- A lot of new and interesting small arms at SHOT Show 2024 with some prototypes, new ideas and some weapons developed for various programmes. This definitely isn't an exhaustive look at the interesting things from the show, that would be a big task, but these are some of the systems I got a good look at.
I will have some more detailed video on some of these weapons in the future.
Weapons Featured:
FN IWS
High Ground Defense 3-Barrel Minigun
FN MRGG
Ohio Ordnance Works REAPR
Geissele MRGG
Beretta NARP

Weapon Co every year: LOOK WE HAVE 10X NEW M16
God the REAPR reminds me of if an MG-34 was designed in 2024. Tubular receiver and all.
There's some inspo there.
@@TheArmourersBench thank God, I thought I was just a wehraboo for a second lmao
@@TheArmourersBenchBecause it's roller delayed as well
@@invictusangelica MG-34 is short recoil rotating bolt. MG-42 is short recoil roller locked.
@@tiortedrootsky Then I'd wager that it's like an MG42 in an MG34 chassis then
Did you happen to catch a glimpse of the Pindad Booth? Really hope they push through with those FNCs for the U.S Domestic Market
No, I went down there on Friday but they'd already gone. Exciting to see FNCs available though.
Hey brother it was really good meeting you and chatting with you at shot show. You seem like a really good guy, and I wish you nothing but luck with your endeavor. I'll be tuned in.
-Valorius
Good to see you too Val! Thanks mate.
@@TheArmourersBench No worries man, I'll make sure I comment on your videos more often. I've been watching them for a while I just didn't comment often.
I did an interview with pindad at their Booth they said they are going to bring them the market I will have the video up in the next week at the most.
My SHOT Show 2024 notes: 1) FN's .264 LICC has performed well at body armor penetration without resorting to increased chamber pressures like the 6.8 NGSW. Unfortunately, military has just started testing and civilians won't see it any time soon. 2) Knight Armament's LAMG is in service with the U.S. Ranger Regiment. About time! I've been waiting for this wonderful weapon to be put to use. 3) Geissele's 6mmARC offerings continue in use with a DOD entity - my educated guess is with those Angry Sailors. Geissele uses soundly applied engineering to strengthen the AR bolt for use with the 6mmARC, among other innovations. 4) I challenged Ohio Ordnance on both the REAPR's recoil mitigation and the reliability of their unique slide-out feed tray and they answered both to my satisfaction. I hope their weapon goes far. (.338 Norma Magnum cartridge makes for an awesome belt of ammo!)
Where did info on 1, 2 and 3 come from?
@@invictusangelica 1) From J. with a long beard of FN. 2) From A. also with a similar beard at Knight's. 3) From F. with a bald head and white handlebar moustache of Geissele.
@@RexusOutfitters So from sales reps?
@@invictusangelica If none of that rings a bell, then, cool. OK. Sure. Sales reps.
@@RexusOutfitters Yeah Idk about sales reps because heck, SIG's sales rep said that they had bullpup experience and here we are with no SIG bullpup
Always enjoy your thoughts on military small arms from a non-American perspective. Brits don’t enjoy the same access to firearms as we Americans do, so seeing new firearms not necessarily as an end-user but more from a defense angle is really appreciated.
Most CZcams videos and comments are usually along the lines of “how much” and “when can I buy it?”
Personally I like hearing about how new firearms can impact the defense industry and military/paramilitary organizations.
Thank you! That's really nice to hear. I appreciate it.
There was some really neat stuff this year but the one I liked the best for me, is the new double action only 1.5 stack Kahr Arms 9mm that takes 365 mags.
Nice work. Looking forward to some videos on individual products.
Thank you!!
I'm betting the KS1 will be extremely successful in the field. Getting suppressors, thermals, magnified optics, and night vision to play nice with each other can be a struggle, and the incremental improvements they've employed to both cut down on its thermal signature and maximize its own sensors detection range are impressive. I read somewhere the thermals alone are 20k per unit, and that's '£' not '$'. The MOD appears to be taking the concept of maximizing the effectiveness of individual soldiers seriously.
Cheers Matt, I'll see if Jonathan F is able to add anything. Andrew
First I’ve seen the new beretta neat thanks
Better look at it soon!
It's not exactly relevant to this video but the 3rd assualt brigade in Ukraine recently released a video showing modifications for ak 74s and older M16s which give them more modular options, they are quite simple but they look pretty neat. Would be awesome to cover that if you haven't already. Love the Vids.
Sounds right up my street was that on their Facebook / telegram?
The scale and capabilities of the 3rd OShBR is uncommonly massive in this day and age when you sit down and think about it.
They have a wait-list to join, they bridge the gap between conventional light infantry and SF, and due to popular reception among the Ukrainian public (volunteers and all) their ranks have swelled to that of a division strength unit. Considering their organization and ethos, I'd classify them as specialized infantry. They pay extra attention to individual training and equipment similar to special operation units, but have the bulk and sustained presence generally associated with typical infantry brigades.
We haven't seen a specialized infantry outfit this large since WW2. For reference, the Americans had 6 Ranger battalions (which if consolidated, would be about the size of a reinforced brigade in today's terms).
However, the world record has to go to the British Empire. The British Armed Forces had 15 Commando battalions in the European Front, 5 more Commando battalions operating in the Middle East theater. In the Burma front, the British Indian Army had Chindits which stood 9,000-12,000 strong, that amounted to about two brigades' worth of troops (although all were organized into small independent units, with traditional battalion and brigade structures quickly abandoned). All in all, the British Empire in WW2 operated (nominally) 6 brigades' worth of men operating in Specialized Infantry roles at the peak of hostilities.
@@TheArmourersBench It was on their telegram and their CZcams channel.
@@prfwrx2497 yeah and the veterans of the 3rd are some of the most battle hardened men in existence, going up against the largest country in the world that's known for their endless stockpiles of artillery and yet they push through, they are also creating their own recon battalion leading up to this spring, there is only 2 seperate recon battalions so far and thats the 14th and now 414 marine battalion which is magyars birds, i suspect that a lot of the bigger growing brigades will probably have a recon battallion since mobilized men will get to chose their role, ukraine is going to have to mobilize again but they are trying to make it as fair as possible as to not sow distrust in the public.
So many things I'll never be able to get
i need that mini gun... i got an attic squirle problem thats killing me
Thanks for another great video!🇦🇺👴🏻
Nice overview.
Thanks!
I thought Holosun's experimental thermal pistol sight was interesting. Not just for being a really small thermal, but also they way they overlay the image in the red dot glass.
Yeah it seems super promising. I'd love to try one at night.
@@TheArmourersBenchthe outline mode on the thermal sight is just insane. Optic wise that was to me the clear show winner.
Hey Matthew, what do you mean by "phased gas system"? Does it bleed off more gas the further the piston travels travels?
What are your thoughts on 6.5 LICC? It's fascinating to see how many of the hot new cartridges are 6 to 7 mm in calibre, from 6mm ARC to 6.8 SIG. This may be the new Goldilocks zone for individual weapon systems. Crewed weapons seem to be gravitating towards .338 calibre (both Norma Mag and Lapua Mag).
Is the Ohio REAPR actually a delayed blowback gun? From a cursory glance it seems more like a roller-locked short recoil design (think MG42).
Thank you for your continuous updates from SHOT, looking forward to full videos in the near future!
Great question, so what I understand is it's a port with numerous apertures that evens out the flow of gas into the port.
I like the sound of LICC, it's hot but not excessively hot. I'm not sure which of the rounds is going to float to the top in the end though. Lot of factors with that. Definitely agre we are seeing a general shift towards high velocities and longer range rounds for both individual weapons and support weapons. It's very interesting.
Yeah, it isn't a locked action from my understanding, thinking it's kind of an MG45 type system. Sounds really promising.
Glad you enjoyed them! Appreciate it.
@@TheArmourersBench Thanks, much appreciated.
Ad. 1 - Gotcha. It seems that the AR market is shifting gears again. For years the OEMs only ever gave the public new iterations of their piston systems. It's fun to watch DI start getting a similar level of attention these days (see KAC).
Ad. 2 - Agreed. It seems that the gun world has finally come to the same conclusions as the designers of 6,5x55, .276 Pedersen and .280 British Second Optimum. The recent wave of new cartridges in the US Special Forces community (6.5 CM, 6 ARC, 6.5 LICC) may be a sign of the things to come.
Ad. 3 - Now THAT'S fascinating! Am I right in saying that the most recent delayed blowback MG that's been adopted by any mainstream military is the AA-52? I wonder how they made this action work with a cartridge this powerful.
Once again, thank you!
Many brown guns
Brown is the new black
So hot right now.
Hi Matt, very interesting to see that the Royal Marines are adopting 6.5CM. Any other platforms/systems coming in that calibre, you are aware of?
For the US SOCOM are seeing it with the MRGG and I suspect there's other SF elements around the world using it already. The UK might be one of the first to move towards it for wider issue but they haven't yet selected a cartridge loading to standardise I believe.
@@TheArmourersBench, may I ask if you're aware of any users using a 6.5CM machine gun?
The Beretta NARP says 3.3 kg empty. Is that the 11.5 version?
No I believe the mid length gun.
Thing with the two M72s makes me think they really should try making that M202 but taking LAW rockets idea a reality.
👍👍
Did you ask the Knights Armament people why it's been bandied around that the KS1 will be 'more lethal' than every other 5.56m rifle?
Marketing!
That new machine gun is interesting but I'd rather have the new MG338 or XM250.
That new MG is gonna compete against the SIG MG 338 and General Dynamics-True Velocity LWMMG for the SOCOM's LMG-M program
@@invictusangelica Wait really? That's neat
@@APIpizza297 Yes
Didn't geissele win the contract and supplied their own suppressor?
Good question, I'm not sure will double check that but they both had the Hux cans at the booth.
Trying to capture a rifle in portrait mode is truly idiotic
Yep. But when it's originally filmed as a YT Short/IG reel it's the only way.
Shot show this year seemed very meh. Nothing super crazy or cool. Looked like a lot of stuff that is “Long-term projects” meaning, we will never ever see them available
Lot of lever actions.
@@TheArmourersBench lever guns in 2023 are like kissing your cousin cool
The recent lever gun surge makes me think the gun industry is privy to something we don’t fully know. Especially with election year coming up, maybe they’re prepping for the possibility of an AWB passing and getting signed, so they’re trying to secure a foothold in the market asap. Just a thought.
@@DocMitchell69there are 2 statets that passed AWB in 2023 it's plenty of new market space for lever gats and other manual actions
@@TheArmourersBench and .32 revolvers
The M16 was a mistake.
Why is everything coming out of the industry right now so damn ugly? Not a single one of these looked even remotely ok.
Hahah. I guess it's the eye of the beholder!
