Love the colours that were used more often on older bike's.
Normally more work moding these old bike's than the selling price reflects, but they turn out awesome and you get to enjoy building something special, so a win in my book. 😃
This bike never looked better.
Details like flipping the seat mount for a clean look, the new comfort bar and the wheel for the rear brake wire set this one apart.
A really nice on. Absolutely worth watching. 😁🤙
Thank you very much I appreciate that ! Definitely a lot of fun getting this back together. Thanks for watching & the kind comments 🙏😊
So beautiful! I have been watching all your vids after coming across the channel, can’t get enough.
I recently bought my first bike for restoration - 90s Marin bobcat frame. Probably wouldn’t have got if it it weren’t for your vids! Thank you for motivation and info so buzzing hehe
Hell ya dude thank you so much that means a lot. Glad you’re loving the bikes! Super fun
How' s the bike coming along?
You should put on some chrome bars, chrome fenders, some other chrome bits, and tan wall tires to get it looking as Barbie as possible.
Hahah I like it the way it is ! Would make a cool Barbie bike tho
Great little restoration. Ready for a new owner all freshened up. Great frame! Color and graphics really give it a personality.
Cheers Aaron i appreciate that!! I think the color looks great too 👍👍
I bet Garys balcony smells like wd40 all over the place!😂 when I feel the urge to tinker with bikes, I watch Gary do it instead, so I feel satisfied and my wife wont kill me for bringing more bike junk to my house😂
Hahahaha protip I used low odor wd40 !!
this kind of stepthrough frame is cool i have almost the same kind bike (just from different brand) and its pretty fun to ride
Nice ! Ya they are fun bikes for sure, cruisey
Love the title representation 🙌🏼 and of course, great video!
cheers!! Bikes for everyone ! 😊
thanks from the UK, great stuff
Cheers man ! Greetings from Melbourne aus !
Beauty - hopefully that quill stem works on something. Really cool.
Cheers man! Haha yes that stem is a big one, hopefully I can use it for something
sick ride gaz. tip for grip removal - slide a cable tie down as far as you can & spray rubbing alcohol underneath. makes it way way easier to remove
Cheers man thanks for the tip!
Re: inner bash guard, you can use 3x chainring bolts and use washers to push it inwards more👍🏾
Ahhh yesssss 👍
The Malaysia sticker with the Japan underneath is probably due to them moving the tooling from Japan to Malaysia, so they have to note it as a Malaysia made part.
Ahhh I see , good to know thank you !
Totally rad paint job!
Cheers Cam! Was in great condition!
Man! You have great taste in bikes. Pretty new to the channel but i’m hooked. Definitely the coolest commuter/gravel builds on YT. What do you do for a work? Product design?
Cheers Ben! I appreciate that. I used to work in design (branding) so maybe that helps haha , I just like cool stuff 😅
I enjoyed the vid Gary!! such a cool bike! the pink really pops
Cheers mate I appreciate that!! Pink is super vibrant !
Awsome❤
Thank you ! 🙏😊
As usual, love your work!
Cheers Ken i appreciate that !! 🙏😊
Nice bike and really cool video again :) … And probably not a "pro tip" but I did end up taking apart old 7-speed cassettes (the ones I had were screwed together with 3 bolts, either with small hex caps or pretty tiny allen heads) to clean them up. Most of the time they end up looking like a brand new cassette since you have every cog separate.
Oh that’s a good idea! Thanks for the kind words cheers! 😊
Great vid as always, Gary! Just curious, how many teeth are on the front chainring?
Cheers Ian i appreciate that ! It has 38t on the front 👍
Reminds me a lot to my girlfriend's Giant Brownstone that I helped her to buy. Great ride (but it's 700c)
Hell ya dude! They are fun bikes 😊
Tops
Thx mate!
This would be perfect for a nice premium nexus 8 hub fixie or single speed drivetrain.
Would be cool!
9.25.... baggy trousers by madness??
😆😆😆
GARY! do you remember what size was this frame? 15"? 16"?
16” cheers mate
i fixed up a trek 4300 i found but its still too tall for my mom to lift her leg over so im lookin for a step through and theyre hard to find. i need it to have a regulars size headset for a fox fork i refuse to get rid of. mostly seen some hybrids that arent exactly ideal.
Damn that would be cool! A step though with a suspension fork!! Hope u can find your mom something. Cheers!
No Bud light for me
That handlebar is not original, so the shifters and levers might have been loose, because they never got around to finishing after replacing the bars; they likely put the new tyres on at the same time and never ridden since.
Ahhh I see that makes sense
@@garysprojects Someone sunk some money into the bike; those VO bars, Oury grips and Vittoria tyres would have added up to over $200..
@@petesmitt lucky for me ! 😂🙏
Is that chainring narrow wide?
It’s not
So chain does not fall off? My bike my is currently SS, the chain ring also has a chain guide but only on the otherside
Yeah it doesn’t fall off , only if you are doing going off road with lots of bumps and stuff
@@garysprojects but if I instead replaced it with narrow wide chainring, wont it fall off even on bumps and off roads?
@@aaronviaje134 ya it will hold onto the chain better
Acapulco is a City of México
That is true
