  • Lossless scaling on Steam refers to a feature that allows users to scale up or down the resolution of a game without sacrificing image quality. Essentially, it ensures that the game's graphics remain crisp and clear even when adjusting the resolution to fit different screen sizes or performance preferences. This is particularly useful for gamers who want to maintain visual fidelity while playing on high-resolution displays or older hardware. Based on my experiment, today I show you the best settings for lossless scaling with zero ghosting and no wavy distortion.
    Please note that the performance test results provided are indicative and may vary based on individual hardware configurations, software settings, and environmental factors. The results should be considered as a general guideline rather than definitive performance expectations.

    Have you done a video on all settings you used on AMD Radeon software (if you use Radeon Super Resolution vs Integer scaling, Anti-lag, Boost, etc..) and more? Thanks

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před 5 dny

      I haven’t done that video yet, but I rarely use integer scaling because it doesn’t have active status like AMD RSR, so it’s hard to identify if the function is working or not.

    • @McGuinness89
      @McGuinness89 Před 5 dny

      @@T-PEN yeah that’s true. So with RSR you drop the resolution and it’ll take care of the clarity as well? Great videos so far, looking forward to seeing what settings you use, especially since new Graphics drivers came out yesterday

    I can confirm that any overlay like performance monitoring really interferes with lossless scaling as I was testing with horizon forbidden west, turned off all the overlay, then it became smooth.

      AMD Andrenalin also effect LLS performance, I have uninstalled it due performance drops while monitoring AMD overlay.

    How do you get the taskbar to show up? I pin the game bar performance but as soon as I'm launching my games which are in borderless Fullscreen, I can't get the taskbar to show up. I tried holding the touchpad and I can't figure out if there's a shortcut.

    Does it work when you put fps limit from Legion settings? Or do we have to use in game fps limit?

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem +1

      You can use in-game fps limit or RivaTuner to cap the frame. Don’t use Legion Go Frame Limiter, it doesn’t work accurately.

    Hi, i bought a portable 4k monitor. It's 15.6 inches and 60 hz. When i plug this monitor with usb 4 cable to my legion go, the portable monitor is stuck at 640x480 resolution. Do you know the solution for this issue?

    The more “pure” FPS we have, the less artifacts and ghosting we will see (or not see at all) as a result.
    Edit: How do these "fake" 144fps feel? Because in Cyberpunk they still look like 30fps.

      I never liked the frame gen feeling, now I use Lossless scaling only as an upscaling tool basically

    • @smidlee7747
      @smidlee7747 Před měsícem +1

      Remember 30 fps is still 30 fps. To keep it simple if you play online and let say 50ms lag by internet plus 33ms 30 fps at best is 83 ms like playing Helldrivers 2 . Frame generation will only increase the lag since no hardware can tell the future. It needs two frames to go by. It must delay displaying the second frame to draw and insert the frame in between then later display the second real frame.
      It also noted our visual cortex automatically does this ... that is smooths out 30 fps without lag or artifacts. This is how gamers survived the early consoles on CRT TV.
      Our visual cortex does the same thing with movies that are cut up in pieces with different camera angles.

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem

      I agree with what you said; 30FPS is still 30FPS. The only way to gain more native FPS/Performance is to plug in an eGPU.

      @@T-PEN You are being honest that it works better in some games than others. It's a tool just like V-sync.
      It's the same with VRR , some people over hype VRR not realizing the higher your screen reflesh rate the less you need VRR and v-sync. You don't really need V-sync on a monitor with 120-144 hz. With these monitors you can insert a black screen between each frame and it will blend in with the real frame. The exact same thing a teared screen with blend in with the next non-tear screen at 120 hz. V-sync produces some lag. Even free-sync and g-sync does a little.

    • @twinv6_quadrifoglio
      @twinv6_quadrifoglio Před měsícem

      I do as well. I’m honestly not a fan of the fake frames. Sure the numbers look good all high and all however, the input lag can get horrible and noticeable on my eyes. Not to mention ghosting here and there. Few games benefit from LS app.

    • @huntneef
      @huntneef Před měsícem

      try to turn off any performance monitoring overlay, just minimize the lossless scaling app after turning on and play it.

    • @T-PEN
      @T-PEN  Před měsícem

      You can enable allow screen tearing in LLS settings to reduce input lag. In the video, I don’t mention input lag because it varies depending on the game. Some games are fine, but for others like God of War, the input lag is unplayable.
