- On episode 154 of Finnegan's Garage, Mike Finnegan's friends, David Newbern and Matt Knabb venture to Big Spring, Texas, to pick up a neglected 1957 Chevy 150, which the guys had spotted a few months earlier during a road trip from Arizona to Georgia. The car was had been sitting under a shed since the mid-1990s because the owner had used it as a parts car for another restoration project. The tires were flat, the windows were busted out but there wasn't a lot of rust in the body so Newbern fell in love and used a come-a-long strap to drag the carcass up onto an open trailer and then tow it 14 hours home to Georgia. In a future episode of Finnegan's Garage we'll get it running and of course do burnouts in this awesome machine. Thanks for watching!

Start of this video is like when TV shows replace one of the main actors with out you noticing 😄
it Darrien all over again!
Only we other lunatics completely understand stopping in the middle of the evening to bolt parts on to look more complete for when we pull it into the driveway at home. I would totally do the same thing!
You know what would make an excellent video explaining? How to properly seal the paintwork whilst maintaining the patina. Linseed, Wax, whichever method. I feel this is the right channel for it =)
Saving a 57 chevy instantly earns you a spot in heaven
It would be awesome if They road tripped the car back to Texas to the place they bought it from and took the previous owner for a ride in it.
I really hope they do that!! Love that idea!!
That’s the plan
yea great idea. and you know he would leave there with more parts
Or truck it to Detroit and look for the guy that made it and give them a ride.
@@12VoltDave Doing pretty much the same thing with my '68 Cougar but I'm putting the project on hold until Fall because I can't get her into the garage and I'm not working in 115 degree heat.
Dammit!! I wanted to see all that work. Save the patina, it’s priceless. Can’t wait to see it rolling down the road!!
Big Spring Texas! Drive through there regularly. I’d noticed the 57 missing!
Yeah thought that place looked familiar the other day moving a rig.
Least ya know she went to a good home!
Thanks for the follow up video! I was so amped for you when you and Finn found that thing!! I had never thought I’d want to road trip around the country with my truck and and empty trailer, but now I do!! Congrats again Newburn, can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Newbern, just give that body a good rub down with some linseed oil, it will protect it from rust, and will make the colors that are there really stand out.
Cheap can of furniture polish and a dirty rag is the best he’s gonna give ya 😂
@@picklefart your prolly not wrong lol
If you're talking about the body of the car, you should really specify that.
@@jeffh6516 LOL good point.....
try flood penetrol. I find it works better than linseed oil
That would of made a great series, would love to see that build. A semi budget friendly build.
Flying Sparks is always coming through for everyone in the RK family. Class act. Can't wait to see that beauty on the road Newbern.
The main attraction of this channel for me is the cars and trucks! I'm not a boat guy. Please update us on the 1967 C10, the '61 Cadillac, Blasphemi, and this cool '57! Thanks, these are Great!
I actually appreciate an update episode like this!
Need more up date than that ! That was a teaser lol
More '57 content please guys!!
You should do more of these. You're a good presenter.
This is actually really cool. Newbern is working at a U-Haul when Mike hired him and now he's building dream cars and sharing them on CZcams.
Always fun to see the people from Flying Sparks Garage.
My brother had one of the nicest back in the 60's. Good memories of it and him.
I love it when a plan comes together 😁
My first thought after reading the title was "geez, another one?" Then I realized it was the one they bought a couple months ago
A perfect little video. Kinda like getting an ice cream Sundae you didn't expect on a summer evening.
Just awesome. Your a lucky man. In 1978 a neighbor had several for sale. The most he wanted was 300 for a 57 nomad. I bought a 56 2 door hardtop for 75. No engine or Trans. 2 months later, my dad had it hauled off for scrap.
Newbern Garage, like to see more of the spin-off :) anyone outside of the American continent will lacking Roadkill/Motortrend content from August so love to see more like this.
Newburn is ready for his own channel 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome score brother... I was so excited to see your happiness in the first video. Glad you updated us on the progress! Looking forward to more updates.❤👍
That's incredible the hood still has the original bullets on it. That's one of those things damn near every steals off the hoods if they find em anywhere
Dude just caught last night's ROADKILL episode 🤣🤣 you guys strapped that Generator to the trunk of the Tbird 😳classic 🤣
Smart man! Making it look nicer before the wife sees it aha
I've made em look worst and say I didn't pay as much as I did..........just wrong.
But will the Wife make herself look nicer before she sees Him?
Or is it Curlers, no Makeup, a House Coat and Slippers?
Yep.... It definitely helps unless she's very understanding, or she TRUSTS you
That was the best find ever, when you two spotted that car from the frontage road, that shop owner was a real hot rodder and wanted you to put that back together, what a parts pick heaven!
Whoa,and Elen was there,as well!!!
Cool, please, keep us in loop !!
Wow. That felt like when that girl on the bus next to me put her hand on my leg then got off at the next stop.
Right?
You shoulda got off with her. There's always another bus.
Good luck on the build, post a lot so we can see the progress!
I like it, get all the exterior chrome/stainless all polished up and nice windows and interior but leave the body and paint as is. Should be a great cruiser.
True enthusiasts….. their passion shines through.
I was kinda expecting you to haul the chassis out there and do a chassis swap in a parts store parking lot and then drive it home... all with a 27 hour "lose the shop" deadline. Then I remembered this is real life captured and shown on CZcams, not made for drama fake TV. Thank goodness!!
Sick. Love that patina Newbern, can’t wait to see you make it a monster racer with sick patina
lol @ ppl that say patina
Based on the picture and title I had assumed this was a VGG video...what a surprise when Dave appeared!
Good stuff gents! Looking forward to seeing more.
Support 🇺🇲
Not dragging your feet, good for you, get it done, can't wait to see it driving again.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm about all boated out for now.
I'd like to see David working on that '57!
Definitely not just you. Get back to the cars lol.
I remember when you happened upon it, that was a cool video. The whole "Patina" thing is getting old though, give this car some grace along with the love.
I can’t wait to see what it looks like on the road again! Gonna be so sweet!!! Good luck buddy
Great news. New home, new passion is fired up. We can't wait to see you get this body and chassis married and get it moving on the roads again. It's going to be epic and I'm excited for this.
Looking good. Please do a vid on how you seal up the exterior...prep, materials, etc. Thanks!
Congrats on your 57 man, that patina is wild, I can't wait to see more on that beast
They are definitely real car guys to stop and start fixing up the car before they even get it home. That sounds like some shit I would do, got to love it!
All I ask is that you take us with you along this fantastic voyage.
Hell yeah! Keep us posted on this build. It’s gonna be BAD ASS!
We all want to see more of this 57 on Finnegan’s garage
Can't wait to see the finished product 💪🙂👍
Awesome. Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to more posts of your 57
This was a tease!!!!! I wannna see it !! Lol I’m glad you got the car home and have been wrenching though Dave! Can’t wait to see it all done
Please do a full build series on these. 👍
Paint it!! The exterior deserves to be actually painted getting equal attention as its other components received!!
Not cleared, not pledge, not WD-40, not dipped in oil from Home Depot or Walmart like a rusty old pair of fine China slip joint pliers.
Can't wait to see more of it.
It's a 210 BTW. 210's and Bel Air look similar but the Bel Air has some more upscale bits like Bel Air script, gold trim on the fender louvers and V badges, etc. The 150 has fin trim that looks more like the 55's trim.
Look at the vin tag. If it starts with a "V" it was a factory V8 car. A or VA is a 150, B or VB is a 210 and C or VC is a Bel Air. 57 210 Hardtops are pretty rare actually...
Awesome 57 Chevy, I'm restoring a 58 Impala on my channel. once that's done I've got a 57 Belair 2door post car can't wait to start that project.
Dude it looks waaaay better with the hood on it. Great find
Can't wait to check out this build!
I usually hate music in videos like this, but I'm giving you big props for the tunes in this video. Awesome stuff. Please tell me where I can listen to more.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who is wondering about all the project cars, and truck, we see in the background. And if there will be any updates on them.
Look forward to the '57 too.
There are one more set of body mounts near the rear wheels on a hdtp car that a post doesn’t have i believe. I love it!
I am pleased that you came to visit Texas. 😎
Super happy to see some content on this can’t wait for more
Cool 😎👍. Can’t wait to see it on the road.
man, it could have been the radest roadkill, car looks just perfect with the patina
Good idea, make it look good before getting home. You motivated me to work on my 55 two door wagon.
Love it! Can`t wait to see and hear it! Yea the 409 would have been Cool! True Hot Rod from the day!
That sounds awesome!! Please keep us updated!
Hell Yeah!!! I want to see some pictures of the process and the finished product!
There was not a train but I'm sure at the beginning. That was a train bridge so we are calling this episode Plans Trains & Automobiles 👍 Good show Sir
I've been wondering what was the scoop on getting this car picked up and back on the road. Guess it'll be another 3 or 4 months before you guys give us another update.
I also noticed that the Cadillac was looking pretty damn good.
Hell yeah I’ve been waiting on this episode on the 57 Chevy‼️😊🤙🤙🤙
Uh, Newborn! Ok I can watch a little teaser of the 57 and you picking it up.
But you are planning to show video of building this 57 right? Cause that's what we are going to be asking for, and expecting to see.
@4:03,, ",, complete with tha bullets." Did ya'll notice how carefully he set the hood against tha wall? YES,, this 'ol '57 has a new owner WHO CARES. Cool stuff rite there Newbern.
Was going to comment on that too, no one has cared for that hood for 50 + years, until now
Can’t wait to see it back on the road!
Patina for the win!!! Let that car keep telling its story.
Can't wait to see it mobile again!
These projects are the best
That body, you can’t put that patina, looks awesome as hell!!!!!!!
You guys never disappoint!
thanks for the update I wondered where you were with this car
One of the best and most popular hot rods ever! Good choice
Dave’s tri 5 needs a hitch welded on to help tow his jet boat. Keep the patina & just get the thing on the road. Piece the interior together as you can.
Very nice, thanks for the update.
Some dork here has a 57 in similar shape, they are only asking 12k for it. You guys rock, keep on.
I can't wait to see progress on the 57
Awesome badass ride
Thats awesome David can't wait to see more of it
SHOW US!!! lol... Thanks for the update sir.
Consummate cool.........nice.
Be well and stay safe.
Getting Emily & Arron involved was a genius move...
That's bad ass. Thanks for the update. I like a 12v Dave video popping in now and then.
So cool of Finnegan to pass the channel to 12 Volt dave.
More david please love this guy he is the best and does the best trailer burnouts ever just don't do more then a few or you will end up like dave's Nova
Can't wait to see more progress on this car. 👍
Epic sleeper!
Great Update
Can’t wait to see the finished car.
I agree!!
Great content thanks for sharing
Looking forward to seeing it running and on the road
