The exterior is a pinnacle of car design. I was never a big fan of the futuristic fighter jet interior on newer cars though.
Looks absolutely great. It has everything to be called MR3. Either way, this car makes you fall in love.

Toyota nailed the design and it looks like JAPAN more cares about the looks of their EVs than USA and EURO does. If you're gonna drive, drive in style!

I recall lotus was willing to sell the tooling for the Evora chassis for the right price. First thought that crossed my mind was that Toyota would make the plunge when rumors spread of the resurrection of the MR2. Roofline is giving me strong Evora vibes.

@argatar You are correct. None the less, I'm getting lotus vibes. Toyota hasn't launched a sports car in recent years without collaborating with another manufacturer. Using a lotus chassis makes the most sense

It still pollutes NOx emissions, it’s horribly inefficient, it produces embarrassingly little horsepower, and your tank will practically drain overnight because of the properties of hydrogen (literally; gaseous hydrogen will escape the fuel tank and enter the atmosphere at an alarming rate when the car is not in use). E-fuels are a much better option to keep ICEs alive
for participation in GT300, it is very likely that it will receive the V8

Yeah, gotta chime in let it happen Toyota, the design is going to be timeless once again. People will of course have to warm up to it at first, but just like back in the day no one liked the curves of the MKIV Supra. I think this design is a winner and IF this is indeed the MR2, then hell yes!
The MR 2 is a beautiful car i owned a 2004 spyder and everywhere i went people would take pictures at traffic lights , or get out of there cars look at my car talk to me about it ! it is a master piece .
Maybe make a grmn version with 500 HP(200 from ev tech and 300 from gr 3 cylinder engine)

As an existing GR Yaris and Mk1 MR2 owner I’ll be delighted to order one of these on the condition it has a engine. I’m not interested in any electrified nonsense. It ideally also needs a manual gearbox and removable hardtop. Commit to that and I’ll place my deposit tomorrow!

@marklee7545 Yrah anyways don't think this will have a ICE engine. This car is sitting on their new ev platform chassis. Plus we got another 2-3 years before this mr2 comes out
I think the most important thing is whether or not its mid engine. I've always wanted an ultra rare orange mica Rev 5 SW20 to go along with my cosmos blue/purple mica, but this FT-SE in orange would be the next best thing

@@alkane6467 Aren't you a late comer...anyways there is plenty of interviews with the lead engineer and designer this wont be a MR2, In fact this is looking more and more like Toyotas new halo car(could even come states side as a lexus), probably going to cost around 80k+
But some specs, 0-60 time in 3 secs, engineer stated he aims for over 400km, wit wont be solid state battery but will be Toyotas lastest EV platform. The car is the length of a GR86 and the width of a GR Supra. You can read more from Top gear magazine or car&driver magazine.
Superb design concept! Hopefully it’s not just an BEV. Do it like F1 and Indycar, utilize hybrid tech to enhance performance over a standalone ICE.

If you're making a petrol version as well as an EV version I'm hoping you're going to use Yamaha's V4 1.7L engine from the VMax as it sounds like a v8 and is reasonably powerful at nearly 200hp, this would also make it the only car in the world with a v4 while remaining light compact and very strong.
the Vmax engine is very, very old..
used the 2.5L 5GR-FE V6 from toyota would be more interesting I think

Honestly i dont mind this being an ev. If people want an ICE sports car from Toyota, they already have the GR86. I guess Toyota is just feeling like offering something new that people may or may not want.
people want a mid-rear engine car that doesn't weigh 2 tonnes and doesn't cost a house = a 4th generation Toyota MR2!
the GR86 is a drift machine, the track machine is the MR2

It seems they are releasing a ev only lineup this time, however I'm gonna be exceedingly optimistic and say that the lowercase e in a name that's only uppercase even in all the other videos gives me the impression this car could be offered with other options, maybe in a close future it can be changed for an H?

This could have been AMAZING, but it's an EV. No thanks, Toyota. Without Akio Toyoda, you are lost. This should have a GR Corolla engine in it and be lightweight with a T-Top/Targa roof. It could have been great. Now it's garbage because it's EV. We don't want EVs. Hybrids at most.

I was super excited then I realized it was a battery EV... Battery EV tech just isn't ready for primetime and really hasn't been since it's inception back in the early 1800s. It's continued shortcomings are why ICE became the standard.

Yeah, ok. Is that why the whole world is switching to EV and hybrids? Is that why every country is banning new ICE vehicles after 2030? Some European countries have already set the ban for 2025.
@@ytsux9259government regulation is creating an artificial demand for evs. Ev may be the future if battery technology becomes cheaper, lighter(more dense) and the potential resource bottleneck is solved. Also if societies move to re renewable energy happens quick enough(it won’t) Also most countries energy grid system would have to be revamped. I don’t see all this happening by 2030. I actually don’t see it happening by 2040. Politicians just back regulations that will help them get re elected. They don’t understand all the technical hurdles necessary to get there.
