Salt water and electronics rarely mix and the ocean is not friendly with our gear. Things are constantly breaking or rusting apart. These are a few of the things we hope to get to keep bringing Sailing Zephyr to you.

A waterspout will continue on to shore and become a tornado that is what a waterspout is, it"s a water tornado

Hi Guys. Do you mind me asking a serious Question ? Background for it - a contact friend was a Solar Panel Tester, based in Florida, and due to him experiencing issues with Polycrystalline Panels, I agreed to slot at least one into my Monocrystalline ones, to see if there has been a major improvement in their Service Life, because every one he had tested, had died between the 6 and 7 year mark? Unfortunately my last Sailboat went down in 2016, or the Polycrystalline Panel would be 8 years old now. Hence my question - How are your Polycrystalline Panels hanging in there ?, In extremely good news, Monocrystalline Panels have dropped Substantially in Price and now look to be giving much more power out to thirty years and more due to the approx 180% more Silver in them. Efficiencies are now even up to 25% . There were so many things I was going to test on that last Sailboat of mine. Sigh. Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

Some potentially useful Money Saving ideas :
Boat Charter Companies service their Sailboat engines every three months right? So how about using Really high quality Synthetic engine oil such as Mobil One which is cheap in the USA and which takes a hell of a long time to break down structurally - Golden Film Synthetic is at least as good in the UK,and stock up with really good quality Pattern Oil Filters, which are very low cost, and change the Oil Filters every three months either drain the oil from the old filter to fill up the new, or boost the oil structure by filling the filter with new oil? In Testing of Mobil One, not changing the oil for 100,000 miles in Heavy Goods Vehicles, when stripped down and measured, no discernible internal engine wear was measured. Personally, I’d change the oil at the two year mark, and send a sample of the old oil off for analysis, just to be on the safe side?
Expensive Zinc Anodes? Why not paint them with three Coats of 97% Cold Galvanising Paint, and paint the propeller blades and through hulls as well? The paints for use on Land, are identical to the Marine paint and are a hell of a lot cheaper. Commercial Fishing Boats have been using it successfully as antifouling on their propellers for decades, but it also works as an Anode.🤔
Engine Water Pump impellers? They have the plasticiser leech out, leaving them losing softness and going brittle, so the blades snap off and if they go into the engine internals, you have a problem. So to start with, I intend to change the impeller at six months instead of a year, compare the feel and flexibility with the new one, then paint the six months old one with Fishing Fly Line Conditioner, and let the Conditioner work its way into the impeller, and pop it into a sealable bag for storage. The impeller should be back to its original flexibility . Not sure if it’s worth trying this with Outboard motor impellers, as it’s normally a much bigger job to change them?Ask for the old ones back if you have the service work done for you, and freshen them back up as spares with Fly line Conditioner ? As it is not a Marine Product, Flyline Conditioner is pretty cheap.
Pettit do Cold Galvanising Paint and it’s a hell of a lot more expensive than the Cold Galvanising Paint aimed at Farmers. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️⛵️
