draw; they never look right when I try to do them! 😂
It is quite alien now that I look back at it😂 who knew how difficult this would be.. ill have to think about which color to try next! I definitely need more practice with hands also😭
Happy Valentine's!! I love the creativity. I don't think you fail unless you fail to try
You’re right, I’m considering it more of a success at being a challenge than anything😂
looks nice even with lack of major contrast 😀more colour challenges would be nice too
Color challenges are always pretty fun.. and thank you! This was quite an artwork😂
It is surreal. I love it!
thank you, it was lots of fun:)
It still came out beautiful
Thank you💕
Hiya Alexis! long time listener, first time poster! have you ever heard of the restaurant chilis?? I have written a detailed outline describing a proposal. So you are there, you get interviewed and you go through the hiring process, and pose as a chef, BUT not just any chef, like you dont know anyTHING! about cooking. So from there the hilarity ensues....... you try to fry salad, you make a sandwich with scrambled eggs as the bread, you burn everything, maybe pour water all over every plate that you serve with the food on it, and then at the end of it all.... you get frustrated and storm out of the kitchen. Think about it, sincerely your biggest fan, the mickster.
I think its awesome
Thank you💕😆
I think the hand could've benefitted from having a darker hue to the rose/leaves, to give it more contrast. Aside from that it still looks really good!
At least you learnt something for next time!
I agree!! Definitely could’ve used some more contrast. A fun piece though regardless!!🌷
Nobody ever posts failures. Which is too bad, because seeing how you tried to work out the puzzle was really instructive. I kept looking for black. Why couldn't you use black?
Exactly! Yes, maybe since I allowed white I should’ve allowed black also- kept in mind for my next color challenge!
Add blood and claws. Blood and claws fixes everything.
Absolutely perfect😂
Alexis, Thanks for all your great videos! I always enjoy them. I was hoping you could answer two questions for me. 1. I know that you have both the Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran Dache Pablo sets. You had mentioned in your video when you unboxed the Pablos that they seemed to lay down more color. My understanding is that both of these pencils are firmer making them good for fine detail work. If this is the case, do you have a preference on one of these? Everyone uses the PC but if the Pablos seem to have more color, it makes me lean to them. I’m looking for a pencil set that can give me fine detail to layer over my base layers that are done with Prismacolor Premiere Pencils( for my own hobby, not to sell). For example, I did a fox recently and needed a harder pencil than my Prismacolors to do the fine details in the fur. Or, and this may be the answer that I don’t want to hear, do you feel both sets are useful and not duplicates of each other. Hopefully this makes sense.
2. I’m wondering as you’ve worked with a few of the Holbein pencils, do you feel they get too waxy as you put down more layers limiting your ability to add more layers? Thanks so much for your thoughts!!!!
Thank you for your comment! I will try to answer those questions as best I can!
I used to use solely Prismacolors and had issues with fine details. Polychromos (out of all the pencils I've tried) are by far the best for fine detail and stays sharp longest. You can use them to layer larger areas too, but it takes quite a few layers compared to Prismacolors. While the Pablos are a harder lead pencil than the Prismacolors, they don't glide across the paper quite the same as the Polys do. To me, its important the way the pencil glides as I'm creating fine hair or fur strokes (or other very careful details!)
I'd say its still best to buy a couple of each open stock(blick or jacksons if you can't find them anywhere locally) before buying a big set to see if you even like the feel of the pencils. It might come down to individual preference! Polys and Pablos feel very different to me.
Second question, I think that the Holbein pencils have a unique feel. I hear they contain something different(a fat of some sort) and so they don't feel waxy the way prismas do or oil-based the way Polys do. I don't think they layer as well as Polys (you can do like 1000 layers with polys lol) and I must have done around 3 layers when I practiced with them. Then again, I only have the 12 pastel set of Holbeins, and those colors aren't great to practice layering. I might need to expand my collection and explore Holbeins further!
@@AlexisCassandraArt You are awesome!!! Thank you so so so much for taking the time to provide me with this thorough answer! It is so appreciated!!!
Just say AI created the hand.
