I’ve been waiting for this day!!!!
Thanks for heading back toward your discomfort zone for our education and entertainment! So excited!
I always gravitated towards Hostess’s chocolate cupcakes so that’s the next recipe I want to make from Stella Parks’s book. P.s. I have a stove top waffle iron. It’s a small diameter because it’s for krum kooke. The iron has been passed down through 5 generations and now it’s mine. I just looked at it and forgot how pretty it was
OMG
Thank you for doing this format again ! It was always really great to watch !
This series coming back means the timeline is healing.
THIS
YES
Through the power of intellectual rights negotiations, who knew!
@@anabee8310 It depends on how far they wanted to push it in court, her former employers could hardly argue the format of recreating store bought items to be more gourmet belongs to them or else they would have gone after Joshua Weissman by now.
everything feels okay somehow
the difference in claire's demeanor in this setting versus the test kitchen is SO different and more relaxed. love this for her
True, but it is also 5 years later. She has surely also grown as a person.
@@hastyscorpionyes but honestly I think it’s mainly the environment. She was getting pressured by her bosses and now she’s taking everything at her own pace which is great because it’s coming out of passion more than obligation :)
@@grisfigueroaa true, but also it’s just her against the world. The same way she is not feeling the pressure from her former bosses, she can’t ask other colleagues for help/ideas if she gets stuck, which means she’ll prove to us (and to herself) her real worth, which is A LOT.
@@grisfigueroaa like if this was at the BA test kitchen she would have spent way more time making the stencil for the waffle cones. She stopped herself fairly quickly
@@hastyscorpion ...it's been 5 years?
The reading ingredients really hit the nostalgia button
Yeah, I felt my ❤ warming when Claire read the list
So true, a final "this is how we "recreate" would be full circle.
Claire's recent videos get between 150-300K views usually it seems. This one has 1.3M. Suffice it to say we all wanted this series back and it's great! Glad to see her more relaxed with it and try to both get really close but not break herself over it. Love this for all of the fans of old BA videos
We all just wanted to see her temper chocolate. Maybe next time!
Everyone's favourite series is BACK!
Claire’s least favorite series is back lol
I am so happy
what took so long
Yeah.
@@Matthew_MayoglouI wonder if when leaving BA, if there were a few clauses of no compete for Claire or Vincent. All that happened aside, I would argue if that were the case, it wouldn't be that scummy, it's just general IP protection.
That feeling when the non-compete ✨ expires ✨ this is my comfort series.
I love watching Claire recreate treats, but I would also love to watch her make a "dream" version of the thing she's recreating. Like a truly gourmet version where she mixes up the flavors and ingredients to her personal taste.
Hey Claire! I’m one on the chief researchers at Nestle who helped to developed the Drumstick. You did an incredible job here!!! Just so you know, the part that you call the “bulb” is called the “head”. We had problems with shrinkage too initially, especially in colder temperatures. The way that you handled the nuts at the end was perfect! All of the guys and gals here at the R&D lab gave you a fist pump 💪🏻 for making this wonderful video. We realize it was hard. Amazing job!!!
So sweet
Aww this is so cool!
Very cool
So cool thanks for commenting
you make a comment full of double entendres claiming you are in R&d but you also comment you were always intrigued by what flavour these cones were? bait a little harder
the serotonin burst i get from seeing claire reading the ingredients >>>>>>>>
wow i really missed it 🥹 i'm so glad it's back
Screamed when she read the ingredients. Ahhhh I’ve missed it
got an ear to ear smile from me its so nostalgic
Yeah I love hearing them pronounced correctly instead of my impromptu versions /genuine
I came to say the same thing. I didnt think listening to someone read out ingredients would bring back such joy.
I gasped at this part! Only thing we were missing: brackets & parentheses
Watching Claire go through the whole rainbow of emotions from cocksure, to obsessive focus, to wild & panicked solution pivoting, despair, detachtement, looking up at the clock abd realizing the day is already over but it's felt like 45 minutes, to finally triumph & peacocking brings me right back to my long days as a baker and cake decorator. Claire never gives up, her problem solving skills are unmatched, and she basically baked like a warrior poet here (Braveheart)
**sigh** I have a warm and fuzzy feeling watching this, very emotional. Claire Saffitz is the reason I started baking. Actually, watching her is how I learned to bake. Her almost scientific rigor and methodical, analytical way of explaining and sharing her thought process, completely won me over. I started baking, bought my tools little by little, my parents gifted me her first cookbook for my birthday. I was devastated when the series came to an end. This channel, however, came at the right time.
Now, it's like coming full circle from watching her make Gourmet Doritos in a busy urban kitchen during a global pandemic; with myself laying depressed on my bed, but smiling at a talented, smart, funny, anxious and hardworking woman who became the mastermind behind the best desserts many people that I know have tried.
Thank you, Claire. You've made these tough five years much more bearable and joyful. I hope you'll achieve all your goals, I wish you the best of luck.
Saludos desde México!! 🪅🇲🇽
Im going to cry. This is the best gift the universe could've given us. We don't deserve Claire Saffitz from her home test kitchen.
Well, speak for yourself! I deserve Claire as long as Claire is willing to share herself (and Harris and the cats and the bucolic setting) with us. And so do you, @sillyotter9047 😊😋
😅
the realness of working in her own kitchen with her kitties running around is what this series needed
i'm so happy to see claire back at it again
what a rockstar
I agree!!!! But sometimes I do miss that chaotic test kitchen mayhem always going on in the background 😆
Agreed! Something about the camera shake too makes this feel more "real" It makes it feel much less produced/corporate and reminds me of older youtube.
edit: and hope that doesn't come across as a "the camera guys are bad at their jobs" kind of way lol
I used to be so addicted to your series on test kitchen. I kinda forgot all about it until I got this one in my recommended. I am so happy. It truly used to be my safe space. I am also really happy to see some growth in you. Or perhaps it is due to the different setting. You used to obsess about the details so much that I used to be worried sometimes. Because honestly you were your own worst critic. Seeing the boys behind the cameras being so supportive is so nice. Can't wait to enjoy more of you again Claire
OMG NO WAY!! This makes me SO happy to see Claire recreating different things again 😭 I used to *wait* for a new episode of Gourmet Makes to drop just to see her creative take and improvisation of whatever she was making, it’s good to see her back! 🥰❤✨
I was almost in tears when I saw you're bringing this back on your own. I lost my partner/fiancé of 8 years in February, and I remember watching Gourmet Makes together. Over the years I made him so many of your recipes. Much love Claire
i am so so sorry for your loss
@@tom_wheeler1865 be a normal empathetic person please
I'm sorry for your loss. My late fiance passed back in 2018. Used to loving watching these too! We were together almost 5 years. Crazy to think time flies.
My fiancé passed in August last year, it's something you never really get over. Our wedding was set for October and it's hard knowing that you almost had it all.
I'm voting for Moon Pies... What snacks/meals would you like to see next in this series?
I second the Moon Pies!
OH EM GEE YES!!
Lindt chocolates!
Like 3 or 4 different flavors
this makes me want one SO BAD 😭
38:21 when Claire looks so proud of what she’s done was so moving! So happy this series is back and that Claire is in a healthy and supportive environment to do it 🫶🏽
Why did no one ever tell me about this channel before??? It’s so simple, no music, no crazy editing, just one really smart person going through the process of reverse engineering a factory-made product in a home kitchen. I’m OBSESSED
The SCREAM I just scrumpt!
Scream loud and proud Kristoff Bjorkman!
The GOOSE I bumpt
@@willbear2173 A scream was scrumpt, and geese were bumpt, the return of this series has sure got us pumpt!
I did a squeal with a hand wave. Absolutely delightful. I’m giggling and smiling ear to ear scrolling thru the comments
I want to make it clear that I am not exaggerating here: I audibly went "aaaaaaa" when I saw this thumbnail.
I didn’t know how much I needed to hear Claire read off industrial ingredients. Nature is healing.
This series will stand out because of Claire's ability to figure out the cone's shape and her decision to get some paper and scissors. things's entertaining to watch her strive to get things "just right."
HUZZAH! This was the only thing I really watched on that one channel back then. My partner showed it to me as an example of failing until you succeed, and I got addicted to watching you figure out how to recreate things from my childhood. You are a treasure!
This series ON CLAIRE’S TERMS AND DOING SOMETHING EASILY ACHIEVABLE is so much better than previous, would love to see more ❤ I would love to see a recreation of a Nutty Buddy or a Hostess Cupcake
I mean, I would still say they’re a right challenge, but they _are_ more tailored towards her skills and talents as a pastry chef and don’t really require much industrial equipment and knowledge of technical manufacturing process to achieve :D
I wish it was a tad more challenging. This video missed out on the tension and epic triumphs that made the old series so rewatchable. Plus the interactions with the other test kitchen staff that added to the entertainment value. Overall this video was a snooze fest for me and unless it was more of a challenge I can’t see myself continuing to watch it as a series.
Oooh I second the Nutty Buddy! Those are some of my favorite packaged treats, I would love to see what she would do with it. The construction isn't complicated but the texture of each component is so ... industrial? that idk how she would recreate it or whether she would choose to adjust and improve it instead.
oh my gosh, seeing claire make a return is so heartwarming. I was addicted to the vibe she brought to the test kitchen, and was so sad when covid hit and the show was canned. knowing i have a full 3 years of hidden claire content waiting for me now feels like winning the lottery! hopefully the algorithm shows even more people that you've still been here all this time
can confirm the algorithim did its thing. i changed youtube accounts a year ago and hadn't subscribed to claire or even watched any bon appetit videos, but somehow i still had it reccomended on my feed almost every time :>
the show wasnt just canned because of covid. Half the staff all quit at once in protest because Conde Nast is a terrible company to work for. Morocco is pretty much the only one left.
@@mtl10 ^ I was about to say a big chunk of people from Bon Appétit left because of unfair pay to every POC worker.
@@mtl10it was Rapaport.
It wasn't Covid, it was racism.
My body is so ready for Claire to be back doing this 👏🏼😭 I feel complete again. What a grand time it was and looking forward more!
AAAAAA the reason why this show is so good, is really how Claire showing us that
- You can do or make anything you want with set plans and willingness to adapt
- Claire problem solving is so inspiring
- Just have fun! Nothing is perfect in this world and you learn something new along the way
Such a fun show, I'll be happy watching Claire make anything and it encourage me to make something too! Whether it's a dish, a painting, a writing, anything ❤
Claire figuring out the shape of the cone and getting some paper and scissors is why this series will be so unique. Her wanting to get it 'just right' is very fun to watch.
It just tends to get so chaotic 😭♥️ gotta love Claire
She’s annoying and over complicates everything.
Her trying to perfect the cone and catching herself be a perfectionist by saying "Stop it, stop it" is giving Virgo energy
@@nurlagrande please, comment more! Let CZcams know you like it AND improve the video stats so she make more!
This is science!
Losing this show the first time was a devastating mid-pandemic blow, so happy to see Claire leaning back into it
YES. i'm so glad this is happening. it's wonderful seeing someone recreate this stuff without all the factories and expensive machinery. this has been missing in my life.
Love it!
The only criticism I have is the camera could be held more still - perhaps with the stand/small rig? Hand-held is super hard to keep still for long shots/wide shots where Claire is speaking. The little jitteriness works really well when it's close ups to add that feeling of home-style docu feel that is endearing, but the same thing in long shots kinda took away from my experience.
But such a stellar debut episode and so excited for tiny tweaks and improvements in editing. Vinny+ Claire+Cal dream teaammm!
Yeah, I had trouble focusing with the shakey-cam going on.
Yes!! Shakey cam in long videos gives me a headeache
The thing I loved most about the original and already love about this new series is watching someone smart, skilled, and creative solve problems, iterate on a process, perfect an idea, overcome challenges. Claire, you're truly a gift.
Yes! The whole premise gives such a good 'narrative arc.'
What I love about Claire being in her home kitchen is the fact she's so much more relaxed and she's not stressing about perfection the entire time
seeing Claire having fun with it and being confident makes me like this more than the old show lol, i enjoy the more relaxed vibe
i also like that it's leaning more towards the conceit of "let's make a more high quality version of this snack" rather than just trying to imitate it 1 for 1
The series all of youtube missed. Welcome back Claire!
95% arts and crafts and 5% chaos baking is the iconic series we know and love, SO hyped this is back!!!
And now with three cats!!
Don't feel pressured to make more of these. But please do make more.
the video description says it's a new series... 👀
@@BlueyMcPhlueyshe was on a series on a different channel where she recreated things.
@@BlueyMcPhluey🎉🎉🎉
This made me so happy to see it in my notifications. I found BA through Claire's series on the channel during covid, and I really enjoyed watching them. Then when everything went down with BA, this series was something I really missed. I'm so happy that Claire seams to have worked through some of the residuals of being with BA and leaving (plus probabaly some BTS legal stuff) to now be at a point in her life to want to do this series again, and in a way that she enjoys it and doesn't make her stress out. ❤
i found the "older versions" of these videos and Claire during the pandemic, and I did nothing but watch her for a whole straight week after the shutdown. This episode brings back lots of memories, and it is healing (like everyone in the comment said).
I really love the mutual understanding of Claire’s desire for perfection, and her team being able to get her focused on moving forward, and then Claire’s ability to hear it, and move forward and not over-fuss. It’s really sweet to see the open communication and friendship among the whole team and it just makes me happy.
i agree especially because it felt a bit refredhing knowing that when she was in the ba test kitchen it felt like there were so many moments where claire wanted to give up and just be happy with a certain stage of the product but many other people around her would tell her to redo some aspects
i feel the joy emanating from her as she says 'i dont need to temper it'
in classic Claire fashion, hers turns out picturesque while the og pales in comparison im so happy to see this series return
Lol!!!!!😂😂😂😂
omg, I completely forgot about that 😂
Hopefully this time, the episodes are going to be less stressfull for her, since everything happens on her conditions
The whole comment section is vibing with joy, this series is what made the former channel what it was. And now it's back!
claire this was SO SO SO absolutely *feel good* to watch a video with this concept with YOU again. when things went down at the BA kitchen, i discontinued my support, but missed the creativity. thank you for bringing this back in your own way. i cant wait to see more.
THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LAST. Been loving your content since BA all through your cape cod series but this being back is just the blend we needed. A more relaxed and authentic you doing what we all know and love. So fun and refreshing!
I'd never thought to see gourmet series come back again im so happy
I didn’t expect it, but I had hope. I’m gonna cry lol
@@nailinthefashion SAME!!! All of these years waiting and it's here now I shed a tear😢
@@emblemofflathpfate9912 i ended up crying when she was trying to see if there was a chocolate treat at the bottom, it’s just so wholesome, this is the content I asked for. I’m so satisfied lol
IIRC early in the Dessert Person channel she made confetti cake. I remember her so clearly stating it was NOT Gourmet Makes, lmao.
logging on and seeing that Claire brought this series back has genuinely brightened and lifted my day. i’ve been struggling this past week with horrible body aches due to an autoimmune disease but watching this literally made me feel better.
wow literally same. i hope both of us get out of this flare ASAP!
Hell yeah, I'm so glad the brain happies led to some body relief for you
Claire, I REALLY appreciate you doing this as I sense it was never your favourite? I hope in this format, you can make the most of the bits you enjoyed and do less of the horrible parts that stressed you out. Its such a great concept and I really enjoy watching! Best. X
I haven't watched one of these videos in years and Claire is LOVLEY. Her energy is so calming. I had a chaotic day and her video presence was so relaxing, calming, and gave me allll the little smiles.
The moment when you said you were not going to obsess about getting 100% right because that's when it usually went wrong was actually amazing.
No stress, just trying to make something fun, problem solving but it's not the end of the world if you can't. I feel like that is actually a pretty cool thing to take out of this show
THE SCREAM I SCRUMPT WHEN SHE READ THE INGREDIENTS OH WE ARE SO BACK!!!!!!! (And on Claire's terms no less 🥺)
Watching this genuinely soothed something in me that I didn't know was hurting. Thank you, Claire, for bringing this series back.
Really love seeing this series come back! I really like seeing Claire puzzle out how best to approach this task but it does feel like the editing makes it feel a bit slow. I like the pace slowing down from the old series but maybe a bit quicker for my personal taste. Love seeing Claire recreating classics again!
Picky picky
I have a friend I no longer speak to that we LOVED watching gourmet makes together. Seeing this in a less stressful, safer, and wholesome environment brings me such a bittersweet joy that is difficult to put into words. It fills me with hope for a new phase of life. Idk if you and your team read this, but thank you for moving forward and making such delicious treats feel both attainable and elevated. Hopefully my friend and I make amends, and move forward too. Love your videos
NGL, losing this series was a very low point when you departed from BA/CN (still massively understand why), but...gurl...GURL
This brings me life and i'm so glad you feel comfortable enough to do this again
I love how this video feel like a gourmet version of Gourmet Makes, much more wholesome and palatable!
YES THIS SERIES IS EVERYTHING. The stress, the break down, the high and lows, success, failures. Obsesssssssed!
This is so "Copy the homework but change it a little bit so we don't get into trouble" and I'm living for it.
Hearing Claire say "pick up the torch again" just gave me happiness!!!
A bit seasick from the camera bobbing all over the place, but really glad to see this series back.
Claire recreating was one of my comfort series!!! Its now even more comforting seeing her so happy and more relaxed :') im so excited shes back!!!
The way Claire says *do we have coconut oil? * as if she's in a horror film is sending me. Thank you for this return, this series makes me so happy as I'm sure it does for a lot of other people ❤ All the nostalgic elements are there 🎉
You seemed more natural and relaxed in this video. It made the video so much better that you weren't stressing about everything like you were before.
Hopefully, you feel better after this video than you were seeming with the other videos from years ago.
You just seem, overall, happier here, which makes me happy.
I miss the upbeat BA background music though
@@fjuvome too. I was thinking that the video needs some bg music. Lol
Im so happy to see you again Claire !!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
For perfect domes, i wonder if those red silicone moulds would work ?
For peanut pieces, i wonder if a colander would work?
For measuring the cone for a stencil, my first thought was defrost a cone and moisten it to be able to unfold it lol. I love how creative you are in figuring out how to make your own stencil and your persistence in getting it just right ❤❤❤
I'm so glad to see this series coming back. This is why I fell in love with Claire. My favorite ice cream was the It's It's from back in the day before they started shrinking in size and flavor and lack of raisins in the cookie. Mmmmm
I really hope that Claire doesn’t take this as too much pressure to perform but, bringing this back has brought balance back to the force. The return of the series under her creative control feels like the result of some complicated personal work that we will never fully understand. or I could just be misread that and projecting. All I know is that I really appreciate all of it and I am glad for her. be well, Claire.
Two books, 1.2 million subscribers, and the world cheering her on equals CLAIRE SAFFITZ BEING MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER!
This was so great!! I love watching your actual process. Most of your recipes - which I LOVE, don't get me wrong - you already have done them many times either for your cookbooks or because you have such a huge recipe catalog. With this, we get to see how everything comes together. Just love. Thank you!
Claire my beloved, CZcams has brought me back to the joys of your cooking videos after years. I am so happy.
What I always liked about this series, was that it shows how intelligent and smart Claire is.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE all the original recipes and all, but watching this series being reborn, in your own channel, it just warms my heart!
I’m so happy you’re back and it’s all better than ever. Thanks Claire! You were my comfort watch with my kids during the pandemic. It felt so good to settle in and watch it together these years later. 💙
The earth is healing, love you claire and ALL of your content! I think recreating Cookie Crisp cereal would be really interesting, I’ve always wondered how they accomplish those
Woo Gourmet Makes without stress-inducing Dan!
This is the controlled chaos we've all been missing. Well done Claire, those look better than the actual branded product. Bravo
I love this series so much. I just love seeing the experimentation you go to get the final product. You go into so much detail down to the measurements. Personally if it’s not exactly the same I don’t think it matters.
Other food suggestions could be hi-chews, popcorners or pretzels
What an excellent reintroduction! I'm so glad you read the ingredients. The atmosphere was so much less stressed, too.
I just recreated Devil Dogs for my mom for Mother's Day. That would be my request! I made an ermine frosting and it was divine!
I was coming to comment that the last time I watched Claire recreate something, I had not yet experienced the pandemic, nor the abusive situation I ended up in during it. There are so many people in the comments expressing similar sentiments, it almost makes me emotional. What a sweet celebration of getting back to this small thing we once knew.
Hearing the ingredients being read was music to my ears ❤️ back to the time we all fell in love with Claire!
THANK GOD she’s bringing this back. I loved this series so much 🫶
It's so lovely to see you doing this series in a much more relaxed environment.
And nobody's throwing ingredients at Claire! ❤
I do miss her carrying them all off screen, I used to make a collage of all my screenshots lol
As someone who was OBSESSED with this series, like rewatched more times than I’d like to admit. I love Claire so much, like I would just watch her make stuff and be like “that is the most beautiful, sassy woman I’ve ever seen”, anyways, yeah, Claire is amazing
Claire is a HUGE inspo with all thing baking, I think about Claire's method's and I think I've adopted some of her trail and error response's. So glad shes putting in the time and effort into this style of video, I love it so much! Welldone!
I love love love these series ❤️ I love watched every single one!!! They bring back such a great past time !
So wonderful this is back and Claire is doing it her way. My gripe with the series on BA was that it started out as 'lets make this beloved snack but make it elevated with good ingredients' and turned into 'lets try to recreate this impossible abomination of a candy and stress out Claire and not get even close to the real thing'. So happy for you Claire!
The latter ones were useful, though. It clearly demonstrated that a lot of this stuff is designed for factory production, period. That it's *not* something you could easily recreate in a standard kitchen.
@@jdb101585 yeah but like... everyone already knew you couldn't recreate skittles in a standard kitchen. The show started to feel like 'how can we make poor perfectionist claire as stressed as we possibly can'. Which is why I'm happy this show is out!
What once was shattered, has been remade! And this is such a lovely new version, no longer hostile to Claire.
Oh gosh, the fact that Claire has space for New Thoughts in the middle of the episode is such a breath of fresh air!
I think that "enough for camera crew to enjoy too" is enough of any food that you recreate.
I see the reference, I appreciate. ❤
YES! I'm so so so excited to see you continuing your recreations in this new format. Watching you work through problems and iterate is fascinating. I would love to see you try and recreate local manufactured foods that are difficult to source around the US. Example: Peanut Chews from Philadelphia
i was a huge fan of this series back in the day, but i LOVE that you arent forcing yourself to such extreme lengths for perfection anymore. especially toward the end it just seemed like you were not having any fun, so this is a welcome change. cant wait to see what you do next!
I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW
Me too im so happy this is back 😭😭😭😭
26:29 her speaking louder to combat the noise and somewhat chaotic environment really brings back the same energy of her og stuff which i think is one of the biggest things that differentiates her dessert person videos from her older projects, and that subtle difference really takes me back and makes this a lot more fun for this type of series!!!
This is healing me. I missed watching you recreate things but gourmet!!
So glad to see this series back.
Also I haven't watched yet but really Claire? Tempered chocolate? Your long-standing nemesis? I can't wait.
Claire, I don’t think you realize just how happy you made so many people. Thank you for bringing this series back in a whole new way! ❤️ We all appreciate you so much.
28:40 This editing moment of suspense revealing Claire's anticipated despair imagining if she won't have the single ingredient needed for her to finish in a single day is the prime example of movie magic 🤭✨️
Yesssss, long awaited I really hope it continues plzzzz do more I loveeeee watching this series ❤️❤️
I saw the spark in claire's eyes when she said she doesn't need to temper the chocolate 😂
So happy to have this series back!
Everyone's favorite part is Claire doing this because she was excited and wanted to do so. The stress is gone it's just fun.
Queen, mother to all that have raised many
So glad to see you happy and healthy! ❤
I love watching Claire’s thought process and seeing her ideas develop through trial and error. Figuring out the cone shape alone is so satisfying to watch. And it’s super inspiring to me to see someone work through many ideas and iterating rather than expecting perfection right away. This is only one reason why I love and missed this format!
