- ■ Kimi Antonelli has been making the news all over again after his F2 sprint race win during the sprint race in Silverstone, but Wolff’s statements are likely showing that he would like the youngster to follow the path that Russell followed before he was promoted to Mercedes. Obviously, a lot is going on in Mercedes right now with the departure of Hamilton and the sudden discovery of pace, as well as Sainz’s availability being still an option for the Brackley-based squad, but in all of this mess, where does Antonelli end up? And more importantly, could we see him join a third, dark-horse team that has a vacant seat from 2025 onwards?

this sounds like a much better idea than the other way around
Antonelli hype is a bit absurd he wasnt showing good results much in F2 untill last race, surely he got talent but he isnt next Schumacher or Verstappen or Hamilton as people like to pretend. Maybe one day but at the moment deffinetely not, Williams tho would be good option for him to focus on learning.
Mercedes feels like the best choice for Sainz if he wants to keep fighting at the top as mercedes seems to be coming back in car performance. Interesting to see what happens :)
Why Toto is not considering Alex Albon for Merc seat? George and Alex will make solid team. Williams can go with Esteban and Kimi.
Sainz would jump at the chance to win a championship and mercedes can deliver that
It's not just a solid competitive car that matters to Carlos, it's the term that matters. He wants 2 + 1 or 2 at minimum. Merc is offering 1yr.

Yes, he is a good driver, but Merc of course is not gonna give him a killer contract when they also need to be able to kick him out if Red Bull implodes and Max wanna come over in a year or two - or Kimi shows that he really has it. Sainz will end up having to take what is offered if he wants that seat or maybe somewhere in the middle since it does seem Toto is cooling off on Kimi. But I'd be very surprised to see Sainz get more than a 1+1. Which honestly, he should take in a hearbeat.

I'd have to disagree with that Sainz is probably the driver with the better floor but leclerc has a better ceilling it feels

I feel Sainz is waiting for Red bulls decision on Perez to be honest, if they decide to stay with Perez he will go to Mercedes, if they don't stick with him, he will go to Red Bull

Carlos for sure. Let Antonelli cook a lil bit more. Even max drove for rb junior team first.
Carlos for 2 years minimum with performance clauses. Kimi to Alpine if Mercedes supplies engines. let Williams fend as a independent team since James Vowels has stated several times that Williams is not the Mercedes development team anymore.

@@jondonnelly4831 He was offered a seat by Toto but he rejected. Most likely because it was a one year deal and Aston gave him multiple years probably with better pay as well.

Carlos needs and deserves a factory drive....and Merc would benefit given their upward trajectory.
I half feel Merc is the spot he should start, start with Bono from the start and build the perfect foundation. Russell learned bad habits from Williams that they still need to break.
Antonelli shoud stay in f2 in 2025, then 1-2 years in a Williams. So Merc could give Sainz a 2 year deal. And afterwards depending on the delta in oerformance between sainz and Russell keep one and team him with Antinelli
Sainz and Russel, Carlos seems to be better at setup or at least better at communicating what he needs to get every drop out of the SF. I like Charles and he isn't a slouch in setup either given he took the Alfa to finishes it didn't deserve. Russel did the same when he was at Williams concerning setup and results, he just needs to get it together every race. Sometimes he seems closer to Lando with plenty of skill but not enough "feel" and seeming to be flustered on the radio when the pressure is on. I want to see RIC and PER move on and have someone like Carlos or Lawson with VER in 2025. People say Liam needs more time to prove himself to beat out RIC, however he seemed to do that with little notice to sub for RIC during his injury. I get RIC bc of $$$ and PER bc of even more $$$, but I don't think RB or the drinks company are broke and are not able to afford building a car without either driver in their stable.
Antonelli is overrated, Mercedes should give Sainz a seat and Antonelli should still be in F2 and then go to Williams
If you talk about overrated drivers, look at Ricciardo for example :)

Sainz is alright but it seems like Leclerc is lacking atm. Even Hulkenberg beat Sainz. Tbf Hulkenberg beat every team mate except Ricciardo. I never understood the hype around Sainz. He is average, maybe slightly above average.
Nah, he is decently fast when he can be, he doesn't make many mistakes, he can deliver wins, and he has a high race IQ. Not that average.
