Welcome back Stephen. Us old guys tend to get sick from time to time. After you pass sixty mother nature doubles up her efforts to kill you. Nice repair. I have some sight mounts that kept coming loose and I put some Loc-tite on them and they will never come apart again. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
You can say that again. When I went in for a CAT scan they picked up a few other issues requiring another CAT scan and 2 MRI's. Ther is no end to this stuff. So after 2 stays in the Hospital this Spring I am ready to get back to the grind. I feel like the replacement bolt that I used in the mount will hold better than the original. Dear Steve, it is great to hear your health is better.
Looking forward to seeing more contact. Welcome back my friend.
It is tough getting started once you stop doing the videos. I have been back in the shop for a few months and have most everything caught up. Been watching the saga of your SB mill. Nor t sure what to say about it. Wish I could see it up close. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
A great”Hey Man” job….wishing you the best in health and life….
Back in good shape now. I will go into more detail on my next video. Thank you for stopping and commenting.
Happy to see you back Steve. It seems many of the senior guys have been having health problems. I'm an older guy, same for me. I have removed hoards of broken bolts and bought left hand twist drill bits to drill in reverse rotation just to back out broken bolts. They work great if the thread is half good condition. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I use left have drills when they are needed. In this case the screw could come out in either direction and since my mill does not run in reverse at this time right hand it was. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Nice to see you back Steve. Good job saving the piece.
You win one once in awhile. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ah, Steven is posting again :) And this fix went well from the very first time.
You have to win one once in a while. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Hi Steve, great to see you back you have been missed terribly, stay well, Regards ,Mike
Thank you, it is good to be back. I will share in a little more detail in my next edition of Shark Bits which is in production now. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Steve,
For future reference, 6-40 screws are common gunsmithing screws. Any reputable gunsmithing supplier should be able to supply them in a myriad of lengths and head shapes, or contact a local gunsmith and he probably has them. The unthreaded mid length on that screw is there as to NOT contact the slot across the Picatinny rail and cause any stress on the screw or canting of the fixture by binding....The screws are generally hardened and should be affixed with a torque wrench. The lock-tight is used to keep the screw from back out.
Don
It is reassuring that the screw size was correct. I supplied the blue Loctite with the mount when I returned it. The original screw was very soft and looked like the threaded portion was not long enough causing the shoulder on it to bottom out and therefore it was overtightened when trying to lock it on the rail. Thank you for the information and thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice to see you around again Steve, yes it has been a while, welcome back!
Thank you!
Glad you're back my friend! Been way too long.
That is for sure. Full explanation in my next video. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Gday Steve, great to see you back mate, this turned out a easy repair, great job, cheers
Thank you, Matty. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. I know that you are going though a tough time yourself. My younger brother had the more common lymphoma a few years ago and has recovered good as new. Keep fighting. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Sometimes you get lucky. I have a lot of video planned. I also did a lot of traveling and resting this past Summer. Time to get back to work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Good to see you back!!!
Thank you, Andy. I had a job using the dividing head that you donated just before I had to shut down. I did not have the time to video the job as it was just before I went into the hospital. I was able to get all of the missing parts and additional dividing plates. Th job turned out to be a total disaster but the dividing head worked great. Thank you again for your support of my channel.

G’day mate, hope ya feeling better. Good to see ya back. Have a good one 👍🇦🇺
Thanks for the visit and comment.
I just had a head dropped off yesterday because it’s got 3 busted off manifold bolts. Imagine that! Lol
I used to get those types of jobs into my shop everyday. I begged the mechanics not to try and get them out before they brought them to me, Most of the time by the time I got the job it had a broken drill or ezout in it.
New to your channel - enjoying catching up.
Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Good to see you back. I am wondering if the screw was soft and not good quality and that is why it broke where it did.
It was soft for sure. I think that the threads were too short and the shoulder of the screw bottomed out. The new screw is much better quality and I don't think that it will break again. Thanks for watching and commenting.
