I just realized Phoenix looks like a black Duke Nukem, but with overalls instead of Jeans. Ah the 90's.
Lol no shit
He IS Duke Nukem!
And your profile picture reminds me of the 2000s. Also a good decade
Oh my god, I will never look at Simon the same way again!
Nice one
Snipes had the time of his life with this role...😂
Así es viejo.
Pienso igual.
He definitely made it his own
I love seeing performances like that where the actors are so passionate and happy about what they’re doing. Makes me enjoy the movie all the more
Even though he said the roll felt uncomfortable.
@@Guitarist888 Really? Send a link?
I'd like to point out that the museum didn't only have active weapons in perfectly good condition, with live ammunition next to them (and even a magnetic accelerator riffle with apparently a god damned fusion reactor in it), they also went so far as to have a CANNON BALL and the BLACK POWDER that comes with it to arm the cannon with ! Honestly I'd really like to see their museum on the cold war, do they keep a live nuke in it ?
Let's also not forget a fully functional fire hydrant with water and pressure.
It's just because they are old and the actual society wont rely on them anymore. Any museum you go, will have swords and such, a few centuries ago people were killing each other with those. And if I'm not mistaken, USA already have laws stablishing that from around a year of 18xx and before, the guns can be collected to be used even at home. Even if they still able to work properly. All just because they are old...
It all sums in: it's old and we wont use them anyways. Even if they still work.
The hydrant is wtf anyways xD
Lol The 90's, back when they were focused on fun factor more than realism.
I like a Museum that goes the extra mile for authenticity >:-D
But then again, a museum that uses the Diablo Font, should really tell you everything you need to know about said place. ITS ALL ABOUT THE LOOT.
Love how he borrows a gun from Rambo to fight the actor who portrayed him.
He took a bag from a solder

you all realize that deep down, Simon Phoenix felt that John Spartan was his only friend.
Well closest thing to a friend, more like a rival.
Yes. Like a love-hate relationship.
Frienemy
Even though he hates cops.
@@eduardomagana3858 that makes him respect Spartan even more. Coz Spartan is more like a mercenary than a police officer.
1:57 Notice, how Whesley shoots 2 different directions at the same time to escape. Very smart move, rarely seen in movies nowadays.....
Wow! Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't see where his other hand was pointing at, so was wondering where those flashes on his right were coming from.

2020 action films feature females in the leading roles
Spartan: "You're on TV"
Phoenix: "oh shit"
Always makes me laugh.
It was even funnier the way Phoenix moved unbalanced. Lol.
This has me legit cracking up.
Will always be my favourite childhood action movie. Wesley Snipes is to Simon Phoenix what Ryan Reynolds is to Deadpool lol
My favourite part!
One of those corny lines that are just perfect.
The "Magnetic Accelerator Gun" is actually a Heckler and Koch G11.
The Magnetic Accelerator rate of fire is actually quite pathetic, seeing what it does here. Sure its creates a little bit of combustion and explosions, but I just don't see its practicality for use by any soldier in the field. One shot and then a long reload time can get a person killed.
The gun in the movie doesn't function the same as the real thing anyway.
@F P
K r a u t S p a c e M a g i c
I was like 8 when I thought I could use magnets
Most likely it was just a prototype. It seems as if it was trying to be a sustainable, powerful energy weapon. Future iterations probably would have had faster fire rates and faster recharging. I'm thinking something similar to a "plasma" rifle depicted in Aliens.
4:01
"You're dead Spartan!"
"You forget to say Simon Says!"

Like getting your 1st tax stamp approved lol
The way they're dodging bullets or the way bullets dodge them is just great 😂😂😂
Nothing beats classic movies.
I like how he makes an Aldous Huxley reference "Its a brave new world" 04:15 when thats what this movie is based on. Hence the name of the cop "Huxley"
Simon is actually a very erudite scholar

This is my favorite action movie from the 90's for so many reasons; Phoenix being such a happy psychopath throughout makes it all the more fun! He is definitely the Palpatine of 90's action flicks; he's evil and he loves it!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, to me, Wesley is one of the best actors ever.
Sure.
So long as he is playing Wesley Snipes.
Yea
Apparently, for their rehabilitation program, they both have the aim of a storm trooper.
I guess being frozen for that long throws off your aim

@@Heavente
Dogshit double barrel? Get the fuck outta here.
@@Wander1508 it’s because they were still thawing.
You know, I just pegged why Phoenix makes such a great villain. It's not how badass or skilled he is, it's the weaknesses. He can get freaked out, he can try to do something (like kick open glass) and fail, etc. He has just enough vulnerability to feel rounded.
He's also just so much damn fun! He's pure chaotic evil (and politically incorrect), but he's having the time of his life.
3:50 will always be a classic for me 🤣

Oh shit! I love this gun! God damn! 😄
One thing about the museum's armory exhibit that still baffles me to this day is how the heck they had a cannon that looks like it's from the 1700's and the damn thing still works and that it completely destroyed a door that should have stood up to it and caused the cannonball to bounce off.
The corrupt leader prepare every thing for Simon why you suprise
At 4:12 how Simon looked around the corner of that car always made me laugh
Simon Phoenix was Heath Ledger's Joker before The Dark Knight ever came out.
Love how they used a G11 for the high tech cannon thing.
I don't care about any tax discrepancy he had I really like this guy and want to see him in more movies, Wesley Snipes is awesome.
It still annoys me that Spartan ignored the TWO M60 E4's for a double barrel shotgun... lol
I guess he didnt want to bother loading them and they are quite heavy. And shotgunsnare better in enclosed spaces and imagine if he had to roll with m60.
@@Heavente honestly the E4s were probably just a Rambo reference.
Yeah, but I think the best guns Simon had already scooped up.
I don’t know you guys but, in my own opinion, Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix did the best all times performance in the cinematography history. I can only compare it with David Jansen as Dr. Kimble in the series The Fugitive. Remarkable, incredible stage by Wesley Snipes, Simon Phoenix now is a legendary character.
Agreed. Dude's an insane sociopathic card-carrying Bad Guy™, but he's having so much fun with it that you can't help but chuckle at his antics. It also helps that, aside from Spartan, the cops are so blatantly out of their depth that it's honestly hard to feel sorry for them IMO.
Vic Monroe funny considering how Wesley snipes was in the sequel
In a sense, Simon Phoenix is a live-action Joker.
He was way greater as Blade
@@douglasmenezdelima6775 equally greater.
This is one of those movies where you root for whoever 😂
Wesley was the best actor in the film to me, I've always preferred the villains in the movies. He was literally the main actor on this one, just like the Joker on the Dark Knight.
Demolition Man sequel Stallone/Snipes might be back in action.
God i miss 90s action one liners
The boom sounds when the pistols are fired. Unrealistic today, but it was certainly satisfying to hear in the early 90s action films. I wish that was brought back.
80s was the golden era of action movies, the 90s didnt do bad either, but Hollywood lost it's way when they started relying on CGI way to much in the 2010s. Movies like planet of the apes and Avatar really made them believe CGI was the only and best way to go. If you notice movies like the Predator, Robocop , Aliens, and terminator should have been better eith the visual effects available today, but yet they failed to please both the older fans of the original and even the younger movie fans of today.
They got ridd of all true special effect artists, replaced with cheap indian CGI. Same with actors.
They got it right with The Matrix (1999). It has the perfect balance between practical effects and CGI. Also, take a look at Dredd (2012) and Mad Max Fury Road (2015). Those are great action movies, with decent CGI and they're from this Century.
Was lost in the 00s. Shaky camera and CGI raped the genre to death.
3:26

He really just said "Excuse me Rambo"
The worst unnecessary stunt double ever at 3:50.

They were pacifised so much that they put guns in the museum with ammunition, or they were complete idiots, most likely both.
Probably a plan by Cocteau to incite violence towards the rebels. The same reason why he gave Simon Phoenix all of the information and skills needed to go after them.
