It's the same bike with recycled R1 body parts with no engine upgrades. Yamaha must understand that even though people say it's a "track" bike, the R6 is used on the street 90% of the time so they could have focused more on adding some mid range. The engine is not bad it's just not a street type engine. They added power modes which really makes no sense because if you are riding on the street, it has suck azz midrange so u won't feel the power until u you are high in the Rev range. The R6 is not a bad bike, it's actually one if not the best bike in its class but if your going to debut a "New" R6 then that means tweaking or coming out with a brand new engine. I wouldn't pay nearly $13000 for this bike when I can get a 16 R6 for $9699.00 out the door. Fucking madness..Yamaha is playing you if you buy this bike with a few rider "aides" and an "optional" quick shifter and oh yea the bodywork but it's ur azz and your money. Do what the fuck you wanna do.

I don't like that they made it look like the r1
I had the 2006 R6. I used it exclusively for commuting. The downside of the R6 is the low and mid revs power. A bit disappointed to see that they kept pretty much everything the same under the body work. I still prefer the old styling though.
That's why when you are on a public road you keep it on the low and mid because you don't want to mess with this bike on the road. If you want to test its potential test it on track.
i went through 8 videos of r6 reviews and not one of the showed it running with sound and only talks about it =/

The seat looks like from 09 R1. And is quickshifter optional accessory .. ? Common. It should have qs and autoblipper as standard by now

How about riding position for daily use? is comfortable than older version R6
this thing is for track use more than everyday street riding. Hard seat , no power down low, everything in high rev range etc
so for daily use, is cbr 600RR or ZX6R for sport bike?
look into the 2008 cbr 600rr if you want comfort and performance. The zx6r isnt bad, suzuki gsxr600 is pretty comfy too.

Immortan Joe just go to the bike shop, sit on a few different bikes, see what fits you best, I found my yzf600r very comfortable for daily riding but it is already over 10 years old , I myself am still looking for a replacement with good looks, usable power and long distance comfort. Maybe a Honda CBR 1000 is a good compromise.

Why the same generation of r6 has like 6hp less than zx6r and still win many races. Because it handles better? 6hp on a bike is more noticeable than on a car, and 8-9 times lighter Depends what sports car About 35 hp in car term.
Just lots of marketing bs.. But nothing about how it really rides .. Other reviews I've read actually say the bike does handle very different to old R6, totally different sitting position, corner feel, etc.. Now that would be interesting to hear bout from them.

Clutchless upshifts? I think he means full throttle upshifts. You can do clutchless on any bike

Not every bike. Take a 1985 Yamaha 110cc YSR. Ride it and you can't clutchless upshift
Well obviously there's some, you couldn't do it on a 1950's Vincent either. But on 95% of 1990's bikes onwards you can, apply pressure to the gear lever and quicky shut and open the throttle and it will up shift with no clutch. I have been riding and racing bikes for 25 years and worked as a journo for a bike magazine, ridden hundreds of different bikes, not ridden one yet that doesn't do it.
