  • Lossless scaling is worth it if you can control the performance in your game, ensuring it can run at 35FPS or 40FPS before capping it at 30FPS, so when you turn on lossless scaling, it will remain stable at 30FPS because lossless scaling takes a little performance to double your FPS. If you find the right settings for lossless scaling, it will work like magic; if not, it’s just a waste of money.
    Please note that the performance test results provided are indicative and may vary based on individual hardware configurations, software settings, and environmental factors. The results should be considered as a general guideline rather than definitive performance expectations.

    Followed your tips… made so much difference! Using Riva tuner and AMD drivers , night and day improvement! Thanks

      Yes, RivaTuner frame limit plays very important role for lossless scaling to work effectively.

    Hello 👋🏼.
    There is something that confuses me. Two months ago you made a video about "Integer scaling" and the external monitor. Isn't that part necessary with this new method? Or have you simply omitted it but it is still necessary? I hope you understand my question, and thank you for such good videos.

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem +1

      In this video Integer Scaling is disabled, I don’t use it anymore, since Lossless Scaling gives better results.

    How is image quality when you compare integer scaling vs fsr1?
    Good content btw

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem

      FSR1 or 2 if you set it at Quality, the image looks as good as Native Resolution, the quality of image will drop when you set to Balance, Performance, and Ultra Performance. For me, I rarely use Integer Scaling because I don’t notice any huge improvements from it.

    Weird, everytime I try to do this (not even on an external monitor) my frames get much worse. Trying it out on Last Epoch and it's unplayable. Any ideas on what's going on? I'm setting the game to 30fps max, the screen to 144 or 60, rivatuner to 30 .. after i activate scaling it's unbearable.

    • @nobodynobody3782
      @nobodynobody3782 Před měsícem

      Thé same problem

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem

      First make sure that your game can keep up with 35 to 40FPS before capping frame rate at 30FPS because when you enable Lossless Scaling, it will take down few performance (FPS Drop) before double your FPS to 60. If your game can run stable at 30FPS after active Lossless Scaling then you are good to go.
      Second, docking system and cables plays important role when connecting to external monitor, your performance is depending on it. Personally, after I got ROG Gaming Dock 65W as I show in the video, I notice a huge improvement in performance. Before I used only cable to connect with monitor UGREEN HDMI to USB C 4K 60Hz.

    Do we have to use borderless & windowed mode only to make it work? I havent purchase LLS

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem +1

      Yes, it’s only work in Borderless & Windowed mode. Full Screen or Exclusive Full Screen doesn’t work. In window mode, when you active Lossless Scaling, it will convert your game to full screen.

      Frame generation does produce some lag. I only seen one video displaying the lag for frame generation for in 30's based framerate and it read 55ms to 60 ms increase lag.

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem +1

      It’s neither real FPS nor fake FPS; people call it frame generation. Yes, it does make the game feel smoother, but that comes at the expense of ghosting and input lag, depending on the game. Lossless scaling is just software; it’s not perfect in terms of performance like an eGPU, but that will cost you a lot of money.
