    Hate to say it,,,, but this looks like something I'd do.. I put a brake pad on the back disk of my Ram 2500 with the metal side towards the rotor a couple weeks ago. Went out to bed them in.. Jolly good show, plus $$$. You explain shit very well. I'm 63 years old and I don't think I have ever bled air off a radiator..I guess I always thought I was overly smart about this. Turns out; not so much. I wish your shop was in Eastern Oregon. I'm getting to old to screw rigs up myself anymore. Need to finally let somebody work on them that knows what the hell they're doing for a change.

      April Johnson Well I’m in Missouri near St. Louis. The cooling system may not have been properly bled after it was opened if it’s just overheating now.

    So I hv a 2016 Dodge Ram bought it new. Never have I had any problems. I get it serviced. Take good care of it! The heater started acting up and stopped working about a month ago but then it started working again so I figured maybe nothing was wrong. Soo then a few days ago heater completely stopped working entirely and only cold air comes out! Cold air when it once was very warm and hot with heater. And my car randomly started making a small noise when driving that it never did before... it also felt like the car was not shifting gears almost like it was too accelerated when its on! It never did that before. My truck feels different. I’m not sure if it’s a water pipe or something else. I never get the engine light...Tonight the temperature (red) thermostat lit up red! And I looked and it was on max like the truck was overheating! Any thoughts on what this might be? This might be totally unrelated but someone was putting sugar in gas tanks around my neighborhood could this symptoms? I know nothing about mechanics and don’t want to be taken... thanks

      The first thing you can check is the coolant level. There will be an easily accessible and labeled reservoir under the hood. Owners manual will point you in the right direction for exact location. The heater works in part by cycling hot antifreeze (coolant) through a heater core inside the dash. If heats not working, and now engine is overheating, the coolant is almost certainly low. You probably have a leak somewhere in the cooling system that needs to be addressed ASAP. Serious damage to your engine can occur if you continue to get it too hot. I recommend adding coolant and limping it to a shop before it gets worse.

    Im having a problem with over heating too. Changed clutch fan, water pump and thermostat. Drive it for 10-15 minutes and the dash thermo gauge starts climbing to almost 260. I temped the thermostat housing with an infrared thermometer and it temped at 210. The upper hose is temping at 195°-200°. Lower water house is at about 165°. Any suggestions? Radiator maybe?

    • @skampsautomotive8560
      @skampsautomotive8560  Před 2 lety

      Getting hot while you aren’t moving is a pretty good sign the cooling fan is not working. A 2013 should have an electric fan located right behind the radiator. Start there.

    What if you run 50/50 coolant, Should you use coolant instead of water? Thanx in advance.

    • @c50ge
      @c50ge Před rokem +1

      50/50 mix is highway robbery. What you are buying is 1/2 gallon of antifreeze and 1/2 gallon of water..compare the cost of the water they are selling you.on the back of the antifreeze bottle should be a chart showing the percentage of antifreeze and water and give you the protection you will have at the different ratios. Running straight antifreeze is not good and running straight water is not good.
      Buy 100% antifreeze and mix it yourself.. you can use a measuring cup, a quart jar, a glass, anything that holds water. A 50/50 mix is the same as 1 to 1 .
      1 cup of water and 1 cup of antifreeze achieves your 50/50 mix.
      Full strength antifreeze is $15.19 and 50/50 mix is $11.99 the only thing extra you get is a plastic jug.

      @@c50ge Ha, never thought of that, makes sense. What about using HARD water? My water is really bad, if it was any harder it'd knock you out when showering. A ton of minerals and such, I feel I would be damaging the cooling system or flushing twice as much.

      @@cornfusedatbest3980 if you have a dehumidifier you can use the water from it or guy a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store for $1.34 also use distilled water for your car batteries.
