Hollywood FC is the best description of PSG. They got more drama than reality TV.
Edit: All the Bayern comments clearly don't watch the video. I'm just agreeing with the video.
FC Hollywood is already reserved for Bayern.

it’s easy… it’s not a club it’s a brand, they don’t have fans they have customers. idk how people don’t see it yet.

no we have great fans actually bc the club wasnt created with qatar, do some research
@@ant1755 not anymore. lost its prestige when it was bought
Even as a brand they are cheap AF.
@@donaldduck2756 That’s the problem with you idiots. You think owners define a club. There are millions of PSG fans who actually LIVE in Paris and have supported the club for years/decades. They’re not “cUstOmeRs”.
I think Messi arriving to the club really upset the already tense diva-status of Neymar and Mbappé, and also compromised the system and tactics. Imagine having to play the MNM every match they're available, your tactics basically have to revolve around having these 3 players on the pitch. It's enough for Ligue1, but then playing in the UCL with a squad where 3 players don't press nor defend is overkill, there is no other club that does it.
Against Bayern they looked very hindered tactically and physically. Also having these 3 players and their enormous wages compromises the ability to sign better players in other positions, so when looking at PSG's bench and at Bayern's bench, it was clear one was a team built more or less carefully and with a plan for the team and the individuals, while PSG looked just like a rich guy's pet project.
Exactly. ONly club that could have sustained 3 players that don't press was Barcelona in that one season, and only that season. And they have done it by scoring more goals than they conceded, which PSG obv cannot do
Wasn't Neymar the one who begged Messi to join & oversaw the deal? Please he wanted Messi to come badly but Mbappe yea probably felt an ego bruise
Seriously. against Bayern they looked like they have never trained together
Makes you appreciate Luis Enrique more. They way he used MSN. He knew the power of that trio and boldly went against the Barcelona DNA of tiki taka instead being more direct. In the end the fans became disgruntled because of this but still you can't deny he was a winner
@@veszeljko7645 wasnt Suarez a pressing Monster, that compensated for the other two?
I think zidane is the only manager that can get that locker room together. That man commands the respect of any player

They're all on the same side...
Or points deduction
Yeah, but they dont.
Because PSG was one of the few allies of UEFA during Superleague's battle.
Because Bein sports is one of the TV rights owner of the UCL.
And because the UCL would win less money without Mbappe, Messi, etc...

Giving fine for breaking ffp is like punish overspending by spending even more
FC Hollywood used to be the title for FC Bayern in the late 90s when lots of drama was happening with the likes of Klinsmann, Matthäus, Effenberg, coach Trapattoni's outburst at a press conference, and so on :D.
we still call em that on occasion
But it already won champions
fc hollywood was and will always be bayern munich, newer fans dont know that
I look at PSG and I don’t see a football club, I see more of a marketing and profit generating scheme. That’s it really. I’ve never seen a club more devoid of real passion and emotion in my entire life.
They’re operating on huge losses though … 😂😂
They’re literally a more toned down version of the galacticos
It's a flashy line up of glamorous players but no substance all the money in the world and no championships
Man City are getting close. The newer fans who’ve been attracted by recent success are all just so....... plastic.

Appreciate the video was already quite long but in mind definitely more you could've spoken about so much here 😅 I mean the fact that they don't comfortably win ligue 1 every year with 100 points baffles me considering the wage difference between them and the rest of the league.
PSG just can't seem to handle the better opposition in the ucl and probably points to the fact that they basically play on autopilot for the majority of the season.

If that was the case, then City, Bayern wouldn't go far in the CL either since they dominatr their leagues. PSGs biggest issue is having 11 superstars playing with the intention of who can shine the brightest rather than playing like a unit. Having a front line that doesn't press is guaranteed failure.

@@BijoubixLearn to read then. It was just a short parageaph. Why bother commenting anyway? If it's too much for you then don't read it and move on.
I enjoyed this, it was a nice complement to HITC Sevens' video on the club. I'd like to add a couple of little things I've learned about PSG which I think are a little harder to appreciate if you live outside of France. The first is that, at least in the city where I live, there appear to be more PSG fans than fans of the local club. That's quite sad, but also weird, because although it's an immigrant city (both international and from other regions of France) few people I meet are actually from Paris. The second is that there is an almost hysterical obsession with PSG in the media, and even to some degree among the public (notably not Marseille supporters however), to the extent that the PSG in the champions league seems almost indistinguishable from France playing in the World Cup or the Euros. I mean when PSG lose, the supposedly neutral media get as worked up as when France loses - it's kind of bonkers actually, how angry they get. And speaking of media, the final thing on my mind, which I rarely see talked about in France or elsewhere, is the historically tight relationship with the media. I haven't quite worked all that stuff out, but it does appear as though PSG, in a way unlike any other club in France, has been a media project first and foremost long before the Qataris got involved. I love your videos, keep it up.
Wow, never knew all that. Thanks for the insight!
Isn't the whole 'when PSG loses in Europe' thing regarding the media pretty normal, though? Thing is, as far as the Champion's League is concerned, French teams are useless. So it's at least not surprising they want to rally behind the one team that *might* stand a chance. When it comes to European club competitions, you usually put your league opinions to rest and put yourself on the side of your country's club... well, unless it's a club that's really despised by the rest of the league (Leipzig here in Germany being a prominent example). Though in that case, it's usually because there's alternatives (like how Germany has Bayern or Dortmund who *can* go far if they don't hit a bad day), while France... pretty much has no other option than to root for PSG if they want to see any kind of success in the CL. They are just that bad of a league, at least compared to the other four big leagues.
@@segafreak2000 Yeah, maybe! I have a hard time believing that most English fans would get behind Liverpool, or Chelsea or frankly any other club, or Spanish fans behind Real Madrid, but where I come from there is no popular sport with a domestic league feeding into an international one, so maybe it's just me that thinks it's strange. Maybe my issue then is more about how transparently silly the PSG project is as a concept, the whole media project behind it in the past, and that all these folk and media have pinned their hopes on essentially a foreign country - Qatar - to win "France" the champions league, because France can't do it for itself (leaving beside the fact that it's a club competition)? I don't know, but I don't see English media losing their pyjamas when Man City get knocked out. (Personally, I always enjoy this time of year when inevitable waves of tears and rage wash across the media when PSG get eliminated, especially as *this* year will always be different! )
Meanwhile, it's just slightly depressing going to a domestic PSG away game and feeling like the stadium is actually behind PSG, and for sure on the street you see more PSG shirts than the local club here (mind you, you see more of almost every other club, but at least they're not in competition with the local one...). The same thing happens with Marseille games, mind you, but at least you get the impression that the Marseille fans are actually genuine fans, and they make a bit of noise!
By the way, I don't mean to knock PSG fans, the way their club is being mismanaged the fans are surely the biggest losers in all of this.
@@liquensrollant Before the expansion of the CL (i.e. one team per country) it was common for English fans to support their national rivals in Europe. That's long gone, though, you're right - I'd say thanks to a combination of this overfamiliarity and also general societal changes (in part driven by social media and its polarising nature).
@@johnmichel4865 Interesting! I wouldn't have guessed that. I suppose that was also before local teams became international businesses?
Glad you touched on a fact that a lot of people often leave out. The main function of PSG at the moment is to sanitise the image of a regime guilty of numerous human rights violations. That's why they're happy to throw such an obscene amount of money after Mbappe to the detriment of the rest of the squad; the publicity they gain from their main stars far outweighs the benefits of actually winning the Champions League
It's not about sanitisation. It's simply about a display of wealth and power. Ot about being movers and shackers. The gulf states by no means want to seem sanitised or secular. I think that's a big misunderstanding of their motives.
So Madrid's Galacticos project in the 2000s was about image?
yea sure the same human right violations that exist in every country
@@rifway22 Yes, it was, but it was more about making revenue using image rights than creating indirect propaganda to an arabic regime.

Psg won a european cup back in 1996 10 years before the qatari
Learn history
@@hankonokokoro6684 They won what is now the Europa league. They didn't compete with elite european teams in the UCL before they got the money.
The problem with PSG is they are to big to fit in the ligue1. Yes other teams in Ligue1 still cause them troubles here and there, but there are no Barcelona to Real Madrid, it was like EPL with only Man City and there are no Arsenal, Man Utd, Liver, Chelsea, just mid table dark horses and relegation teams. There are no higher standard to strive, once PGS got the oil money, they automatically became the best team in the league. In the end they have to rely on a few C1 matches they could play to test out their meter.
Yes Bayern to the rest of Bundesliga is kinda the similar problem if you only look on their recent dominant years, but there is a very different mentallity in Germany. Bayern choose to be this way and they desparately want to be the only best team in the league despite valiant and very close attempt by kind like Leipzig and Dortmund. And these 2, (or some others in the past) despite still bottlejob, they still have very big chances to win the title. That's why we see Bayern still have to try so hard to protect their position. While looking at ligue1, i see no other team could ever apply any constant pressure on PSG years after years, they always jazzing to the title almost every year.
And of course we have to mention that Bayern spending are no near the level of PSG, and they still archieve the same domestic dominant
La liga is not that better either especially now once the El Clasico was historical with Ronaldo vs messi and even athletico was more threatening now it's meh
@@sarov7658 still, barca has real and real has barca. They are still very competitive at each other and help the other improve.
@@sarov7658 while in ligue1 you can't name any club that can fill in that kind of role. There is no el clasico, no derby Ruhr, no derby manchester, mersyside equivelance in ligue1 that include PSG in it.

The last time PSG was a proper team was when Ancelotti, Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva was still there, after the 3 of them gone, it's the era of Neymar. That's where things go wrong.
Hazard is a genius. After the hardwork in stamford bridge, he took a vacation in real madrid with no 7 jersey, sit on the bench, and literally being handed all trophies to him while maintaining to be the highest paid player in the team. Now that's life
Look at it two ways:
1. PSG the Brand
2. PSG the Brand
PSG have no football philosophy nor did they even try to create one. What a waste! With all that money, you have no innovation, no new ideas, just copying the Madrid playbook. PSG fans should not be mad at the players or coaches, focus on the people behind it, they're messing it up BIG TIME.
PSG is a huge joke. They resemble 2000s Real Madrid - all world-class superstars, but no team chemistry.
And yet then where UCLA runnerz up?
Tht madrid won championship league
As a PSG supporter, I think the best way to summarize it is in two words, "clown fiesta." I'm tired of signing these people who don't give a fuck about the club and don't fight for the badge. How can we be a serious French team with only one French player on the team? Nasser Al-Khelaifi needs to step down and let someone competent run the club. Clearly, Galtier is a fraud too but we have had great managers underperform because the team isn't authentic.
I agree man! Im a parisian too, and i am so done with some of the players in the team. Probably a bit controversial, but i think it is time to get rid of both messi and Neymar. Messi (understandably, he isnt supposed to be here) doesnt want to be here, and i think its time he goes back home. Neymar also needs to go, most expensive signing in history, and he doesnt even care about the club. Hes been good in 1 of 6 seasons hes been here, its time to go! Also don't think this is galtiers fault, we were brilliant before the world cup. It feels like none in the team except for Kylian has any motivation anymore. For years now weve complained on the managers, i think it is time we look at the players for once.
@@thommelom9650 Tuchel made it to the UCL final with this squad(before Messi, Ramos, Hakimi or Donarumma) so you better be kidding if you think it's a manager thing
@The Squid Man … Interesting to hear how a PSG feels about the current regime. I don’t know how old you are but I remember PSG having an excellent team in the mid 90’s; Djorkaeff, Loko, Rai etc. I can recall when my club Celtic played them in the Euro CWC in 95/96, the season PSG won the competition. I actually also travelled the PDP in Paris. That was quite a tight match but you slaughtered us 0-3 in the second match in Glasgow. We were very naive defensively but PSG were lightening quick on the counter. Would you prefer those simpler days again? Decent on the field but much less drama (and possibly also much less controversy) off it?
Another problem is the lack of passion for football by the french public which results in an uncompetitive football league, and a lack of respect for the institutions within it like PSG.
I mean when your average frenchman sees football as a dirty sport of "22 racailles qui courent derrière un ballon" i wouldn't expect anything else.
@@MikoyanGurevichMiG21 exactly, i don't think it's the manager. It's the players
One of the problems with PSG is that no one sees them as a big club NOT even their own players!
When a player plays for Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona, Liverpool etc they know and feel the sense of duty in a big club. Even Chelsea during the Abramovich era had that pressure of winning. But PSG feels only like a ludicrous easy job for footballers to earn, party and chill
The club was only founded in 1970 as a merger of two teams.
PSG fan of 20+ years and a contributor of a large English-speaking PSG podcast here,, I could write an essay on our situation but this guy did a great job. Every football CZcamsr has a take on our club but this guy gave the best unbiased report from a neutral I've seen in a while.
In short, I believe we suffer from the club being run by QSI, where their main goal is to use the club as a sportwashing and marketing tool. Our spending was a bit high comparatively from 2011-13 and actually not bad at all from 2014-20 even with the two biggest transfers ever (and yes I'm aware the artificial revenue inflation helped us), but the wage bill increasing 44% from 2020 to 2022 was a huge problem that I believe put us in the bad spot we are now. It's crazy that while we're located in maybe the biggest talent hotspot in the world (the city of Paris), we have completely ignored that and sold young players to sign the next Icardi or Idrissa Gueye for millions.
In a perfect world QSI learns their mistakes and either becomes a more passive owner or sells the club but we all know that's unrealistic. I believe this season was a step in the right direction (wage bill lowered greatly, deadwood loaned/sold), but we still need to cut costs by a lot next year, and I hope at least one of MNM is let go/sold to shift towards financial stability
I think there will be a change in the future
Especially if Qatar realy buys manchester united
Their approach of investment and their goles for the club will probably have a big change

Ego has always been the demise of PSG and its players. Neymar leaving Barca because he didn't want to be Messi's shadow. Mbappe choosing to stay at PSG because he is getting paid more and because it's a club that will do anything to keep him happy. Even undermine managers and directive/sporting staff (probably). And having a dressing room that thinks too high of itself. Imagine if Messi had taken mbappes attitude with Luis Enriques Barca when he restricted Messi's movements to allocate Neymar and Suarez.
This club, from a sporting point of view, is a true disappointment
The biggest difference between Galacticos and PSG is the era in which they existed. This is an era of collective functionality, high press, building from the back as a team. It's not an era where a super team can be created by stacking up talent, as they did in the Galacticos time. And even then, it worked a lot less than expected. Galacticos era shouldn't be romantized. They failed more often than not. Stil, tactics have advanced too much to build a team on individual talent. Talent needs to click perfectly. Every team needs balance, tactical players.
This is just outstanding work. Well reported, engaging, knowledgeable and fun to watch.

This is very good and interesting. I like your humour too. One thing you didn't seem to consider is that the first half of the season was played before the WC,when they were fresh and full of vim and vinegar. The second half is after the WC where they shot their wad. WC is horrendously intense and it's all concentrated in one month. Even I as a fan haven't got the energy to get excited about the games post-WC. I've shot my wad too. It's interesting that the players who shone at WC, Neymar (injured), Messi, Mbappe, Hakimi haven't been playing that well. They're tired. They're not robots. They should have had a longer rest period. Nowadays they seem to be recovering and their playing shows it. The main pb with PSG is that it's not a team. So they can't really compete with a well regulated team like Real or Bayern. I have to say PSG has the most impatient, bratty, ignorant, stupid, and downright nasty fans. They've managed to make themselves hated all over the world by booing Messi. Made their team the most hated and it's even seeped over to their country, France.

I was waiting for that last 2 minutes.
The then French president Sarkozy asked the Qataris to buy the club and in return convinced Platini to give them his vote to host the last World Cup.
They don’t care about performance. They sign the biggest names to increase the club's profile which helps their foothold in the country and political ties.
Great content, really captured the weird, exasperating essence of that club.
Really enjoyed this video …… you got a new sub today 👍🏾
There is certainly a lot to unpack with this team! Thanks for the video!
Paris is so weird, they should be comfortably winning their league like Bayern would do in Germany, they have talent up and down the field, yet they get smashed about in the Champions League.
They don't play as a team.
You make the greatest football videos. I really appreciate it. This one was amazing as always. What a crazy team😂
PSG is another example that dream teams don't work. Here in the States, when a sports team tries to sign as many high profile players as possible to win a championship, we deem them dream teams, and every single one of them failed to win a title. Why? Because having the best players doesn't equal having the best team. The best teams have good chemistry, strong cohesion, excellent coaches, good leaders, understanding owners. PSG doesn't have any of that. Something else winning teams have is an understanding that nobody is bigger than the club. PSG, seems like every star is bigger than the club.
PSG should stop chasing stars and build the same way a lot of top clubs do. Get a good manager/coach, use your nation's deep wealth of talent to farm young talent, sign a couple stars.
France has too much talent for the biggest French club to struggle and not even really have that many starting French players. Throughout the success of Barcelona the last couple decades, most of their players also were Spanish National team players.
Well oiled machine is a great description, more than Hollywood FC. For one reason or another

Arsene Wenger once said "we don't sign superstars, we make them" and perhaps there's some irony as Arsenal is today owned by Rich American Guy. But anyway the sentiment has lost its meaning on these mega-money clubs of which I am growing so tired and uninterested. I'm not impressed by a club or the team of players purchased with unthinkable amounts of money. It is for real ruining the game as the only way to win or even survive is becoming who has the largest bank account. Leads to all kinds of problems like the EPL manager merry go round (lets see a vid on that)! Well done video, by the way.
As a neutral, I hate oil money clubs.
You can tell PSG's leadership and project has a severe lack of football culture because of one often overlooked detail:
They never pay off referees. Seriously. Nearly all big successful clubs constantly have games and scandals of referees benefitting them (Barça, Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc). When's the last time you heard of that happening with PSG?
they spent to much on buying players they forgot to pay the ref

The team just hasnt been gelling as of late, and its becoming a bit of a reoccurring theme for the club since the takeover
I get comparing them to RM and all, but at least RM was still considered the greatest club of all time before the Galacticos era.
Also kind of helps when you are General Franco's favourite club for nearly 50 years!
@@mjc8281 what??
@@lazyartiste_2357 The Franco’s regime, although primarily inward-looking, was hugely concerned with the way it was perceived by the rest of Europe, and Real Madrid were the perfect PR tool, projecting an idea of a wealthy, happy and united Spain that was at odds with the reality.
@@mjc8281 thanks! 👍
Your final was very spot on. Even more than Man City, PSG was nothing. As fans we look at it as a failure, but Hollywood FC is a success in terms of the marketing. What was Qutar known for besides US Military bases and NG. Now it's known the world over.
"PSG was nothing"

@@Yoshikage-Bowieyou shut his mouth perfectly, good job 🤝
Successful clubs sign players because they fit into the team's philosophy and style of play. PSG signs players as if they are collecting rare collectables, then design their philosophy and style around these players. It will never work because it just highlights that the club doesn't even have a basic philosophy or a stable foundation, but their philosophy now is to just throw money at a broken system and hope that it will bring them success.
That's what separates Manchester City from PSG. City learned this quickly and they haven't really been signing any big names especially since Pep's arrival with very few exceptions in Haaland and Grealish (Grealish wasn't even a huge name tbh, he only made headlines because of the huge price tag rather than for his ability as a footballer at the time). Most players on the City squad over the past years became famous only after arriving at City. Gundogan, Bernado, Dias, Rodri, and EVEN KDB all weren't huge players until they joined City and very few English fans even knew who they were before.
PSG needs to get rid of all their Hollywood stars and build from the ground up with a solid and stable philosophy. Otherwise they will never win anything meaningful.
But I hope that will never happen because I simply love watching PSG crash and burn year after year. It never gets old.
Excellent video.
PSG is like Jumanji.
Marquinhos barely making liveable wage.I guess Sarcasm reigns supreme, RIGHT.
world cup got me paying attention to soccer and this channel been an invaluable resource for educating myself on PL and world soccer history thank you
Use "soccer" when speaking in the u.s or u.s based channels. Here is 'football'
Just wanna say if you want more stuff like this there's a ton of great channels on yt like maqwell and vizeh there's also FNG for more like banter I guess
What a video brothers! Amazing as always
FC Hollywood is the nickname of FC Bayern in Germany

Very good.
Honestly you take too long to release videos yet your content is always so top notch. Don't keep us waiting that long man
'The Incredible Fella' & 'Regular Raccoon' - that's hysterical! LOL! I've never seen that before. Sorry for the sidenote...
as a massive galtier fan he should leave the club this summer cause it's tanking all his stock. but the biggest problems at psg is that until now they never really cared about the academy post qsi considering they could have had konate, coman, nkunku, maignan, diaby as either starters or some of the best depth possible , they had a terrible sporting director before campos which lead to poor squad building, the obscene wages they give to players makes it impossible to sell them as well and don't really have much competition except when monaco and lille won the league . even the german league which is seen as the bayernliga still at least makes it competitive enough so that bayern can't slack at all
after the news that's come out today about galtier yeah ban that racist and xenephobe for life from football

Players can not run a club. You need a coach with authority.
