Are There More Psychopaths Now Then Ever?
Consider giving a like if you enjoyed the video.
More people on the planet than there ever has been, so perhaps there are
@@Chief244 Fair Enough.
I believe there is. Social media and the ease of access to thousands of people have basically created a large group of people that would fall under the banner of Psychopath. This is because the social media is all about gaining a collection of short term gains/gratification (Likes, comments, subscribers and thumbs up from a multitude of people) from a large group of the population thus people engage in this behavior thus more Psychopaths.
Sad enough you see this in dating Jordan openly states in one of his talks that the men who have the best success on dating apps are psychopaths. So if you wanna get better at dating you need to develop and cultivate psychopathic behaviour. By extension this means the uptick in Psychopaths is because of women because women continue to choose to sleep with and date Psychopaths. Men in order to stay competitive in the dating market have to become Psychopaths.
id argue weve always had the same amount of psychopaths, i think the way the world is today so transparent with evil, that its easy to find more psychopaths. you see the black girl who killed the white girl in missouri? looks like it to me.
I think psychopaths dont build vendettas against people, so when they mention it at 4:47 i think psychopaths are more impersonal and are actually screwing people over for their own gain, because psychopaths lack so much empathy and typical emotions, that there is an element of neurotypical emotional pain from building a vendetta, that psychopaths don't really hold.
if a psychopath is betrayed, he'll be pissed off, but he doesnt do things out of anger, he does things out of self interest. now granted, who is to say that psychopaths don't ever act neurotypical? we all have mixes of black and white in us. the psychopath consciously screws over other people, knowing full well of the consequences and the ramifications of their choices. the psychopath doesnt care. thats the endline goal. if a child steals an orange, its out of ignorance, a psychopath isnt ignorant.
the real question is, do we want a psychopath to be defined as evil, or simply mentally ill and challenged?
Yes they're called women
I have the feeling Destiny is not really listening. He just wants to disprove JP on every level. Edit: i meant in this part of the video. In total I do think it was a very nice debate.

“Ok yeah that might be True” said the video gamer to the psychologist after being explained the definition of psychopathy
But what definition is that, though? It varies a lot, depending on which person or professional you're asking. I imagine many of them would flat out reject the term, as it isn't part of the diagnostic manuals and no longer defined within a scientific framework. It went out of such use decades ago. Now it's just a layman's term or a short-hand, making your entire point moot.

I wouldn't use labels to discredit someone. Sometimes someone that isn't a major for instance can still be correct. Not that I believe this is the case here I do stand by the idea that Jordan is right, but I see it more as one did more research and spent more time on practicing the field than the other. I see this criticism too much. He uses open language all the time, like how he says "I feel like" rather than "this is this way I know it" type language.
@@GalaxyGeassS2 It's an apt criticism. It's bad to overuse hedging, and Destiny does it way too much. Especially for how arrogantly he stands by his opinions. If all you use is fuzzy words you yourself become fuzzy. This is useful to obfuscate yourself from potential attackers, which is a cowardly tactic for someone as aggressive as Destiny. This is fundamentally because Destiny values optics over integrity, in my opinion. ⬅(reasonable hedging in practice)
Im going to rewrite my comment while overusing hedging, so you can see what it looks like.
I think that it's a somewhat reasonable criticism. It probably isn't good to overuse hedging, and Destiny possibly does it a bit too much. Especially for how arrogantly I feel that he stands by his opinions. If all you use is fuzzy words you could feasibly become fuzzy yourself. This might be useful to obfuscate yourself from potential attackers, which could be a cowardly tactic for someone who seems aggressive as Destiny. This is assumedly because Destiny probably values optics over integrity, in my opinion. ⬅(way too much hedging)
You can see how the second example is much weaker.
@@Tryin2Bnice45 Health professionals don't tend to use the diagnostic terminology in their every day talks with people outside of the profession. And Jordan isn't wrong for using it, quite frankly it's more helpful to have a low resolution model for most people who don't read up on medical journals.
But if you have watched any current practicing therapist and psychologist who talk about their profession and they have gone over psychopathy in the last 5 years. They still use it, but I can't remember the last time I saw someone mention the word and not come with the disclaimer that psychopathy is technically still no longer being used as a diagnosis, and is now put under the ASPD umbrella when they retired DSM-5. Having followed Destiny for a bit, I'm sure that is how he has heard it described before he then read up on what they were citing or when he can he'll just ask people he knows who's job it is to know these things. But he's was obviously not going to waste time trying to get into the weeds of arguing about it the way Jordan and Sam got stuck on what the word truth meant. Something Destiny knew could be a possibility going in and wanted to avoid it at all cost, so the OG post is actually silly.
The mistake I see so many people here make is that they treat this clip and their interaction as if it's a zero sum game. Like Jordan's recent conversation with Alex if you had actually seen them talk about it before hand you would know they went on his show. Because there are things that he's said they genuinely wanted some clarifications on but haven't actually gotten to that point. Since so many people who have tried to talk to him about it would do one of two things. Either be hostile because they are so stupid they can't tell the difference between Jordan and Tate. Or they don't really challenge him on when he goes around the question. The talks and their goals were different but I think Alex did a better job than Destiny. Jordan still danced around certain subjects for reasons I don't understand, but for once Jordan would actually steelman the person asking the question and give additonal clarifying examples where I for the first time finally got the sense that Jordan doesn't dance around it because he wants to be able to flirt and dogwhistle to certain subsections of the audience to use his answers as scapegoats.
For instance when they went into the example about how if Jordan was a witness to a crime, he wouldn't afterwards tell the cops interviewing him who asked him what he saw "what do you mean by see exactly?"
@@ShmoeBoe Nailed it! Its an easy way for him to ditch, an unpopular statement or opinion he said, or take the praise when what he said resonates. Psychopathy is to crave (or merely acquiesce) to be part of a social hierarchy (ANY social structure, on any rung of the ladder, for that matter) that is, in itself, an embodiment of criminal insanity. This world is a cosmic prison for criminally insane. It has to be, there’s no other way of explaining it.
@@claudiamanta1943 This is unintelligible.
You are saying psychopathy is to desire to be a part of a criminally insane social hierarchy? Meaning psychopathy means to want to be a part of a preconceived group comprised of psychopaths, this is self referential and meaningless. You need to ground yourself man, drink some tea look at nature for a while.

Peterson is a psychopath. He has lost his mind and they are going to take his license away. He is a failure and a disgrace and he wears ugly clothes too what a strange person.

That was beautiful to watch, Jordan's patience and intelligence is incredible
This was actually an intellectually informative conversation about the topic. It could go on for hours or days if all the right questions were asked. But it was a decent amount of information in such a short time
Jordan Peterson is at his best debating people who challenge him.
Thank God for people like that.
Destiny seems to want to find a line between psychopathy and non-psychopathy, and between force and not-force. In reality, people won't agree on where that line is. We *might* be able to agree to the extremes.
I think this is true of many (most?) things that aren't an atomic construction of parts, but a pattern that is recognized. I.e. where do you draw the line between a chair and a non-chair? That kind of thing...
Peterson is just so clear and strong and mature, and a deep intellect. The guy on the right side of the screen comes off like kind of an irritating. inexperienced high school kid. This was a dramatic mismatch. Can't give it a thumbs up...sorry.

He very specifically said "it's not A definition of psychopathy, it's THE definition." He was attempting to socially dominate destiny, which is funny given how the conversation started. And he was objectively flat out wrong. It happens, doesn't mean jp is dumb. But this was wrong of him to say. Destiny let him roll with it even though he obviously knew that wasn't the real answer. I don't watch either of these two at all but this definitely puts destiny in a light of a gracious and interested debater and JP as an arrogant man who refuses to back down when he realizes he's made a mistake.
Peterson, schooling destiny is the best thing ever.
Holy cow. Destiny needs to shut up and listen. Like the Woke generally he knows a little about many things (enough to be absolutely wrong, for the most part) and generally unwilling to move beyond his ignorance.
Yeah... we haven't watched the same debate buddy. Both of these guys were respectful trough the conversation. And destiny even though he disagreed took the time to understand jordans arguments before saying what he thinks. To be fair he was right when he said that people care less about the debate itself then making their side seem educated and calm and opponents unhinged and insane. The amount of knowledge Destiny thinks he has, but knows nothing about, is absolutely staggering. The fact anyone calls Destiny smart is laughable.
It's typical Lib behavior. They use made up, well flowed words to say nothing.
He definately is smart based on some of the debates I've seen. He's just not all that knowledgeable on this particular subject matter.
I can't stand destiny but let's keep it real...he's a smart guy for sure but he is totally out of his depth against a true intellectual like Peterson.

Never have I heard anyone define psychopathy this way, I actually thought it didn’t make sense but thinking about it it holds up pretty well.
This interview was one of the most amazing things I have witnessed, Destiny laid out his motivations, and almost told us that he could no longer be taken as someone who is misguided and still seeks truth, he just fell off the paid shill cliff. It was a masterful performance by Jordan Peterson, I’ve never seen anything like it.
Please elaborate
The first thing Destiny said after hearing that being unagreable was related to psychopathy was "I agree."
Just because someone says they are an expert in something doesn’t mean everything they say is correct. He could’ve disagreed with something JP said and JP could’ve interjected with statements of clarity for the sake of clearing up misunderstandings. I can disagree with a doctors assessment or diagnosis and go to a second opinion. Experts aren’t always right. Look at the beginning of the pandemic and how Experts were trying to figure it out. It wasn’t until later that we got the real answers.
🤣
Disagreeableness Is just one of the traits in the big 5 personality model. It's only related to psychopathy in so far that being a man is related to psychopathy.
@@ShmoeBoe Its in the disagreeable qualities and traits that links it to psychopathy. I'm a clinical psychologist.
@@andreiadetavora8471 I'm not sure what you are saying? I'm saying that being disagreeable does not make you a psychopath. I'm not disagreeing that the disagreeable trait is necessary for psychopathy. Like how putting wheels on grandma doesn't make her a car.
I haven't a tinker's clue why Jordan would spend even 5 minutes debating someone who is clearly way out of his depth but presuming that he knows something and acting that he's on Jordan's level.
It's like everyone forgets he's actually a psychologist
I wonder why that is
In the security business we were taught that the first level of force was verbal persuasion. I disagreed. I believe the first level of force is nonverbal persuasion. In any case I find it interesting that force does not always have to be physical.
It doesn’t have to be physical. It can be a threat of inducing physical force.
Its really a matter of what the (en)forcer thinks will be the most effective route initially, within the bounds of the circumstance.
Its not necessarily/definitively either. Dependent on the person and the circumstance.
In normative, legal and active use of force the verbal level is the first one because you need to protect yourself about litigious individuals and institutions.
But if it's not physical, it becomes highly subjective and the term loses meaning. How about we just use a different word?
The first defense of an animal is its roar, it escalates from there.
As someone who usually can't stand listening to Mr. Peterson talk about subjects like philosophy and religion. I always find it a great pleasure to hear him talk about psychology, he's really a great deal more concise, articulate, knowledgeable and engaging as a speaker on the subject.
When you hear him talk about religion one is often left with the impression he doesn't know where it's going, that he has finished formulating the thought yet.
I feel like you must either have a distain of religion or a lack of interest for theology to have this opinion. His theological content is some of the most insightful content I have ever consumed.
The DSM-V defines it as “a youth diagnosis of conduct disorder with the addition of so-called “callous unemotional” (CU) traits, which manifest as a lack of guilt and remorse, a callous lack of empathy, a lack of concern about one’s performance on important activities, and a general lack of emotional expression”
This whole discussion kicked ass. Good for both of them!
There's a recent study I heard about recently that said that 10 male psychopaths to 1 female psychopath is not accurate, that it's actually 1.2 male psychopaths to 1 female psychopaths. Which would probably nearly double the amount of psychopaths in the world. Considering the number of psychopaths in society was pegged at between 4 to 6 percent... probably mean psychopaths are around 10 percent!
The amount of psychopaths changes depending on wether or not there is social unrest.
They increase when society allows them to exist, basically. So the amount of psychopaths increasing among women should tell you something
Even within psychopaths most prolly dont act out in a way that will shed themselves in the light. Like murder
Less so in women
Jordan peterson has said that social media has acted as a catalyst and enablement of online forms of psychopath. With the majority of it's users being female if I'm not mistaken, then naturally female psychopathology would rise as a consequence
Is that study made with biological females ? or includes trans ones?

Psychopathy is a neuropsychiatric disorder marked by deficient emotional responses, lack of empathy, and poor behavioral controls, commonly resulting in persistent antisocial deviance and criminal behavior.
That’s from like 5 different sources I looked all over for the definition JP said and I can’t find it.
JP does this a lot he’s using the ancient art of yapping while appealing to his authority as to not get called out when he is lying
JP is just explaining definitions in what he has worked with in his field for decades and Destiny is trying to win some sort of imagined argument.
Or maybe his less specialized study is leading him to push for clarity. You probably don't get a lot of participation points in class huh

Ive a doctorate in psychopathy. The only thing that links obesity to psychopathy would be poor impulse control. However thats not enough to claim someone meets the criteria. The mistake many make is to infer that someone haivng a few traits means a person meets the criteria for the disorder. Thats because most dont know the items that make up the disorder can exist on their own. Whats interesting about this conversation is Joran is basically pointing out to him that he may have some of the traits. What is weird however is him writing some of what Jordan says down as if he is wanting to use this info in a debate.
There is misconception that psychopathy involves impulse. There are very few real world examples that form good case studies that can accurately be used as reference. One trait that does tend to be central to psychopathy is deceit. The term also gets improperly used to describe people that do have impulse control issues that descend into violent rage. Crimes of passion also get lumped into psychopathy.
@@Art-is-craftnone of that is true. Impulsivity is right there in the PCL-R. Deceit isnt. Crimes of passion also is nonsense. Clinical Psychopathy is assessed using the PCL-R, it appears you are unfamiliar with it.
@@harryhill8543
You do not think psychopathy has deceit?
So you think at the worst manifestation’s there is no guarding behaviours. The vast majority of people that are psychopaths all practice deceit at a central level. It is part of their very being and it is very thing that allows them to operate. Other behaviours include lack of empathy.
@@Art-is-craftpsychopathy is what is measured by the PCL-R. That is the accepted clinical model. You are simply using words that you think fits with the description of what you think a psychopath is. It never fails when a psychopathy video appears on youtube that people claiming expertise on the matter pipe up with nonsense opinions which simply flags up to people who actually do the research that they know nothing and are generally informed by crappy fiction. Also "lack of empathy" isnt even a behaviour lol. "The vast majority of people that are psychopaths all practice deceit at a central level", is this copied directly from a bad true crime novel or is it a B movie?
Must be a rare doctorate.

Peterson is absolutely amazing
I gained my degree in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology in 1981. The past century of mental imbalance study categorized societal behavior into three types. I) Normal behavior conducive to the foundations of civilization and its continuance. 2) Behavior defined as a Sociological Pathology, in short Sociopathic behavior. This included oddball behavior that ran outside normal behavior like walking around the park backwards just to do it, basically harmless. Murderers are categorized as sociopaths, as well as homosexuals. All being defined as being destructive to the core foundations of civilization. 3) Behavior defined as being a Psychological Pathology, short term Psychopathic behavior. A behavior that was not just destructive to the core foundations of civilization, but lacking an attachment to reality. Psychopaths demonstrate a need to change identity to escape into a more powerful identity they were not experiencing in real life. It can even be into an identity that is one of victimization, being the gaining of power through being the victim, somehow. Murderers that are psychopathic demonstrate mutilations to gain power over the individual, or from the individual they have killed. It offers a freedom from the societal structure they could not exist in. A freedom to do anything, or be anything, without rules, and ultimately to be free from reality.
Today, as the media has taken the population into the abyss, psychopathic behavior is now the victimized norm. Here is the progression:
After WW2 the media began to promote trans men in the movie 'Some like it Hot-1949. In the 50s the media cabal separated the youth from the adults by giving them their own music called Rock-N-Roll. This music indoctrinated the youth into rebellion. In the 60s the Supreme Court removed prayer from school and began the death spiral of America. Juvenile crime, drug use, pregnancy skyrocketed and in six short years the media brought in the 'hippie' movement with its feminized male persona. In the 70s the media pushed homosexuality with its 'prop' superstars that were promoted to do this very thing. Elton John sang "Love lies bleeding in the sand, I can tell by the things I will do with another man." The Kinks had "I know what I am, and what I am is a man, and so was Lola." Van Morrison sang "Roll me over Romeo, there your go, Lord have mercy.". Today this is still in full push with Luke Brian's song "My baby, HE is in the shotgun seat, them kisses are for me, this life may not be for you, but it is for me." From the 80s on came the push away from reality, past trans, and now into the abyss with the presenting child molesters as simply 'minor attracted persons', and pushing the idea that little boys should be castrated to make them little girls.
This is how the slipping away from a pure cultural heritage can, incrementally, degrade the entire society. How all western societies are breaking apart, and have throughout history. Five empire ages have come and gone: Babylon, Media Persia, Greece, Rome, Neo-Roman empire.
This is how liberalism destroys nations, it allows for the change away from what made that society strong in the first place. Change the outward face of a society and in time you change the inward identity.
