"DC took a huge risk with suicide squad.." nope. it was safe as it gets. turn so called villains into likeable heroes, take big name actor like Will Smith, Leto, Viola Davis and had high profile characters like Joker and Batman all in the marketing. and it was a rushed movie that got chopped up and nothing about it was done too well. also, it had zero impact on the overarching story in the DCEU. wouldn't a story about the government sending them to steal Superman's body have fit nicely into place after he died in BvS? hmm... make too much sense for WB?

Suicide Squad should have been similar to the animated film Assault on Arkham. but they just had to rely on the popularity of Harley and Joker. it wasn't a risk, it was a cash grab. Ayer said he was trying to make a dirty dozen with super villains, this movie wasn't that. as for the next Suicide Squad movie, which imo they do not need one, they're talking about Black Adam being in it. another god who's powers a magic, lol. it was bad enough to have these street level criminals fighting the Enchantress, now Black Adam? WB don't have a clue.
BvS had a higher Thursday preview box office than Black Panther and both Avengers films. the movie was so bad that people seeing it killed it. it failed to have a bigger opening weekend because bad word of mouth, and it had a historically steep second week drop off. WB just doesn't know or care what they're doing. they also have no confidence in their product.
PureBlackFire Suicide Squad was complete garbage. I would rather watch the Batman Assault on Arkhsm animated Suicide Squad movie. Batman V Superman was a mess. Doomsday looked like crap and Jesse as Lex Luthor was terrible and whiny. He is the worse Luthor ever. The fight between Batman and Superman is not done very well and is too short. Wonder Woman is cool to see but is underdeveloped. I hated seeing Jimmy Olsen and Mercy die in the film since I like the characters. I feel you can do more with them. Amy Adams is not good as Lois Lane. She and Henry have no chemistry. It us Wierd to see Lois with red hair since Amy looks nothing like Lois in the comics. She looks lore like Lana Lang than Lois Lane. Also Snyder does not let her act to her full potential. It is not a good film.
John Smith i agree with everything you said 100%. all similar issues I have with the DCEU. and yes, Amy Adams is horribly cast and Lois is in too much of the Snyder films. no idea why he's in love with this character or this actress so much. she is in places she simply don't belong and isn't needed.

The reason why Marvel has been so successful is because they have built their universe sure Marvel has had a few meh movies here and there but they haven’t rushed unlike the DCEU has because they got jealous of the money Avengers made so they rushed to get to Justice League sure I like MoS and WW which in my opinion are the best in the DCEU it’s still no excuse to rush just to catch up to Marvel.

John Quinn DC characters deserve better than the cinematic universe they have. Compare it to the animated Universe that Bruce Timm made. Compare the Justice League movie to the Crisis on Earth X saga on the CW. The Animated films are better and DC characters were done better on the CW DC shows.
That has nothing to do with playing "catch up" to disney and "rushing" the universe. They're just not consistent and the execs have no concrete plans for its DCEU. Marvel made the same exact numbers of movies as DC did before releasing Avengers. Iron man, Iron man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers. MoS, BvS, SS, WW, Justice League. At the end of the day, WB made horrible executive choice, building its universe on divisive movies with a director like Znyder who critics HATE and still went with him. WB created a universe that strayed away from the public perception of the characters. The public wants the Chris Reeve superman, saving the day, smiling for the camera, and preserving the American way. They want batman who'd never kill, and they have no idea who the fuck suicide squad members are... Most of the movie goers are not comic book purists, they just want to see a fun action comedy with superheroes as main characters, they don't want to watch a "real" gritty and dark comic book movies. WB made poor choice and paid the price.

Marvel is better simply because the actual guy who wrote the comics (Stan Lee) is involved in making the movies as well. He pays attention to detail and is really passionate about the product. DC doesn't have that factor.
While Stan Lee does make cameo appearances in each film, he really has no role in writing, or scripting.

Stan Lee is executive producer on all the movies, just check the credits but the guy who coordinate everything is really Kevin Feige.
The DCEU doesn't have anybody like him, they rely on people who sure can be good when it come to visual, but plain suck when it come to writing a solid script, not to mention the difference between the castings; MCU got the best actors, they can not only act, but also can improvise, giving their character a natural feeling that is needed for this kind of movies, when the DCEU got grade B actors for the main roles, those people either can't act at all, or overact the most cringiest ways possible, their only good actors were Laurence fishburne playing Perry White and Jeremy Irons playing Alfred, just lame...

as a reader of comics for 42 years, Marvel I've read since I was 6 years old, and enjoyed a lot of fun... but when I turned 15, my world changed when i started reading Detective Comics, more for mature readers, it opened me up to another world as I started looking for more darker gritty stories. I also took up Manga reading too, and dropped a lot of Marvel stuff. Brian Bendis brought me back to Marvel after my 10 years of Image comics. but for me DC have the best stories, Rebirth right now has been killing it, and while I love Image, Marvel and DC, for me DC comes out tops.
apollian that’s the thing DC has better source material then marvel yet they can’t replicate that on the big screen if they could dceu would be better than MCU imo
maybe so, but they are showing it on our TV screens and in the animated movies... DC right now are dominating Marvel in many industries, COMICS, ANIMATION, VIDEO GAMES and TV NETWORKS.... the only thing Marvel comes out on top is with the MOVIES AND TOY SALES. so when people talk about how Marvel is leading the pack, they simply don't understand how big the game is. and are only looking at it form a narrow perspective... DC's TV goes right into Outcast, Preacher, Lucifer and iZombie, four shows that many don't even know are DC properties. to go along with The Flash, Arrow, Legends, Supergirl and Gotham........ and later coming soon we have Krypton, Titans, The Watchman HBO, Scalped, and Metropolis which will be Gotham's sister show.......... that's 14 FREAKING TOP QUALITY SHOWS!

I liked Justice League but it had a lot of issues with the story , special effects so on and Batman Vs Superman was so uneventful since any comic book guy knows Superman has never beaten Batman .The casting is fine except Lex Luthor wrong guy to play rich genius . DC needs better story telling and better writing also you can't have a directors dropping left and right . Directors have left the MCU just not after shooting half the movie . The DCU timeline also sucks Aquaman should have come out before JL and now we get Flashpoint TERRIBLE planning or direction. I can't wait for the next Wonderwoman but will not drop $20 to see anything else from the DCU unless the trailers and previews are good !

for me personally the only difference that exist in MCU and DCEU is .. in MCU director can do anything about his movie. and DCEU the WB executives are there with a big knife to cut almost 50% of their movie. And they sell their movie like mini transactions and DLC. half in theatres and other half in extended Bluray and DVDs
because if someone say. Marvel is successful because it takes time and tries to set up each character before and then make a team up movie. Then just look at Black Panther. It is only marvel character that followed the rule of DCEU. 1st introduced the character in team up movies and then make a separate world for it to explore.. and look Black Panther got millions. Similar to WonderWoman success.
So there nothing wrong in MCU setting up character before team up movies. And DCEU introducing team up characters and then exploring their solo movies.
So DCEU's only problem is that it has been trapped by greedy executives who have nothing to do with passion of movie making. They only know how to cash cow from their franchise and they why people are fed up with DCEU.
UncleFriis: well hiring a director having different take of a characters is a good thing... You get to see more creativity. you get to see a different arc about the character. The good thing is it redefines a character. And creates a number of possibilities for that character to grow and become the version what people are familiar with. Thus it's about exploring the character. Exploring its sentiments and emotions in different situations. It gives a sense of humanity to that character.
for example look at MCU thor Rangnarok .. Look how it changed the complete personality of Thor in that movie. The makers risked in erasing every past related to Thor franchise and made him a more of fun, duffy and comedy character, obviously without MCU's executive interference. And look how the movie ended up. It was a hit. So people will always like different interpretation of characters. but in order to achieve that u need a consistent flow in the movie to make sense...
that's why i don't consider that as DC problem. if a Viewer is entirely dissing out a character's interpretation because it isn't familiar with the interpretation he knows, then that's his personal problem. It's not a problem with the movie at all or the franchise at all.

For example just like you mentioned Zack Snyder and his take on superman... To be honestly for me subjectively Zack Snyder's Superman felt more like the superman we all can believe upon... Because Zack Snyder didn't forced us on watching superman doing his stuffs. Instead Zack's focus on his humanly character CLARK KENT. which most audience doesn't even care about that his human persona still exists.. That's why The new superman felt fresh take on his personality... Remember the fact the superman's comics and involvement in cartoon series were on decline since 2000 as the character became to monotonous. while other DC characters like Batman, Green Lantern, Shazam were on rise. the symbolism of superman was slowing becoming a kind of primary helping character in the team. Zack's Man of Steel brought superman back into mainstream .. whether the movie was critics loved or not. The movie as well as the superman is still being discussed. And that's a good thing because. It shows people now have redefined their love of their beloved hero. And that why when u see superman being in helpless situation .. you feel for him. you r mad as well as u r sad for him.
So for me .. personally that's how you bring out a character from a depth to being loved by everyone. So that is what Zack did it perfectly. in order to being loved and respected by everyone you need a reason for that. No one is directly going to love superman because he is superman. So Zack atleast made us feel about the character that superman could be a genuine person like all of us with having emotional vulnerabilities..
and btw Look at JL.. and how it bombed in Box Office. this is all when Studio tried to make superman just like the superman in cartoons. Over charismatic, optimistic and monotonous character.
and btw i m confused by your statement about Zack hating superman ?? where did u get from. if u go and look his twitter and vero account you will see that Zack is diehard fan of Superman.
UncleFriis: if DC's brand was damaged... then JL wouldn't have earned 580 million only from international market even though domestically it failed. .. i hate to tell it to you .. business numbers and market doesn't go by those kind of logic.. especially in movies. if a studio is risking investing 300 millions to fuck a up movie with reshoots. If DC's brand was already damaged .. then JL trailers won't have been 3rd most anticipated movie trailers of 2017. if DC's brand was already being damaged.. JL won't have earned 40.1 million on the 1st day itself as domestic box office. and 186.14 million in 1st week. which was higher than WW's 1st week collection. People should have avoided watching the movie because its DC.
but let me tell what happens in real world. In real world there are normal people who are not movie enthusiastic and nerds like us. they comprises of 60-70% of movie views. These people don't care about which brand or which director . These people go to watch movies on weekends only to spend of leisure time and entertainment. So everyone was still going to watch JL.
2nd JL failed mainly because of production controversy. when reports and reviews came out that half of the movie have been cut out. That creates a bad PR. Then people won't go and pay to watch a half baked movie. That's is the reason why JL 2nd week box office income dropped to a record of 75%. and hit more worst in 3rd week with 53%. i acknowledge that there are people who must have got fed up with DC so they skipped it. but those number are not even 1% of the total movie goers..
so movie earning process is very different and complicated. it has nothing to do only with Brands and studios. people perceptive and marketing of the movie matters in earning money.
another example: look at Blade Runner 2049.: Its a great movie ... praised by all and critics and even got awards.. But it failed to earn the money in box office.
Now finally, Its okay... you hate Zack Snyder's Vision i got it.. that's all subjective man. you can have your version interpretation of the story. I had an opened mind and i accepted a character arc. And that's how i judge a story. I judge a story by what it is given to me. and check if the characters and plots actually fits that particular story or not. If it does.. then its great. movie did fine. I don't go to watch a movie and shut my mind by preemptive interpreting that the characters should do this and should that. Then it's kind of you are predicting a movie. But since the events are not happening unlike u predicted , so you mad about it that this movie doesn't give me my interpretation of superman. To be honest .. that's not how movie stories and concept works. And with all those issue u said. Those are not issues actually .. its you be hating a movie subjectively based on your interpretation :) There are so many stuffs in about these movies where u can find answers to your question. that explains why there was reason to do that.?? if you r not willing to accept those. then its neither your fault .. nor movie's fault . It's just your subjective choice of understanding a movie.

JL lost its audience because of bad press after the 1st day. That's why I gave u the example of importance of trailers and promotions. This is a movie business man. Not a fan war.
I think because....DC is pure disturbing, heartbreaking and depression. Marvel movies make their movies fun for the whole family. I admit,I do like the DC movies but the MCU is just more light-hearted. And if DC fanboys like D.C comics because of its dark elements...that is like saying Saving Private Ryan is better than Toy Story because it is R-rated, or Call of duty:Black Ops 2 is better than Overwatch just because BO2 is M-rated. And hey! Marvel can go dark too. Infinity War and Captain America:Civil war are the darkest MCU movies. Civil War because we saw the separation of the Avengers, while Infinity War we saw the deaths of....I'm not gonna say anything. Plus, The X-Men movies are dark too. Especially the standalone Wolverine ones. Logan was sad and disturbing. Also, Sam Rami's Spider Man series starring Tobey Marguero was really sad,especially the ending of Spider Man 3. And TASM and sequel were both dark.
And last but not least....Venom,with Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, will be bloody and have Carnage, the most violent Marvel character. It will be r rated. and Deadpool 1 and 2. See? Marvel can make R rated movies. Blade series too. DC is dark and can't even make an R rated movie.
Because Civil War lined up with the comic... or Ragnarok for that matter... just admit that if DC put out even a pretty good film a lot of you would still hate on it because it's "the thing" to do. Proof of that: the people who love to say Wonder Woman was overrated.

Iron man cracks rape jokes in the MCU and they'll ignore.
Stop making Batman movies and start a legit Batman streaming series. Team up with Netflix, who is losing Marvel. Use their resources to develop a great story with the budget to pull it off. 13 episodes per season. Batman, in my opinion, is more interesting when he is fighting his own rogues gallery, not Darkseid or interplanetary threats. A Daredevil-style Batman series? I mean...come on. Then, you have plenty of time to develop him as a character and explore his villains and city. Then, to top it all off, do what Marvel has been reluctant to do, let your small-screen star participate in the team up movie. Establish the other god-like characters in their own films, Batman on his own show, then combine them in a Justice League movie that actually works because the audience understands the characters and the film can instead focus on plot and event-film level delivery ala The Avengers.
Marvel just does it better and DC & WB are just playing catch-up. DC & WB would’ve not been feeling if they weren’t trying to if they try to copy a franchise formula after a movie that had no build up to any other character other than superman. And then kill them off in his second movie and put Batman and put Wonder Women in it. That just proves for fact that they are just jumping on the Marvel train just compete with Marvel but they will never will if they keep rushing shit that doesn’t make any sense. Dude, I know you want to justify why WB has destroyed the DC. DC can not be fixed. It has to be destroyed and then sold to a studio that cares about its product. This not about comic books. It is about flim and how WB has let a lousy flim maker (Zach Snyder) drive theses projects. Notice how the best DC film was made by a flim maker who CARED about the story. Watch the making of Wonder Woman and see Patty Smith interact and care about what she is making. Until that happens, then the DECU is garbage.
Wil Rodriguez err Snyder is credited as a writer for ww. Plus his movies mos and bvs are the only dceu films in the top 50 most sold blue rays. Just because critics didn't like his movies doesn't mean he didn't have a solid fan base. I mean half the marvel movies aren't even on that list.
