  • Japan is COMPLETELY different in vibe from anything we've played before. We are isolationists (at least to start!) and must build a complete industry chain from scratch. Do we open our borders? Do we open other people's borders... by force? Let's find out!

    Sweet, now let's see if he noticed the restoration.

    Quill, the restoration hasn't been ticking for several episodes now because you need to have the Shogunate out of the governament.

    I love how Quill hovered over the 19, saw that the efficiency bonus cap was 20, and then didn't build one more to get to that efficiency cap bonus. Never change.

    3:29 It's weird, but the Economies of Scale throughput doesn't work with round numbers. That is, because it gets a 1% throughput bonus for every building level built on a place that has that building.
    TL;DR: For you to fill the Economies of Scale, the number of building levels has to end in 1: EoS 20 needs 21 buildings, EoS 30 needs 31, and EoS 50 needs 51 buildings.

    Seriosuly Quill you started the interventionism at 10% if it happens its a miracle and you'e wasted so much time and resources workign through the problem rather than around it.

    17:11 well one way you can lower the Monks' power is cut your education institution to level 1. They're getting +30% for Level 3 Education. I think your universities can carry you well enough through dethroning the Monks lol.
    *edit:* Also getting rid of the production methods for urban centers (state -> free churches IIRC), etc. will help dethrone them.
    edit 2:
    22:58 Randy giveth, Randy taketh away. ;)
    (~) 27:20 Eh, something to be careful of is to don't subsidize and _forget_ it. Subsidize until it's stable and there's sufficient demand for the good so they can self-sustain. If you cut subsidies and they start firing people, the good is too cheap and the industry can't sustain that level of hiring without shedding employees.

    This whole episode is Quill tryna make supply-side economics work without clicking any of the buttons needed to make demand happen (like actually finishing the upgrade of his army).

    Haha, investment pool almost completely spent, running at a deficit, and the solution is ... build more construction sectors!
    It will be fun to see the debt crisis unfold.

    @quill18, are your government admins and universities on secular administration? if not that could explain the massive clout for the religious faction.

    Check your production methods. I don't recall you having kicked the monks out of government administration nor the urban centers.

    I swear there's a hidden modifier behind the scenes that increases the Stall modifier silently if a party that opposes the Law is in government. I've seen laws stall at a looooooooooong time with 30+% success chance, in that kind of scenario. If the main opposition to the law isn't in government, they seem to go through much faster with the same success chance.

    IMO it's boring to try to brute force interventionism by getting a lucky die roll. Wouldn't it be more interesting to slowly strategize how to build up the interest groups that you want instead of just waiting around until you manage to force through a policy that your whole country doesn't want? This playstyle makes the game much more one dimensional than it needs to be.

  • @ff8ff7
    @ff8ff7 Před 21 dnem +5

    I know you are probably many episodes ahead already, but why do you keep building fishing buildings when they are some of your least profitable options and you could be industrializing instead?

    • @paulzagieboylo7315
      @paulzagieboylo7315 Před 21 dnem +6

      He was building them because they were something he could build out of the investment pool, so they were basically free, and they employ shopkeepers (who sometimes vote for Industrialists). It's not a great strategy, but he didn't really have any great strategies.

    • @Archangelusbe

      He did: he could have built the god damn gold mines. 🤦‍♂️
      Too bad he doesn't actually read any of this, let alone learn from his past mistakes.

    • @ff8ff7
      @ff8ff7 Před 20 dny +2

      @@Archangelusbe Maybe a smidge harsh. When he releases these he is probably already done with the game.
      But these would be better if he were to play more on speed 3 or 4 instead of 5. Constant missed events timing out, or talking about how he doesn't understand how something works when he has the tooltip on screen that directly answers his question.

    • @Archangelusbe
      @Archangelusbe Před 20 dny +1

      I know it's harsh, but he has been doing this for years and it gets pretty frustrating after watching so many of his videos where he just keeps bashing his head against the wall.
      Unless someone on Twitch or Discord says something he won't pay attention to any of this.

    • @ff8ff7
      @ff8ff7 Před 20 dny

      @@Archangelusbe I know it is frustrating to watch, and I'd personally be more entertained if he played better. However, he is a content creator and is forced to play differently on stream than he does off stream. I'm assuming he only plays Victoria 3 on stream so is still rather fresh to the game and learning, but playing at a pace that doesn't really allow for learning the game.
