    L/S The abbey. M/S (elevated) roof work and spires tilt down to two monks walking in the direction of the abbey. M/S Monk working on the garden outside the abbey. M/S His face and shaved head. M/S Digging the soil. L/S Monk working on a beehive. M/S Monk looking at the open hive swarming with bees prior to spraying it with a powder. C/U Bees swarming inside the hive. C/U Monk's face with net protector over it. C/U Removing one of the honeycombs. M/S Another monk feeding chickens. M/S Another monk spinning silk from a cocoon, he walks round to the other side of the spinning machine and starts the mechanism.
    M/S Monk (Don Edmund) watching cocoons bouncing in the water as the thread is spun off. C/U Cocoons. M/S The large bobbins taking up the tread. M/S Another monk finishing off a wood carving. C/U Chiselling the finer parts of the face out. M/S Another monk working on a partly made tapestry. C/U Showing how he uses a fork to press down the warp. C/U Using only the shears on his head and leaving only the small band of hair. C/U The shears as he continues. M/S Monk ringing the bell for prayers.
    M/S Monk who is spinning silk thread from the cocoons hears the bell and stops the machine. He gets up and leaves the room. M/S Two monks working in the vegetable garden also hear the bell and cease work. M/S Monks dressed in white robes prior to entering the chapel (one is dressed in black as he is probationer). M/S The Prior walks to the head of the column and places his hood on his head. M/S Prior leads off and the column follows. M/S Prior and column walking past the altar. C/U Tomb of Napoleon III the founder of St. Michael's Abbey. Shadow of the monks routine passing. M/S As the monks now pass into the Chapel (headgear removed) they make the sign of the Cross.
