Did two comic actors ever play off each other better than these two? Thanks, Mr Sellers and Mr Lom, for giving us some of the most memorable, classic comedies of all time, in the Pink Panther series.
I've seen some remakes but haven't seen anyone who could play Clouseou. Hardly anyone has managed this mixture of someone who is already aware of his incompetence but always tries to cover it up with arrogance and solves the most dangerous situations by being clumsy. Close by were Johnny English (GB) and Maxwell Smart (USA) but not a French protagonist. What a shame, I'm still waiting for it.
@@vardellsfolly5200 Ok, Fry and Laurie are housenumbers. Phthon sadly the most died. But for Clouseou? I saw "The Man with Two Brains" with Steve Martin. That was near, but he played Clouseou and unfortunately he totally messed up. Sadly low card. An american cant try to play a french detective. Clouseou is not a typical French. He's a typical idiot with a french touch. He should have played it like "The man with two brains". My fav, Adrien Brody. Maybe? Johnny Depp? Or very bold, Christoph Waltz? John Cleese sadly to old. Sacha Baron Cohen? Good tip. Marc Strong? Maximilian Brückner? Christoph Maria Herbst?
@@PropperNaughtyGeezer Graham Chapman died, yes. And now, Terry Jones. But Terry Gilliam and John Cleese, and Eric Idle and Michael Palin are alive. Steve Martin although a good comedian, completely disgraced Clouseau. But Geoffrey Rush was pretty damn good as Peter Sellers.. sadly, yes. Too old now..
Like Holmes without Watson, or Poirot without Hastings. In certain sense those type of great personages even in the comedy need great testimonies who are also great personages. Dreyfus is the testimony of Closeau. But take a look on it: it is not the same as the roles of say, Robin to Batmam or Kato to Closeau. Hastings, Watson, Dreyfus impersonate the "common men" who testify us that they are really observing or handling a very unique other personality. Like Sancho supporting Don Quixote. Brazil
@clouseau187 Brilliantly stated. There is no other way. Dreyfus's eye will twitch forever and that is it. Clouseau is a lunatic genius and Dreyfus is a maniac because of Clouseau. Genius.
Only Herbert Lom could play Dreyfus, and Sellers could play Inspector Cleusaux
Yes,they both were brilliant
God.rest.their dear souls, and many thanks for years of gales of laughter!
Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom were both brilliant actors.
One of the funniest things i've ever seen, no joke.
lol When losing consciousness is the best way for an organism to cope.
Pik-a-beuh!!
Te he he, lol 😂 said the officer of the leu (law)!!!
Rest in peace, Herbert Lom
The supreme actors with a great script. It doesn't get any better....rip all.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

My dad took me to see these films as a kid. My dad still loves them and my mom still hates them. It worked out well for me :)
Cleauseau would have incomplete without Dreyfus
agree. most of the hilarious moments when they meet

Sergeant Chevalier (Andrè Maranne) is 96 and is still with us.
I thought he died in '92
@@irvingmicheaux2761 Well, he IS dead by now; 2021.
He would certainly tell us interesting things about both actors.
Peek a beau!
What does it means?
Well it's an old game peek a boo, I can see you. But this is said in an outrageous french accent so it becomes peek a beau.
Classic!
Peek-a-beua? LOL!!!!!!
'Peek-a-booRRR' :D
Well done clouseau you just gave Dreyfus a heart attack at 0:18

Did Blake Edwards create these characters?
So simple, but 100% effective.
