- Social media has exploded with users shocked by a sweet treat’s inability to thaw. Nestlé’s Drumstick was invented in 1928 and has been part of American culture ever since. Now, people are doing everything imaginable to get them to melt. Turns out, Drumsticks are not really ice cream. Nestlé, the company that makes them, describes it as a frozen dairy dessert. Registered dietician Jaclyn London says the extra ingredients in Drumsticks prevents it from melting.
We've put together a concoction of chemicals to stop ice cream melting. Scrumptious
It doesn't taste like ice cream to me .
Its cause its mainly whipped cream. Which doesnt melt.
They added the big scary words to make it sound worse than it is.
Dihydrogen monoxide sounds scary, to a point that people freaked out when a radio show talked about it and its dangers.
Its literally just water.
Pretty sure it's a extract that occurs naturally in strawberries. it can now be replicated in a lab
Turkish traditional ice cream is the same and people were eating it before America was discovered. Its the magic of chemistry.
@@200555280 thats why its still only a thing in turkey
It’s not ice cream it’s a “frozen dairy treat” or whatever lol
Kinda like what is a woman eh?
So Ice Cream isn't Dairy I guess
@@cathyroland340 It’s a loophole in FDA regulations and classifications.

Exactly....the truth ✅
Is it like for people that is alergic to dairy or lactose
A Drumstick has never lasted long enough to notice no melting anyway! 😂 😋
Exactly! 😊
So true 😂
I guess that's why it took us so long to find this out 😂
It's "Fake" ice cream...
It’s not fake. It never calls itself ice cream

Yes, but the stuff is still horrible...had it before and don't want to have it again... it's mainly chemical ice cream that'll kill you as good as other processed foods, with many chemicals in it!😱

Can't say this stuff is shape shifters either 🥹
With all the chemicals in it, it won't even shift it's shape 🥹
Just like most of our processed foods, have you looked at and even read the ingredients list? 😱
Our foods have so many chemicals in it, it's no wonder People have allergies and get sick from it...😡🤬
One chemical cone please
🤮 YUK !
😂
chemical cone sounds so catchy I’d actually eat it
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Look at them trying to down play it to get us to keep eating it!!! this world is a lie
I always roll my eyes when people get upset about calling almond water (or other nuts) "milk," but don't say a word about all the insane chemicals in our foods. It's just corporations steering us toward whatever controversy they want so we ignore the real issues.
I like Haagen Daz, it’s all natural and also delicious.
Their vanilla ice cream ingredients: “Cream, concentrated skim milk, sugar, liquid egg yolk, vanilla extract”.
Same👍
It's also an expensive ice cream brand
Which proves we’re not eating real food.
Never ! Real clean food? No such thing🤷
No, it's literally a natural binding ingredient. 🙄🙄 It's real food honey.

That ice cream is as hard working as the kids that work for the Nestle company

CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THE CLASSIC DRUMSTICK!
Drumsticks contain carrageenan for texture in its ice cream. Carrageenan can affect the human digestive system which has led to drumsticks being banned in Europe.
Thank you for explaining it so many don't understand
Almond Breeze Chocolate Almond Non-Dairy Beverage contains no carrageenan.
Yet the private equity firm partnered with Nestle is based in Paris. Go figure
thank u
That's interesting, because mine always melt before I can finish it......
Because mouth heat I guess idk

something else i will never buy again

guess you better stop buying 95% of everything else you find in grocery stores too. it's a safe product and is simply made of products that help preserve it... they never claimed that the product was ice cream, and just because it doesn't melt doesn't mean it isn't safe. get over yourself

Im Gen X, in the 80’s & 90’s they would melt and drip out of the bottom of the cone. A lot of stuff tastes very different because it’s now turned into synthetic food.
Shaped like ice cream, but requires a zoom-in for the Frozen Dairy Desert label. It just has a higher melting point. The question would be why.
So wait...
If it's not ice cream then...
WHAT HAVE I BEEN EATING ALL THIS TIME?! 😮
whipped cream i guess
Propylene glycol is also found in anti-freeze. Celluslose gum is thickner also found in detergent products, textiles, and cosmetics.
You should give making a homemade version a try.
Turkish dondurma ice cream also doesn’t melt but it doesn’t contain those chemicals.
Turkey is greece but Muslim
What does propylene glycol do to the body?
► Contact can irritate the skin and eyes. ► Propylene Glycol can cause nausea and vomiting. ► Exposure can cause headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and passing out.
Sodium chloride
High blood pressure
Heart disease
Stroke
With your logic you shouldn't even drink water
So can lots of foods, if you have an allergy to it! 😊
That chemical shouldn't ever be in food
u forgot to add the "monostearate" after glycol
Willy Wonka’s ice cream that never melts.
I've always knew that the chocolate coating holds the ice-cream.
But if you can't even call it ice-cream anymore for technical reasons, then

Aerated oily cream tends to not melt much, it just kinda blobs because it has so much air and binders in it.

Then stop eating gum? 🤣 This is literally a natural binding ingredient that they use for gum as well.
No more nestle period
Can you explain other 30 ingredients in this “dairy treat” since you seem to know so much and how healthy it is
Nah. They definitely changed it or something. I just bought some and noticed the ice cream tasted different. It felt way softer and lighter than what it's supposed to be, and the ice cream flavor was not good. Tastes a bit off like...oil or something. The original, real ice cream inside was always colder, thicker, and melted faster. The ice cream literally did not drip or melt how it normally does. Nestle did something.
I noticed that on certain cartons of ice cream. The one I normally eat said “vanilla ice cream with…” and the one next to it said “frozen dairy desert”. I’m glad this validates my suspicions.
I'll still eat them.
I'm going out later today and get me a box or two

Willy wonka made ice cream that would never melt. I think he took inspiration from Drumsticks.
We don't have drumsticks in the UK!
You can actually make ice-cream by whipping cream and mixing it with condensed milk and add whatever flavouring you want then put it in the freezer to finish it off. It doesn't melt either and will retain it's shape because it was whipped first.😊
When I was a kid it was rumored to be made with insect spray

How does Inside Edition have an expert for everything?
Forget melting. A SEA MONSTER ATE MY ICE CREAM!!!
Last one I had thought it was shaving cream it got tossed fast it was gross
They just don't wanna tell us it's actually chicken drumsticks
We must have some old ones because my kids opened some this past Saturday and they were melted all over them soon as they tore the package open. But it is kids too.
I always noticed how those king cones or whatever at the gas stations would melt and drumstick didn’t
While resembling ice cream in appearance, frozen dairy desserts typically include a lower milkfat content, higher levels of overrun (incorporated air), and for those ice cream lovers with dietary restrictions, milk or cream can be replaced with dairy alternatives. I mean if their lying then oh well. I got that from just looking it up. Something people just dont do anymore😂😂😂
Learning never stops!
I don’t know what it is but I remember back when Nestle drumsticks were a bigger size and had a different flavor. It tasted better back in the early 2000s then now.
No more Nestle for me. Boycotting it now.
Closer to an actual "drumstick" than ice cream 🍦
My favorite drumstick and Coke Zero combo
The laughs at the end 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have actually had my drumstick ice cream melt during the hot summer heat so it does melt lol just at super hot temperatures.
As if we didn’t know this already. If you’ve ever had a Frosty from Wendy’s or a Milkshake from Jack in the Box, and wondered why that stuff is still so thick even after it’s past its frozen state, it’s all that cellulose gum and binding agents to thicken it. So it still drinks like a milkshake at room temp.
Pretty sure I just poured propylene glycol in my radiator to keep the water in it from freezing in winter and prevent corrosion…
That is a different propylene glycol. The one in the cone is GRAS (generally recognized as safe) while the one in your radiator is not food grade, but is still considered non toxic.

Yes, disgusting 😝
There is no comparison here because one is plain and the other has a chocolate shell which is hard and takes longer to melt

Now I wanna know how long it will take to digest
Same amount of time as any other dairy product. Probably instantly

Ah yes let’s put practically antifreeze in “Dairy Products”
Well I’ll never eat one of those again.
How does it stay cold?
That's the point.
Even when it's no longer cold, even becoming hot, it stays the same.
Unlike the "real" icecream that turns to liquid when it's not cold.
I once had a Sonic milkshake I didn’t care for the taste so I threw it in the garbage cup down and went to lunch for an hour.
