Let me show you why the Steamdeck Oled is good for most of you in case you're wondering which handheld to get.

Rog Ally, Legion Go, Msi Claw. They're all great depending on the type of person you are.

I’d also add another point - Valve’s customer service.
Last month, I was having audio issues with my LCD Steam Deck. The thing was, my warranty expired 2 months ago at that time, and I was hesitant to contact them because money was tight. However, I figured, maybe contact them and just see what they say? They ended up replacing my Steam Deck for FREE as a “customer service gesture” with a brand new one! All I had to do was send in my old one (they covered the shipping too!). Not only did they send me a brand new one, but it was the revised version which had the better heat shield, better haptics, etc. Valve is the freaking BEST when it comes to customer service! :D
They are very good.
What? Them treating you as a person and not a product foremost? What a concept... I'm sure they left a very positive impression on you and you'll probably recommend their client/console because of it over other competitors.

Great video! Keep up the great work! 🤙🏼
And also !!! I love my deck so far. And I haven't even done that much yet. Gotta get my emudeck going. Great video as always
Dude you’re doing a wonderful job with your videos.
Dont change anything, you're doing great. thx for the info
This is a great video @Cyber Dopamine, you nailed it, keep doing what you're doing!
love your videos bro keep them coming definitely helped me pick the handheld for me 💯
Watching this after I already bought a Steam Deck OLED(loving it) and I’m just sitting here nodding and agreeing with everything. Good video with great points.
Watched a lot of steam deck videos lately since I just got the OLED model and I really enjoyed yours the most out of all the ones I've watched! Don't change anything, you're doing great :D Thank you for the honest and refreshing opinion. Love the points you made about how seamless it is to play on steam deck versus fine tuning the little things on ROG ally/lenovo.
Yooooo thanks a lot!!!!! That’s super cool of you to say
Absolutely loved the video, man. Like others have said, just keep doing what you’re doing - you’re killing it. Chill vibes, relaxing tone, super dope.
Totally agree on the message too. I haven’t tried any of the Windows based handhelds, but if I lost anything from the Deck experience: battery, easy, comfort - I would be less likely to use that other thing.
Top tier video can’t wait for my birthday to purchase this great product thanks for your opinion!🤝
I would love to go with the Steam Deck, but I need the bigger screen of the legion go. Loving your videos! Keep it up!
Ok, I did it. I got a Steam Deck. And after a few seconds I forgot about the big screen. And after some hours of playing and no fear of battery life I have returned my Legion Go. Loving it. Feels much more cosy in my hands and battery life is WAY better. And performance. Not as good but not so bad either. Thanks for pointing out that the Steam Deck is the gold standard out there. :)
I like the information you laid out and that made me subscribe :)
Heck yeah thank you!!!!
Couldn't have been explained better. Thanks!
Been watching your videos for months, finally convinced me to buy a steam deck as the first console I've had in over 20 years! Other than the slight Linux learning curve, its easy to just pick up and play. Thank you for your insight!
Heck yeah! Get ghost of Tsushima it’s so gooooood

Dude your voice has some magic vibes you literally can say whatever sht you want about SD regardless of how bad it would be and at the end say you should buy it and im sure you i will😅
My Ally just kept slowing down. It would black screen atleast 10 times a week. Damn left stick is drifting like a mfr. And i already got a dead pixel in my top left screen. It gets uncomfortabley hot. It sits there and collects dust. Useless. Im buying another Steam Deck. I cant keep fighting the Ally to play my damn games.
Great vids! Keep it up 💪
my first handheld was a psvita, but i recently bought an lcd deck 512 + 512 gb sd card for 330$ insane deal! Nice review bro🔥, i subbed 🔥
Love your videos dude. Almost got a Rog ally but I’ve got a SD oled on its way.
Great vids man, subbed as I'm looking at getting an SD soon. Also I see a fellow Flume fan!
One of the newer channels I've found but I like his fresh honest opinion, he's owned by a company giving his opinion. Plus I like he asks what he can improve on which you wont see from others
I would have to agree. I have an ROG Ally and it has been such a headache. I use to just pick it up and play when I log into windows but the constant update and tweaking, also the random crashes and freezes during in game has made me just use the ROG Ally in docked mode and use as a desktop. I’m now saving up for a Steam Deck OLED because I just want the convenience of Linux. I also don’t have that much time to delve into finding the problem and fixing my ROG Ally freezes and crashes. Also I’m very scared of using the Micro SD card slot on the ROG Ally because of all the rumored problems with it so unfortunately I am starting to give up on Windows handhelds.
As much as i love my legion go, im always scared one day it just wouldnt wanna turn on lmao 😭
bazzite os exists to replicate the steam deck 100%
I've had the Rog for some months now and haven't touched the deck since. I like the option of playing on other apps besides steam imo
Best comment @ZangetsuBrian
On my Legion Go I was running Playnite, RTSS, Handheld Companion, and Lossless Scaling all at once. Not to mention having to modify the settings in each app ... one by one ... for every game I played. It was just a massive headache.
I threw Bazzite on it a little over a month ago and it is freaking amazing. Literally turns the Go into a giant Steam Deck. (And it would turn the Ally into a Steam Deck with VRR!) Dual booted for awhile for the Lossless Scaling app, but decided it just wasn't worth it and got rid of Windows entirely. I am OK with a 48fps cap in modern games & perfect frame pacing. (Frame pacing on Windows is horrible. Frame generation doesn't help that.) It is so nice just picking it up and getting right into a game + having every setting I could ever need built into the quick access settings on a per game basis.
Awesome video, I just ordered the deck oled 512. Should be here tomorrow haha
Love ur vids man, we all need a little dopamine. Anyways as good as the steamdeck is as an all around good and introductive device, it’s definitely not impossible or even hard to start with something difficult like the go or ally. I’ve never owned a handheld pc, or any windows operating system in my life, but the go has been my gateway into learning how to use windows to do cool stuff! All handheld devices are great! (except for the claw 👹)
Totally agree with you, I have Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition and I’m happy with it
Hey man, a way better alternate is to change sleep to hibernate. Huge game changer for me i use on all my protables and laptops, hibernate is a mix of shutdown and sleep, the battery doesnt darin because its shut down and everything runs where you left off when you turn back on. It comes at a cost of waiting 5 to 10 extra seconds to turn it on compared to sleep but no more random fan in middle of the night, no more battery drain, no more heating, a huge game changer. I prefer legion go because i mostly want to play my games on my couch or bed juat relaxing so i have my charger close by all time. For travel, i have a 50,000 mah battery and i dont care about high fpsand high wuality because its a small screen so i wont se ehuge difference so crank down watts and quality get 45 to 60 fps on games and get 2 to 3 hiurs batteey, with a battery bank, you get around 10 hours mkre than enough
Love your content! ♥️
Thanks a lot!
I'm getting a Steam deck OLED soon, can't wait!
Got a refurbished LCD Steam Deck on it's way, can't wait to try it out.
Same but I’m wishing I woulda just spend more money and got an oled 🤦🏽♂️
@@Flock13 A refurbished LCD at £200 cheaper than Oled is a great deal. It will do me until the next Deck comes out.
Just got my 1T Oled Steam Deck today. It feels sooo much better than my 64gb 2022 Steam Deck. I'm happy for the upgrade.
Great video, one of the last points you made was maybe a bit shaky as I feel like I did miss out getting the lcd not knowing there would be OLED version
Great points, well done
I love your videos your doing great
One little detail: When putting the Deck on standby (sleep mode), there is actually small battery draining. Apparently ~10% per 24 hours.
I got into the handheld PC game with my GPD win max. I absolutely loved that thing but mostly because there was nothing else like it at the time. I do like for form factor with a full keyboard. You can play keyboard mouse or controller for all your games.
The handheld PC world is becoming an amazing place. Looking to pick up an OLED steam deck next month. Excited for the extra power compared to my GPD win max but a little worried I’ll miss the keyboard.
4 hour is all I need 🔥🔥🔥
I'm happy with my deck for the foreseeable future, but after steam Deck i want more power and a bigger screen. Im actually really hyped to see more gaming pc tablets release, like the minisforum v3. A hybrid tablet that's a fully fledged PC would be like combining your iPad/tablet with a steam deck/handheld PC, in a true all in one device.
Regular LCD Deck is also a good introductory option, refurb direct from valve is $279 for a 64GB, and you can swap in a cheap SSD for $20-30 USD.
Went from LCD deck to Rog Ally but didn't need the power and hated the battery life and constant software updates, so I want back to steam deck with the OLED version a few months ago and never looked back at windows handhelds. Will look into it when there's an actual handheld version of Windows with all the updates at the click of one button
100% agree on everything. Love my steam deck .
Got the steam deck oled and it’s freaking fantastic
Really well said
The most helpful channel, bar none! I have a 64 GB LCD model that I LOVE, but I wonder if I should upgrade to the Oled or if I should just wait for Steam Deck 2?
Love my oled model had the msi claw return it
Steam deck 2 isn't probably till at least 2026, because valve wants a chip that's at least double the performance for the same power draw, Wich just isn't possible at the moment. Hopefully we get the chips before that but I wouldn't count on it
Great Video, just one thing: I would personally decrease the Volume of the Background Music by around 25%-50%.
Question - I saw your Legion Go Review and the fact that you can add STEAM OS which operate the exact same - for those of us that play other games outside of STEAM - would you suggest the Legion Go and then just add the STEAM OS to operate just like a steam deck? but still having the power of the Legion Go with the option for additional games or AAA Titles that could release? I have both the OLED and Legion Go right now - debating which to return.
I like your channel, I'll like it if you could show more of the devices and please 4K, because some of us watch you on TV.
another banger😼
You’re killing it bro, feels like a conversation with my friend. Love the videos.
... If you're coming from consoles 😊 I totally agree! I went with a Legion because my library is split between so many different stores 😭
Thanks!
I don’t have a mobile pc yet and i love the way the steam deck looks especially Oled but i know you can’t play certain games like call of duty and the finals but i love the console like experience that comes with Linux as well as gamepass games
Especially steam OS, if i did get the legion go id definitely find a way to get steam OS on it
I've been going back and forth if I should get the SD OLED or wait for the new ROG Ally X to release. I'm leaning more to the SD but some aspects keep making me second guess.
I legit just brought the stream deck today OLED 512GB can't wait!!
How do you like it?
@@brendtsmerecky8536 worth it
@@brendtsmerecky8536 in love with it!
3:07 steam deck can also be so easily docked with no issues whatsoever, maybe a little input lug when you use cheaper adapter. Whenever I run out of battery i can just plug it to my montior and continue the session on keyboard. The biggest inconvience is when you played the game on handheld exclusively and you have to check key bindings, nothing more. I actually use the steam deck as a device on my college instead of PC. I can travel light with it(get a package for monitor and everything else to backpack, AND I HAVE A REALLY SMALL BACKPACK, but 60% keyboard do wonders) and I just come back to my dorm and plug it in whenever I need to do something related to studies. Maybe built in keyboard is not as reliable, but you can just plug in your own keyboard. Currently typing this comment from my steam deck:)
Yeah I was really on the fence about which device to get until I played the SD Oled. Thought for sure I'd go Lenovo prior to actually playing the OLED SD. If you're trying to have a laptop experience...get a laptop. If you want to have a handheld gaming device, SD Oled is king for now. No loyalty to any of them but it's the best handheld rn
I wanted an OLED, but then I stumbled upon the LCD(256GB) model for $300 on OfferUp, so I went with that. Half of what I was gonna pay, so I am happy about that. I know how nice OLED screens are because I have a Switch OLED, but saving my money to put towards the Steam Deck 2(whenever that happens) made more sense to me.
I really love the thing. I setup EmulationStation right away and I am having a blast.
Does emudeck still let you emulate switch games? I know batocera does but i dont want to boot on and off of steam os just for emulation.
@@locomojo8896You can still install them (the emulators) I'm pretty sure.
planning of getting SD but im not sure if i should get oled or just the older version. I dont play hardcord games. is there a performance DIFFERENCE between the old and oled?
SteamOS is amazing. If I got a legion go I'd certainly install chimeraOS and maybe keep windows only for stuff like genshin impact.
And yeah the oled is surprisingly durable. I dropped it from like, 4ft onto the wooden floor on accident once. Had to press the shell back together but there hasnt been a problem yet 3months later, battery is fine, buttons/sticks are fine, it all works.
Valve did an amazing job.
I sometimes feel like it lags those 4-5 fps for switch emulation so I keep thinking about a legion go but I cant justify 2 handhelds lol.
Heres hoping in a few years we'll get a new steamdeck version, i'll definitely buy it.
agreed. The steam deck (lcd) i have aint to superstar, but she works like a dream. Once you get over the whole "i wanna play at 60fps" thing you pretty much have a really solid device. I set mine to better fidelity but cap it at 30 fps and its awesome. everything is super stable. I grew up playing consoles that were locked at 30 fps so its no biggie. If i want a high fps deal, i just play on my pc. one other way to really get a great experience is to use Moonlight to stream the game from your gaming pc to your SD. You get ALL the power and ALL the battery on the SD since you're just streaming. I was able to play a large amount of cyberpunk on it like that. Then, if you gotta go somewhere, just sync up your cloud saves and play natively. then you're playing at like medium settings at 40fps
Have a legion go and an oled steam deck.....90% of my gaming on the steam deck. Love it. Absolutely the best choice
Why the SD over the LeGo?
Light, battery life, sleep mode, you get where you left in a snap….but to me, the OLED screen is the killer, I just love the blacks, colors that pop out.
I would expand your comparison. Other handhelds with windows are more like supercars. True, but it is not just taking car to a shop it is also fixing it there by yourself. Most people don't like to get their hands dirty that much and that often.
I see Cyber Dope's new video i click right away.
You flat out nailed this topic. Steam OS is amazing, a tablet with twice the power just can’t even compete. Only thing that even touches it is Nintendo Switch.
Just ordered a lcd model (it’s all I can afford) for 340 bucks. After researching all the other brands seemed like the best choice for me. I have a 2 yr old so yeah don’t get much time to myself to game besides in bed at the end of a day
It probably was the best choice for the money. I hope you enjoy your time with the steam deck as much as I do
Now the question is.. 512 GB or 1 TB version? I'm seeing a lot of discussions regarding the matte and glossy displays I don't know what to do anymore
If you dont need the matte display go for the glossy one!
Glossy displays = better picture!
My advice is:
As long as you are clear that you are going to buy something that you have already determined, buy the Top model that you can of that. In this case, if you are sure that you want the SteamDeck but you don't know which model to choose, always choose the Top model, even if you have to save more because it costs more.
You will never regret it.
In this case the 1TB Oled model and I would also buy a 1TB micro SD card. Or if you want the bright screen but don't have enough GB, you can buy the 512GB ver. and buy 2TB internal storage and install it, as well as some magnetic joysticks. As long as everything else is the same in the 512 version and the 1TB version, of course.
Had the same doubts... chose the 1Tb version. 2 days later I had 412Gb of free space left and glad I didn’t go for the 512Gb version.
@@Shaky0r_the difference is really not that big as people say it is... it’s only slightly visible in certain, specific circomstances.
I have the 1tb its great no issues
Legion go and ROG ally almost get you to a steam deck experience on bazzite. That said, I still do use my SD even though I have a Legion go (not often but when on the go). As it's smaller, and feels more durable.
Great video and great content as always. Ill be honest the constant background music starts to annoy me I really don't like it. But that's just my opinion.
Yoooo thank you so much for that. Duly noted!
@@CyberDopamine Hi Thank you for the reply, apologies could have said it better, just i find the music very distracting, when you just talking would be enough to keep people engaged.
@GerardGardner-wc8lz dude don’t hold back! I love the truth and can take it. I lowkey like being told what I can do better. So I appreciate you telling me
I don’t know if you’re having problems with this but last night I opted in my drivers and I can’t use edge at all. I had to download Google from another device on mine just so I could get Internet access. Just wondering if you had this issue
100% agree, getting the steam deck is a great investment.
If I want to play AAA game and some older games which handheld should I get?
My legion go can play fifa 23, lost ark, f1 23, grid legends, starcraft 2, whatever you want. Battery life doesn't matter when you find out when you can't play. Set the legion go to hibernate when you press the power button, not sleep. Waking from hibernation is the same speed. Hibernation drains zero battery. Legion go only has one problem, the grip cuts into your palms after a hour or so. Other than that its the Bomb. That huge screen playing f1, the handheld even looks like a f1 handle, totally immersed. And manually eq the speaker boosting the bass using the built in realtek app. The default powerful preset is ridiculous. Lenovo just needed to have a custom eq set that is right for the legion go speakers out of the box, they just didn't have time I guess. The speakers are totally fine when you keep mid to highs flat and bass pumped high.
Just in time, I always love to tweak everything as I studied electronics and I'm always doing some projects (right now I'm working on a home lab local server) but between all computers handheld I chose the steam deck oled because I want good battery life even tho I give up on what ? 5-10fps ? And it's turn on and play directly, a real console-ish experience like the switch oled I just sold for the steam deck oled :)
Sold my 6-month old Ally Z1E for a Deck OLED. It’s an upgrade in every way for me. If I really need the extra performance, I’ll either play on my PC or stream it to my Deck via Moonlight.
How is moonlight? I have only recently heard of it, how does it all work, have been thinking about streaming to my Handheld?
I got a gaming PC i only brought this cuz sometimes i wanna chill on the bed and game at times im try this out for sure.
I play the hell out of battle field 4 MP on steam deck runs smoothly at 90fps on medium settings can get up to 120fps unlocked. You have to do some tinkering to get the multiplayer to no kick you out the game after 2 minutes but after that runs great
I'll wait for steam deck 2, and i hope it'll came out with powerful cpu and the screen at least 1080p
I still love my steam deck and I love my new Legion Go
The steam decks great but the reason i sold my lcd model is because of the constant shader cache updates , literally every single day for the same games as well. It drove me a little crazy plus the performances weren't really there for the triple a titles on the lcd
I make it so the updates can only happen at night between 1-5, before I go to bed I put it on charge with the never go to sleep when plugged in option and use the decky plugin "Magic Black" that turns your screen completely black to no get burn in (only necessary on OLED steam deck) and I never have to worry about the shader cache downloads on the go. Could also just turn internet options off for a few days if you play mostly older titles with no need for constant internet connections. Sorry you didn't like your experience, hopefully Valve finds a new way to take care of shaders in the future
Any idea how Steam would handle a return if I ordered one, tested it and it wasn’t for me?
Any update on when windows drivers for steam deck oled release?
I’d love to see the gamepass tutorial please 💪🏻
I really want to get the steamdeck oled but I play games that the TOS pevents me from being comfortable in playing it because of my fear of a possible ban. I think imma go with the Lego..
Is that the way you put your steamdeck? Have i been doing it wrong all this time?😮
I had a steam deck LCD after waiting like a year for an email, used it, didn't understand linux and sold it. I bought a ROG ally and at first I was happy to finally have a handheld I knew how to use (I have a windows PC) but over time I realized how fucking terrible windows is in handheld form. Games always had some sort of hiccup that would take so much time that I would run out of time to actually use it. I bought a steam deck OLED, and while I do miss the power of the ROG Ally, the software makes everything so much easier, I'm actually able to play games. I also learned how to emulate on linux so I'm able to do everything I could do on my ally on my steamdeck now
Any intense triple As that need more fps like tekken 8 or Cod mw3 or Hogwartz legacy I just use my razorblade 14. Everything else I play on my steam deck. I actually can’t wait to see what valve have In store for the deck 2. If it it can have the same power if not more as the legion or Ally while having the support of steam. It will be hard to compete with. Even if it could play all games at 60fps at 1080p. That would be immense.
Hey man! Great video!
My only suggestion for you is to speak a bit more confidently. You clearly are passionate about what you're talking about, but i think putting a bit more "oomph" behind the words will make it stick more.

I’m just not sold on the current iteration of the Steam Deck. There’s a few games I can’t play on it which would be the main reason I’d want to play on a handheld. I’m not satisfied with the current performance of the Deck. I know my way enough around Windows 11 that I can deal with the issues you’ve mentioned. Lastly, screw the Legion Go and the Ally. They’re both trash. I like the OneX Player Pro 2. R7 8840U with 32 gigs of ram gives me the performance I expect out of a W11 handheld. It’s by far the best competition to the Deck
I have the LCD one. Modified 1tb ssd and 1tb sd card. I tried once. Put it on sleep for one week a 100% on HADES game. When i turned it on. Still here with 89% 🔋 . And resume the game just fine
I love my legion but I also hate it. Often it’s something Windows related albeit just updates or whatever but it makes me just put the device down and do something else, the little frustrations just add up and make me kinda wish I went for the steamdeck but I had to go for the specs because pc brain. I’m going to install Bazzite soon just to have Windows gone, I’ll have my desktop to get me annoyed with the Windows side instead. The specs don’t outweigh the ease of use take that in mind when buying one.
The only thing that these other portables have over the steam deck is slightly higher performance when they are not being a pain to use. I am glad I bought a steam deck.
Valve made a great device! I love my Steam Deck!!!
I plug my PC into it, and have a future-proofed Super Deck.
And at the same time, the Deck becomes a Steam Controller 2 for gaming on the PC/TV!
No packed up hardware prices?! In Australia the SD is $1,200-$1,600!!
whats the point of a 30min battery handheld?
Hey in my country I can get Steam Deck OLED 512 and Legion GO 512 at the exact same price (579 euro). If the cost is the same, what would you choose.
Steam deck. More reliable, better battery
You wanted critiques so here’s mine: intro. You need to perfect your intro. I felt more thrown straight in VS slowly warming up.
Thanks Valve
Is this being the first thing I see when I open CZcams a sign?
