What a wonderful collection! Where I´m living, cap and ball revolvers are as hard to obtain and own as modern day firearms. It would also be almost impossible to buy more than 2-3. I would like to see #2 Colt Walker next. It is such a behemoth! Keep up the great work and regards from Europe
Original antique firearms shooting black powder only and using obsolete calibers are free to own for all over eighteen years old in the Netherlands ( and for as far as I know in the whole of europe.) When you want to shoot them you need to be member of a shooting club and have a license for the ammo, powder, bullets and primers etc. When you want to shoot/own a replica (new made gun) they have to be regirstred and they are seen as full firearms for wich you need a gun license. Replicas need to be stored in a certified gunsafe antiques you can hang on you wall. I've been shooting BP for more then thirty years now, it never gets dull.
Number 4. It’s also my latest addition. Mine is an Uberti and she was rough when I received it. After some stoning and polishing it’s a great shooter now. Slixshot nipples and half of another main spring did wonders for this little handgun .
Fantastic , I agree they are works of art. This video made my morning! 4. ‘62 police 3. ‘49 pocket 2. Colt walker By the way is that new model police with the 6 1/2” barrel? 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Nice video! As u may already know, I am mostly a Remington man. These are my favorite of my collection, except for my 63 pocket, and 66 carbine(now has a 45 colt gated conversion cylinder). The carbine as a cap and ball successfully got a 60gr charge in behind a 165gr conical. For velocities of over 1500fps. I own currently 10 Remington revolvers. Add to that is a Rodgers and Spencer, Ruger old army, 1849 pocket(better in the hand over Remington), and the 47 Walker( with a gated conversion in 45-55 walker) which you may have seen. I have three more Remingtons to aquire, as well a 3rd model dragoon, 60 army, a 62 sheriff I want to add. Mountain man
Hi Jay, I didn't get to see this video until very recently. That a mighty good array of revolvers, I wish I could keep mine in the open but we have to lock them up in cabinets over here. I think my collection favourite is a Uberti 1851 Colt Navy (made in 1979) but it is Nickel plated. How that turned up in the UK I have no idea and it was quite cheap so I was over the moon to get it. It shoots better than I do and at POA :) Cheers Chris
Thanks Chris. We have safe storage laws too but mainly focused on kids. We have no kids! I do lock them up when we have people over…especially if they have young uns. But these are never loaded so I don’t worry too much. That sounds like a great Navy.., I just got a nickel plated Ruger Old Army! I’ll be showing it soon. Thanks Chris. Cheers
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb Ah, a Ruger Old Army and nickel plated, I'll look forward to seeing that. I have a stainless, target version .45 Its interesting to see the revolver design progression getting up to the Ruger, they are well made, good and solid too :) If you run out of ammunition you still have a good hand to hand weapon !! haha I'm going to be shooting some .44's with conical bullets tomorrow, probably raining but that won't stop the shooting Cheers Chris
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb Ah safety around kids is really good. We can't have loaded guns in the home either and ammo and gun in different cabinets ideally.
Hi, from one cap and ball lover to another, like you I love cap and ball revolvers - especially Colts. I have a Supposedly Colt made .44 1860 New Army model, after buying it I was told they were made by Uberti 'in the white' for Colt to finish but they are different from the one I had from Uberti and it was a lot more money. My favourite and the first one I bought back in 1981 or so is a Uberti .36 Navy Colt retailed by Westerners Arms (USA), also a .44 Palmetto (Italian) made Walker Colt which these days since tearing my rotator cuff tendon in my shoulder is too heavy to use properly and finally a Pietta (Italian) made .36 Remington Navy model. Although I do own a Ruger .44 Old Army model but that's not a copy of any 1800's model, nice gun to play with though. Maybe you've not heard of this one but it's a German (almost totally hand made) Hege replica of a 1840's target pistol in .33 calibre originally made by a Swiss watchmaker called Siber. Before my shoulder problem and when I was a lot younger my average was 90 out of 100 shot at a standard target offhand at 25metres, its capable of 100 ex 100 but I'm not 😌😂😂😂 Here in Spain, as an expat Brit, the laws are quite strict for firearm ownership but BP weapons come under a different licence and are not so difficult but still need registering. In France evidently you do not have to declare them and can own as many as your cash allows. UK is different and all guns have to have permission on your licence, before purchase. As for your request for me to vote for a revolver for you to show us then it must be number 2 - the Walker Colt - the original .44 magnum of the old west, as Clint would say "make my day". great video by the way. regards, Morgan
Greetings and welcome from Spain. You have a great collection. I’ve never heard of the German target pistol but it sounds like a shooter! It sure sounds like we share a love of cap and ball revolvers! Thanks for voting. Just in time! I’ll be putting out the final results video later today so your the last counted vote on this one. Keep in touch and hope that shoulder gets repaired soon!!! I’ve had one…they aren’t fun.
The shoulder problem was caused from falling off my motorbike in the UK back in 2001 although it was operated on a year later its never been any good since for shooting off hand. But thanks for your sympathy. I only saw your site today hence a quick message to you straight after watching the video. I also own a Parker Hale .577 2 band Navy Enfield rifle and a .451 Parker Hale volunteer model which I used to shoot up to 1,000 yards at Bisley in the UK. Plus an original .577/450 Martini Henry rifle and a Snider conversion .577 3 band Enfield rifle . All of which were shot in many competitions when I lived in the UK. Basically you can never own enough firearms, there is always another elusive one needed 😂😂😂 @@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb

Ive been fiddling with it, might actually adjust the crown a bit and see if i can bring it down lol. Cant get the sight in the back low enough to make a difference... My vote is your Walker (cause why not... Love mine with the 260 Grain Dragoon Bullet) and that 45 Flintlock....who dont like a Flintlock? Yes theyre fussy and complain but when they run, theyre a lotta fun... Ive had issues with my 1849 colt pocket cap jamming, swapped the nipples... Wow! Thanks, that was fun! Of course I'm severely jealous since my "collection", if it can be called that, is probably going to be limited to four, all Uberti/Colts. I have the baby Navy now and the 1849 .31 caliber on the way as of a couple of days ago. It was a struggle to make up my mind between the 1849 and the Pocket Police and the 'Pocket Police lost for the time being so it will have to wait a while longer. Of course I just have to have a full size Navy so the 1851 Navy is on my "Hope to buy" list and will probably be my last one after the Pocket Police. As for the choice of which to test? That's a tough one but I will pick no. 4. I also wanted to ask if you know of a capper that will work with the little pocket models? I have several different ones but none will fit, I modified an inline capper but I still can't get it to work very well. Thanks again for this fun video, I really enjoyed it!
Well, Maybe I need to spend more time on CZcams. I missed this video when it came out. I don't think my vote would have changed the results very much because I would have picked the Spiller and Burr anyway. Have a good day and make some smoke.
I was kinda hoping a Lemat would be in your collection. The one revolver I think isn’t really made, but probably the coolest. I’m a fan of the Size of the 1847 Walker even though I’ve never held one. Also the Remington reproduction old/new Army because apparently they were made very well and could take smokeless powder.
@awsomedude9111 yea they do and that’s a little past my budget for a bit…I have friends that really dislike their lemat. I guess loading levers break and they are big chain fire candidates. But, maybe one day.
My 49 pocket is fun also. I silver plated it except for the frame which I left color case. A great thing is the 00 buck at .380 is perfect and increases accuracy. To me.... the 51 and 60... 36/44 have been done to death so I vote for the 49 pocket or the 62 pocket police.... Vote being..... #3 or #4
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb Really! using 00 buck? it has to be the cheapest and easiest BP revolver to shoot. Also I would love to do one on a 31 caliber Patterson. 10 grains of powder and a half a cent ball? LOL
The 1851 Navy may have been made in a larger caliber because Sam Walker was given a blank check by Texas he had 2 colts one 36 cal the other a 44 cal he wrote a letter to Cold telling him he wanted a 1000 handguns something bigger that the 36 but smaller than the 44 cal in 6 months but Colt was out of business. So Colt got started up once more.

Big fan jay stone.question,as I approached retirement age I began collecting cap and ball revolvers.including some modern iterations like naa mini,Ruger old army and a diablo shot pistol.i have a total of 20 guns now.none fired.now I'm ready to jump into the hobby as I'm now officially retired.im hesitant to begin shooting them because I'm absolutely not mechanically inclined and the disassembling of them to properly clean them is something I'm not looking forward too.i don't think I could even completely break one down and reassemble it without calling my gunsmith.i have plenty of smokeless weapons but this black powder thing seems daunting.i want to dive into the hobby now as iv got a good collection going into it.but I'm worried that maybe I should just sell them all unfired before I get in too deep and wreck them.what are your thoughts on that jay stone?
Ok … I’m not mechanically inclined either yet I learned to break them down. The colts have like 7 moving parts is all. I actually learned by watching a CZcams video. Then practiced. If you’re worried, just pick 1 and try it. You can write me anytime here or my email on my channel. Plus. You don’t have to tear them all the way down everytime. I say jump in brother. I’m retirement age and what a terrific hobby! So…let me know if I can help. Pick 1 and go for it! You can’t ruin them…to start, find a good set of gunsmith screw drivers. Plus, I paid my gunsmith for any hour of his time so he could teach me how to clean them. Best 50$ I ever spent!
My thoughts on 'fantasy guns' is not so much purist but.... Why? Lets take a 44 1851 Navy for instance. Why? The word pointless comes to mind. The 1860 Army is a 44 cal gun. It used the 1851 frame... that was cut a bit to use a stepped cyl.. back half 1851 36 cal and front was a bigger around (for 44 cal.) At the end of the war of Northern aggression... Surplus 1860's were sold at really good prices. You did not have to have the skillset of Saint Browning to screw on an 1851 gripframe.... and... have an 1860 Army 44 that for all the world felt and handled like an 1851 Navy... duh.... Lots of folks did just that. Course you will have the round barrel with its superior seating lever.... But... it won't be a fantasy gun. it will be one commonly done back in the day.
And I agree with you. To assume this kind of thing didn’t happen and some version of this gun didn’t exist as a homestyled firearm is assuming we presently know a lot more than we do. Just cause it’s not recorded somewhere … with all the post war surplus available…in my mind doesn’t mean much. That’s why I’m critical of folks who talk down. Thanks.
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb yeah.... maybe but.... Oxams razor... it would take ten times the effort to make that gun than it would to just swap out parts. Do you think any blacksmith would be able to enlarge the frame window and move the bolt etc? and for what purpose? No... I am thinking since no examples exist that none will ever be found. and why would they? There would be NO point. Maybe some rich guy as an experiment but he would have to be rich and stupid since he could do the same for almost nothing. Sooo my take? is... with the wealth of repros available? I mean... think about it.

@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb Really! using 00 buck? it has to be the cheapest and easiest BP revolver to shoot. Also I would love to do one on a 31 caliber Patterson. 10 grains of powder and a half a cent ball? LOL
I also love cap and ball revolvers. Just wondering how you are dealing with the lack of percussion caps. Thanks!
Luckily I got a stash before they got short. But if I get low I will make them. It’s difficult out there. Thanks
I hear you. We don’t know for sure what was or wasn’t out there 170 years ago. If it wasn’t written down we don’t know for sure
I vote for #1, thanks for the video

Hey cap and ball fanatic you can make
tallying the votes easier by doing a poll in the community post section
Yes. I wasn’t around to do it right away but it’ll be up probably tonight. Thanks man. Got your vote!
Hi I would like to see #5 New model Navy.
I'd like to see the details of how your pistol rack is put together. I need a setup like that.
It’s just 4 rods running the steel sides with foam between. It’d be easy to make but I got them from Amazon for about 50 each. I’ll add the brand name
It’s the Savior gun rack on Amazon
@@CapBallFanatic-gb3jb Cool. Thanks!

Best 50$ I ever spent!
nice.thanks man.but expect me to take you up on the offer to help.iv been known to be needy ...
@ronaldkennedy2401 that’s alright brother! Gotta get you burning powder!
@ronaldkennedy2401 I have a vid called Making you revolver go bang! It’s all about loading! It’s from late last fall.
