    Hey, I've ordered a couple of Lonsonho-branded models of this switch (looks identical, same Tuya platform etc.) I just wondered if you knew if a 2 or 3 gang switch could be used to control a physical light and a smart light. Let me expand; in our lounge we have two ceiling pendants and some Hue-powered wall lights. At present there is a physical 2-gang switch and a Hue Tap on the wall controlling each element. My plan was to wire in a 3-way version of this switch, with two of the switches controlling the physical lights and the third a "logical" switch linked to the Hue lights. The only downfall I could see is if the third switch needs a switched live to activate it or if the unit simply having power from the other two gangs will suffice.

      @@GeekStreet thanks for the reply. My Lonsonho-branded switches turned up today (they are the same X71X a devices as yours, the last X signifies the number of gangs so I think yours were X711 and mine are X712 and X713 for 2 and 3 gang respectively). I connected the 3 gang up today but could not get it to pair with my deCONZ gateway (and don't really want a 3rd party gateway) but I'm wondering if I had my wiring wrong because both switches turned on both lights in my room but if I used switch 1 they stayed on but if I used switch 2 they came on briefly then turned off. There was a also a really annoying buzzing from the capacitor in the light fitting.
      Did you fit the capacitor and do you hear any noise from it?
      I've ordered a live wire detector from Amazon to make sure I have my switched lives the right way round (I assumed they were correct at the switch but best to double check). I had to put two wires into common and then one each of the switched lives into L1 and L2 for each light fitting.

    • @jonathanthomson5000
      @jonathanthomson5000 Před 4 lety

      Almost certainly got my wiring back to front - on the switch I took off, red was in L1 and black in common so I wired it the same in the switch - it worked but not correctly, so I presume (but will wait for my tester to arrive) that actually, red is common and black is L1/switched live (as per various wiring diagrams I've seen since). I wonder if the capacitor buzzing was related to this.

    I have several rooms where I am interested in fitting these, for reference I'm in Ireland so the setup and regulations would be similar to you. My halls are of particular concern though and I was wondering if you knew what way if at all they could work. I have an upstairs and downstairs hall. upstairs there are 2 single switches to turn on and off the the upstairs light. Downstairs there are also 2 single switches for the downstairs light. At the bottom of the stairs though there is a double switch where 1 switch does upstairs and 1 does downstairs. My question which I'm hoping you may have an idea on is how would these operate if I was to replace all of the switches in the hall. The result would be that I would have 3 of these on each light.
    Can they operate that way? Is there interference? If I switch on the upstairs light from from the double, would the 2 singles know the light is on and know that the next press of the switch would be to turn off the light.
    All of my switches have no neutral so these are looking to be the best option I can see.

    Why put "WiFi" in the title of a video about a Zigbee switch? WiFi and Zigbee may operate on similar frequencies, but are very different animals. A "geek" channel like this one should know the difference (most Amazon/eBay sellers don't).
