- What Happened to the Original Guardians of the Galaxy? The 1969 Guardians of the Galaxy, a lot of people don't even know this group of misfits even existed, but the original Guardians of the Galaxy existed LONG before the Guardians we know and love of today.

At the end of issue 62, they were left crashed on a planet, and still are there to this day.Shame they never seen 100 issues.
This was the Guardians of the Galaxy that I knew before the movies came out and with the exception of Gamora, had never heard of any of the ones in the current Guardians. It made for a bit of a strange time.
I love the original way better then the Modern Guardians of the Galaxy

Seriously? Then the present movies series was NOTHING like the original comics. My dad was alive back then, and if he was invested in comics he would have been ticked off by what they did.

I don't fully get why marvel finished the GOTG series 1 the way it did. Didn't make sense.

Timeline is a bit wonky here. The original Guardians were Vance Astro, Charlie 27, Martinex, and Yondu, fighting the Badoon, in the 31st Century, in Marvel Super-Heroes #18. The fight with the Badoon would be picked up in Marvel Two-in-One, where they meet Captain America (Vance Astro's hero) and The Thing. It next moved into the Defenders, then Marvel Presents. Starhawk first appeared with the team in the Defenders stories. Nikki joins the team, later, in the Marvel Presents run. That carried over into a Thor Annual, then into the Avengers, for the Korvac Saga. They are wrapped up in the pages of Marvel Two-in-One, then mostly lie dormant until the 90s series, from Jim Valentino.
I love your channel just discovered it. I love the 90s run of the GofG especially when the beyonder and protege are battling and the Living Tribunal, a Celestial, Eternity and I believe the Hawk god? show up to judge these two hyper powerful beings. Marvel Cosmic is where it is at.

Thank you so much for this video Troy. I used to really love the original Guardians of the Galaxy. I've always been a team book guy and the Guardians were as exciting to me as JLA and X Men.
