- Yamaha revealed a new YZF-R6, adding new engine modes, traction control, ABS and a front suspension system derived from the YZF-R1. The most successful 600cc supersport in AMA Road Racing history also receives new styling including an aerodynamic fairing, lighter aluminum fuel tank and all-LED lighting.

2017 year is really hot.
Suzuki GSX-R1000 and Yamaha R6 are great so far, imo.
First thing u need to do is judo kick that exhaust off.
2017 is going to be FIRE, new cbr1000rr new r6 new gsxr1000......can't wait for the reviews.

Jason Lee the cbr 600 rr is no more, along with the panagale 959, gsxr 600. They aren't euro 4 compliant.

As we can see, it has the same swingarm, frame and many other things from an old R6, and one of the biggest surprise for me was the similar dashboard as on an old R1....

When I started riding a 600 was 4-5 grand!
Seeing a lot of comments about how the engine is the same, blah blah blah. Euro 4 people. Read up on it. You know what else is a good read? Google 2017-2018 cbr600rr and Suzuki gsxr 600. (Spoiler) they are not euro 4 compliant so no new cbr or gsxr. Soon the supersport will be gone if the euro laws get stiffer. This might be the last r6 we will get to see.

again same problem, new fireblade base version expected to be sub 15000 usd. if im paying 12-13 grand to this why not add 1-2 grands more and buy some extra 70 hp with fancier electronics and so on? thats what killed the 600 cc class. sad but true

orkun tufenk and Guarantee you that the sp will not be priced below 15,000. The bog standard cbr 1000 is 13,000 (that the 2016 model which has nothing but abs) the repsol theme is 17,000.
the previous r6 was prettier on the front. those headlights were sex.(09-14 R1 also). I do like both new R1 and R6 but they definately have lost that beauty of the past.

Why not crossplane crankshaft?
Because it won't sell enough to justify a whole new engine.
the real reason for no crossplane is there isn't enough power in the r6 to justify a crossplane. they threw it on the r1 for smoother power delivery to make it easier to throw down all that horsepower.
Maybe but even the 2 cyl mt-07 has a 270 degree crossplane crank.
Well it's a naked bike.. the fz07 already does power wheelies lol. Believe me.. i would freaking love a crossplane on the r6 too. Thats the only thing i was wanting tbh.
nukrozamrud I'm afraid its not as simple as just dropping a different cranc in the old engine casing. It requires a whole new Engine almost. That would raise the costs of the R6 to near thst of an R1 and thus wouldnt be competitive with other 600s

How exactly is R6 design strongly resembling R1 design, a benefit? It was perfect and thet have ruined it. All the marketing people and presenters are going to praise it, just like this guy here, because that's their job and they usually can't judge by themselves.
But is this a better bike? I get the segment is dying a little so development has been a little weak cough cough Honda. So they've taken the old engine which was very good and parts from the R1 which would bring down total development costs had they not shared suspension/brakes. My question though is it better? It's as if the R6 had reached a pinnacle, the segment likewise had peaked and so did we get a bike that's obviously more beautiful (in my eyes) with some modern electronics and yet not as good? Was the last bike the one with all the secret sauce making it the ultimate track weapon? I guess we'll see.

Surprised they actually made this considering all the fuss with the EU exhaust emissions shite, wonder if they've made it EU compliant. I know Triumph and I believe Honda aren't going to bother re engineering their sports line cause they don't sell.
The Cheshire Cat it just needed abs and traction control to be compliant. The engine passed emissions.

I wonder is it runs hotter in the crotch seat area like new R1? Yamaha burning balls and leaving ABS off R3 as five years of Kawasaki and Honda entry level pass them in technology. They seem to only try to boost power not rider safety and comfort.

Why the fuck does the US market always get stiffed on options. Why can't a quickshifter be standard in the US as well? My only guess is that companies want to squeeze every last rusty dime out of US consumers.

If only convert $ 12.00 to R $ this bike would cost R $ 46,000 in Brazil. This bike will not get here for less than R $ 80,000 (US $ 20,000). Sad! Very sad! And to think I had to pay R $ 21,000 (US $ 5.500) on a Ninja 300, half the price of this bike.

Cheap ass no R&D budget "new model". Frame and engine are still the same, it gets ride modes and TC which are unnecessary on a 600.

Blegh. How much is an R1S, $14K? So 85% of the price for 1/2 the HP and a 10 year old engine. I was really hoping they'd at least go crossplane with this. Save your pennies folks. Get an old R6 with aftermarket TC and QS and wait for Chinese Ebay knockoffs of the new fairing and lights.

Ok they make a new chassis and a new motor, how much increase would you like to pay for a new R6? 600 price is already a hard market to place in term of price. In some country like US you got the R1S and if you put an R6 the same price as R1S which one do you think people will pick out of the two. People who buy a 2nd hand or wait until price drop to really low just to buy it, is not really helping Yamaha. They may as well follow Honda and just kill the 600. Just wait until people start reviewing the bike and found out the pros and cons and we can really work out if it is really a fail or not.

Indeed. Comparing this to the older design... Yamaha's design remake of R1 and R6 really sucks. The bikes look bland. What mean look? That massive & plain forehead is ridiculous, the front lights are almost gone...
