  • In my second CZcams video I unbox, assemble and fine tune my Shinko brand AH200 joint which I purchased from @dictum. Hopefully I cover most of the important points but if you have any further questions please feel free to ask in the comments. I try to answer all my viewers questions.

    Considering getting this one, though probably the AH200s with the cast iron tables. Thanks a lot for the video, very practical and helpful about the setup and adjustments!

      I would get the “S” myself too, when I purchased this, the “S” line wasn’t announced, I will likely be upgrading the tables though at a later date to the cast iron ones 🤟

    Nice video, it seems to me that it is the AH200 version with aluminum tables. At the moment, they offer an AH200S version with steel tables!
    Were they in the catalog 2 months ago when you bought yours or is it recent?

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před rokem

      Oh those weren’t there 2 months ago, looks like they will be arriving in July. I think at the price point the steel series are coming in at I would personally consider a small format stationary machine. Having said that I wonder if they offer an upgrade from the AH200 to the S 🤔

    Hi. Thank You for nice presentation. I am considering purchase. My only fear is, that fence is attached to piece of plastic. Is it stable enough to support the board? Doesn't it wiggle?

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před 7 měsíci

      Im not sure what you mean, the fence is attached to what looks like painted black cast iron, in terms of stability, its great iv had no issues what so ever and its been the best fence out of all the small foot print jointers iv had so would definitely recommend. I would even go as far as to say this is currently the best small foot print jointer this side of the world (Eu) that there is to offer

    • @JuloMihal
      @JuloMihal Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@woodcraft_cz Thank You. I was assuming it is plastic, based just on how it looks on the video. I have recently lost my Scheppach HMS850 (a really good tool for beginners) due to misuse by another user, and I am searching for a replacement/upgrade. I will probably order this one.

    So, what do you think about this machine? I think to buy one of these but price for that small tool is quite high.

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před rokem +3

      Yes, I most definitely can’t argue with you on the price. It is expensive I feel, but as far as I’m aware I don’t think there is competition in the same size with helical cutters. Price aside the unit is superb! I’ve had two other similar sized units (one smaller, one slightly larger) and by far this is my favourite, the most important features for me is precision and tune ability. This unit has both, structurally it seems sound and adjustments are easy enough as seen on the video. My only logical upgrade next would be, space permitting, a full size unit such as the A3 from felder or Jet, it would however be a great deal more expensive then this unit. So if you don’t make large tables or need to joint large panels I don’t think I could recommend a better jointer of similar properties 🙌🏼

    Hi nice video
    lm thinking of getting one. Did the price include delivery l live in the UK and did you have to pay any import duty. Bought a Triton TSPL152 planer but setting it up yesterday has alot of faults which lead me to believe it won't plan with any degree of accuracy which kind of defeats the purpose of it. Gone past the 30 day return period but hoping to return it. You mention in the comments you've had other machines do you have any experience of the Triton. Thanks

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Nick, i had this delivered here in the Czech Republic so I didn’t pay duties as it’s in the EU. Yes I had the triton just before this and it was ok but I really wanted a helical head, the fence was ok but not great, this is an improvement but not Felder good. It’s still in my opinion the best small footprint jointer on the market currently however 👍

    • @nickcrouch5622
      @nickcrouch5622 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi thanks for the quick response. Thought cz might mean you're in Czech Republic. Bloody brexit. Will have to wait and see if FFX will accept my return. Although the shinko is twice the price of the Triton its 200mm so bigger capacity and the helical cutter. Would you say its worth the extra cost. Thanks

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před 3 měsíci

      @@nickcrouch5622 for me definitely, the extra width is always handy and the the helical so far has been great, generally I just feel it’s easier to process the stock against the blade with the helical.

    Hello. Are you still happy with it a year later ? I would definitely be interested in hearing your thoughts after you used it for a while, I have a small workshop, a small budget and I make small things too so I am wondering if this would be the jointer to go with, I don't want to buy one of the crappy 2-300€ models and I can't really afford a massive one.

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před měsícem +1

      iv had most of the other small models and this is still by far the best small foot print jointer. To answer your question, yes, im still very happy with this machine, well worth the money and have had no issues at all over this course of time.

    Hows your feeling after 6 months? What is lenght with extensions?

    • @woodcraft_cz
      @woodcraft_cz  Před 8 měsíci

      I love it quite simply, for a small foot print jointer it’s the best Iv had and Iv had a few in the past, I wish I could have a full size but due to space I can’t and to my knowledge this is the best option. The only gripe I can sort of mention is more about these jointers on a whole and that the blade guard is annoying. Iv seen state side they they have a tear drop type guard that opens up when stock is passed through. Iv even seen it on a small foot print machine by “Rikon” I think but that’s not an option for use guys in the EU I believe. So to answer, it’s great, I would only change it if I got a large machine. As for total length I believe it’s 130 fully opened but I’d need to double check 🤔

    • @123kkkable
      @123kkkable Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@woodcraft_czi dig that rikon or other simillar models expand to 130 so probably its same here. What was the longest wood that you joint on that?

      @@123kkkable 1.1 or 1.2m I think 🤔 can’t fully recall. One thing though is clamp/bolt it down if you want it for longer pieces, due to its size and weight, it needs to be secured to avoid balance issues
