thanks👍🏼
I love that you just make it about the best. Not like the top 5 or top 10 to force you to include or exclude some knives. So you can really naturally talk about the ones that really come to yout mind.
I enjoy those every time. Keep it up.
I would love to see a special update, a best of all time list. What are your favorite fixed, folders, etc of all time.
Not a bad idea.
+gideonstactical we definitely need to see what's stayed in the collection over the years and what has been moved or replaced with something different
@@gideonstactical it would be a great excuse to run some of your favorites head to head. I'm here for it!
Maybe tops dart 2 will be near the tops of the list... Get it tops of the list 😂
Fixed blades are much better than broken ones
These are some of my favourite videos Aaron
Cheers mate
LOVE when you post these videos for the year. Thanks for doing all the research. Great recommendations here.
Great list....
some of my faves.
Jeffrey Prather did it right with the War Bowie. He gives a Bowie Seminar at his Warrior School in Tucson. Mumma Bear and I took the class and it’s worth the trip.
I’ve taken my PWB on many back country trips and has never failed as a camp knife, or kitchen knife. Can get so sharp it will cut you just by looking at it 😉
But the best thing about this knife is the amount of knife-envy that it creates in everyone near you when you use it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yesss I've been waiting for this list!
Hey Aaron thanks for all the videos you make ! My sons and I watch all the time!
Very very, good channel. I'm from Germany and the channels are only half as good as the Americans. Although I do not understand much, I subscribed to this channel because he is very well presented and really professional
Get vid as usual you have helped me pick out great gear for a couple years now thanks
Great vid lots of good stuff. Keep them coming.
Great review and very informative! Thanks for that.
Thanks for another year of honest insightful reviews, bro.
Aaron great video keep um coming as always be safe an have a blessed day.
Great Video Gideonstactical👍👍
Great video. You make the best knife videos.
I got my Camp Creek in a few days ago. Haven't gotten it out into the field yet, but it is itching to go someplace more than the back yard. It jumps into your hand and asks to chop stuff up. 👍
Great video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Best knife I picked up in 2018... TOPS Brakimo. I love this thing.
Closing in on another year-end-
Thanks for the channel and the related efforts and content -
18:54... that backdrop ~
All good knives, but I really like the looks of the Hogue. They have some nice designs, and I REALLY like the looks of the EX-F01 with cocobolo scales. They are one of those knife makers that kind of fly under the radar. That and that Prather War Bowie..what a bad ass looking blade profile! I am in love with it! So cool looking.
Yup, been waiting for the “best of” videos, I’m surprised that the Cold Steel Warcraft 3v didn’t make this list.
Got mine delivered before Christmas.... Wanted one ever since I subscribed and heard you talking about it. definitely Saber ground....feels good in the hand but needs a wrap ala Wilson.
Chops 2x4's fast and came razor sharp. Thanks for the heads up!
NICE!!! I started to order the ESEE 4 earlier but watched a video and read a bunch of comments where people were claiming it was trash which had me hesitant to order it...now I think I will pull the trigger and get the ESEE 4HM
Thank you so much for pronouncing "bowie knife" correctly.
I like that it's not like top 10 or top 5 or whatever. It's just whatever he wants to put on the video...nice change.
Would love to see a best of the best for the past 10 years for fixed blade survival knives.
A very useful video....
Hey Aaron, It would be great fun to see a video on your best of the best Fixed Blades for the past say 5 years? maybe 10? What would you choose as the number one, two & three over that long period. great job I enjoy your reviews.
I just bought one of 3 of the discontinued Spyderco Pygmy Warrior's that the store had left, yesterday.
It's the cats ass!! And was 200 not 450-500. Love it!!!
Great list!!
THE RAIDER BOWIE IS MY FAV BIG BOY! SOME STUPID FOR NEXT TOO NOTHING!!!
I just bought the Prather. Going to have to see about that Kydex sheath.
Recently picked up the SP-10. It is my new favorite for do anything outdoors. It was perfectly sharp for bushwork, but I will be putting a convex edge on it for more use options. It needs a spot filed on the back for a 90° edge for a ferro rod, but it is an amazing beast for the money. #mindboggling
Been loving the esee pr4
I really enjoy your videos, especially knife reviews. I would love to see you do a video of "The Best Of" fixed blades comparing the top three from the past five years, or something along those lines. There are so many knife reviews it can make my head spin keeping up with the latest and greatest.. The Tops BOB for ex. was highly touted as a great design, but you don't hear much about it now, as people want to see the latest blades on the market.
Good job again. When I buy my next Esee, I'll use your hyperlink.
ESSE Izulu -2 (skinning) and ESSE #6 (wood cutting and defense) are my choices. However, if I could own only one it would be an ESSE #4. Shaving sharp using a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Combat knives are rarely serrated. The serrations catch on bone and make extraction difficult, or so I’ve been told.
Great concept 👍
Comment about each blade is being supported with video in real-life usage.
Man you hit on my favorite fixed blade knife makers! Tops and Esee! I have several of each and none has let me down! I'm thinking of the Frog Market Special for my next Tops knife. Esee is a favorite for their quality and their awesome warranty.
Multi-"attachemal"?... Love it! Good vid
Awesome review video of top fixed blade Knifes of the year. I'm an big Ontario company fan Aaron. Also i will check out TOPS Knifes too Sir
18:44 unbelievably gorgeous scenery. i lived in hawaii for 10 years but i still think forest river mountain n lake terrains are the most beautiful
i would love to hear what you think about gil hibdon knives. especially the sidewinder knife
Aaron, I love the tops prather Bowie also! I own it and I totally agree with you on everything you said about it!! Thanks for all the videos you have done for us!
P.S. I would love to have the knife in a different steel and/or finish. I definitely would buy it, hands down!
And the winners are:
Terava Jääkäripuukko 110 & 140⚔️
⚔️⚔️⚔️BOOM⚔️⚔️⚔️
and Skrama
Skrama is a great chopper their knives, have the same great steel but that's the only good thing I have found about them. PS they look cool too but IMHO they have many issues.
pretty much!
@@greekveteran2715 Such as? Their QC is not great when it comes to aesthetics, but who cares if the grind lines are even or if there are mould lines on the handle? For the money they punch way above their weight. I've been collecting knives for 20 years and the Jääkäripuukko 140 is the best bang for the buck I've ever seen in a fixed blade.
@@howard2501 My 110s grind lines are uneven, the microbevel wasn't a micro bevel but a bevel that any saber grind has.Actually the blade is a saber grind and not a high scandi as I thought it would be.The handle is very thin and tall,so you can't work for more than a couple of minutes before your hands get fatigued.Their sheaths leather is so soft that it got a hole, the first time I carried the knife on my side.Probably
I hit something accidentally but that wasn't supposed to happen to a leather sheath so easy. I also collect and use knives since 1989 and for me,that's not the best bank for your bucks knife. It can be, only if you want a knife to use it as a pry bar, there I agree,it shines!
Someone needs to post the entire list in the comments. Time stamps would be great too.
Brian Mccann are you lazy?
Be the change you want to see, man.
You should do a big battle between winners of each year and see what is the best knife of all times
For 2019, you need to get your mittens on the Benchmade 200 Puukko. I got one last month and have been using it, and it is absolutely fabulous.
Steve Smith it should be here soon
It’s a mora save yourself 150 and buy a mora
Yeah got mine right after i saw the dbk video has become my fav blade.
Matt Baker .. Agreed nothing better for the money. I also like the older model Becker 2 for the price. A beast for a cheap price.
@@gideonstactical Awesome! You'll love it!
You forgot to mention mine, I make them myself. They're so sharp I can shave all my pubes off with one fell swoop. I sell them too, pubes not included....unless requested.
Hook it up with some pubes
Love your videos man! You need to look at the “Terava Jaakaripuukko” it’s a amazing blade from Finland! Keep up the great work
Does he even review knifes not from US manufacturers?
@@nervsouly did you even watch the video? it had a knife from sweden in it
He also reviewed the skrama from the same company you mentioned (not gonna try to spell it, haha). I do think #gideonstactical would probably like the jaakaripukko. An overbuilt version of a Mora.
knife #7 Finally a knife!! bout time we see some quality!
whats a relief edge?
Wow!!! That Gerber looks incredible... can it really cut through Apple???
Does the gerber gator knives rust like a high carbon would? I know its typically better but would like a hunter for next year that is a tad smaller blade size than the esee 4 stainless steel. Also is it full tang?
Yes the gerber is full tang, and the s30v will be much more rust resistant than 1095 or other HC blades.
Just a suggestion. Maybe do a best of from the past maybe 3 or 4 years. That would probably be a lot of work, but it sure would be interesting!!! Great vid as always👍👍
Knockaround sunglasses are cool
I would love to see you test some Condor Knives. I would like the moonshiner, stratos, crotalas and more. I love your videos and reviews are awesome. Thank you
The best of videos are one of my favorite each year. I have a Marine Raider Bowie I bought back in the 90’s sometime but they are priced so inexpensively maybe I’ll buy a new just to see the difference. Any chance Aaron you’ll be doing a review on the Bk Ka-Bar Kephart or BK62 knife? As a Kephart devotee I’d be interested in your opinion as a camp knife.
I've been waiting for this video all year. Sad, I know.
okc sp-10 raider bowie has jumped to over 55 bucks now...
What’s the difference between a Scandi & a Sabre grind?
Do you still like your ka-bar turok. I would love to have that prather. Sick looking blade!
KaBar:
Globetrotter
Turok
Choppa
unbeatable with the balance of price and quality. also made in USA
hey Aaron totally love your channel, your enthusiasm is awesome .
Going to have to get a "gerber gator" one of these days
I love my PWB!
The T.O.P.S. Stryker is a bit smaller, but one of my favorite do all knives.
IMO the best TOPS knives are the D.A.R.T. and the HOG 4.5...
the DART is the best chopper I have ever used: compact enough to wear on your belt, perfect handel, perfect balance and a recurve that creates a big sweet spot for chopping. If your sharpening skills are good enough to sharpen a recurve blade this is one of the best do it all knives under 200$
Are you going to review the operator 7?
Well done Arron .. Looks like it would be really uncomfortable making shavings with your thumb on top of the saw part of the Steel Eagle Delta, more so without a glove.. I've tried that and for me it was too uncomfortable.. But you are an expert and know what you are doing.. Great review..
I would buy the tops knife, but I had the tops TSK. The edge chipped way too easily under light use, and the grind was uneven. I contacted tops about it, and they blew me off saying that they would "resharpen it" but that wouldn't fix it. I won't be buying Tops anymore
Have you reviewed any PKS knives?
Tops Camp Creek, on my list to buy.
Entrek 18 Bravo S.E.R.E. Dedicated Fixed Blade Knife (5.875" Gray)
EnTrek Close Combat MKII Knife D/E Tactical Fixed Blade (7" Black Plain)
EnTrek 11 Bravo Fixed Blade Knife (4.75" Bead Blast Plain)
EnTrek Forester Knife Fixed Blade w/ Micarta Handle (3.5" Plain)
EnTrek Destroyer Large Fixed Blade Knife (8.75" Bead Blast Plain)
A Tops knife may be next on my list! I hear nothing but good things so far.
War bowie in A2 would be nice
My fav fixed blade is crkt du Hoc karambit!!!!
how bout a review on winkler jaeger
Choosing a carry blade is not well understood by most. It all comes down to what you will honestly be using it for and how often you'll use it. Something like a kabar is a good general use knife.
You should get your hands on a tops operator 7!!!
Jesse Schmidt will be review it soon
No Kabar Jarosz Turok? I'm surprised it didn't make this list after all you said during the review...
B. DUB that was in last years video. These are only the ones from 2018
What cap are you wearing in this video ? Keep up the good work !
I think it is by the company Kuhl? He mentioned it in a video way back, but I do remember what video, lol.
Where did you say the Gerber is made?
knife #4 What is with the rubberized handles? KNIFE COMPANY"S STOP THAT!
the rubber grips on knives always deteriorates over a short amount of time.
Otherwise it looks like a great knife.
knife #3 Sept for the rubberized handle its probably a good survival knife.
yessssssssss
@16:48 what the HECK happened to your thumb man. Which knife did this?? I'd like to buy one.
I was looking at buying the ESEE-4hm or the Ontario SK-5 I think I’m going to get the ESEE-4hm
Rouge-eastskier I would, better sheath better ergos, though I prefer the 154cm in this size range, the 1095 is good on Esee knives.
gideonstactical thanks for responding and for the information
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Everytime i see your videos i think im watching a little brady kid
I bent the steel eagle 111a when battoning
The tops operator 7 is thicker than the steel eagle and has a finer edge
@Aaron did you totally forget about the phenomenal SOG PILLAR fixed blade knife having the CPM S35VN stainless steel?
BLADE LOVER it was in the 2017 video
Are you allergic to bark river knives? Take it up a notch!
Love my ontario 1st gen sp10 and my hogue ex-f01 7in blade, far better knife than the ex f02 you reviewed check em out....
I've had an sp10 since 1994 or so.
Still a beast.
Was I right are all the TOPS knives on here
Anybody tried RD TANTO ranger series from Ontario??
Some specs
Knife length 12
Blade length 7
5160 53-55rc
Micarta
0.25 thickness and carries all the thickness almost to the tip
530grams weight
It looks like a very good knife.but nobody put it to the test!!
Hey guys, if you've too manage, would ya ever help out a Vet (living at the "recognized poverty level" for over 20yrs-can't work to change it!) by passing some kindness forward?? Get back w/me if you can. Thanks for your clips-take care, "GOD Bless", sincerely Randy Clendenin.
Why have you never reviewed the BM 162 bushcrafter?!
1 is that it's an old design and 2 it doesn't perform as well as some of the newer designs
Do a best of the best video next. I'm sure there are 2017 knives that are better than 2018 knives.
Gerber ☹️ tops 😁Ontario 😁 Hogue 😁 Mora 😁 Esee 😁 winner tops camp creek s35vn for $150 what a beauty and a great sheath 😍
I know its not on the list but Benchmade puukko is around 120 dollors and ita made with 3v
knife #2 Gerber.'s quality has been going down ever since the 90s. any of you remember when they had a contract with the US government to produce spec ops fighting knives?
