#HouseOfTheDragon #DragonsExplained
The first season of House of the Dragon has just ended and it delivered on so many great things. And it gave us so- many-dragons!
About 11 dragons have appeared in season 1. About 12 dragons have appeared in season 1 (2 takes)
Some are big, some are tiny, and some are freaking gigantic.
The show is very well made, however with so many dragons and riders it’s a bit hard to keep track of who’s who and which Targaryen rides what dragon.
So to make things easier, we compiled a list of all the dragons that appear in season 1, and we will go over every dragon, explaining who rides each dragon and their history.
We will also talk about some dragons that didn’t appear in the show yet.
Don’t worry, there won’t be any spoilers, but we are going to reveal who is the biggest living dragon in Westeros.
Surprise, it’s not Vhagar, it’s not even Balerion. There’s a massive dragon out there and its identity and story are wild.
So let’s go over all the dragons in House of the Dragon season 1, as well as all the dragon-riders, the different sizes and the special attributes some dragons have. Including a dragon that shoots gold flames, and another one that has blue flames.
According to Ryan Condal and George R. R. Martin we will see about 17 dragons in the show. Season 1 introduced some of them. And Season 2 will give us more dragons and battles.
Few things before we start.
We will be focusing only on dragons that appeared in season 1 or relevant to the story. So we won’t talk about every dragon that ever lived.
We will mention the size of some of the dragons, but there are no exact measurements for the dragons in the show or the book Fire and Blood which the show is based on.
We will mention the size when it’s relevant though.
The final note is that some of the dragons in the show barely appeared on screen. So for the sake of keeping this video visually interesting, when we talk about some of these dragons we're gonna have to use some random footage to make it work. Apologies in advance. Blame Doug.
What did I do?
Don’t worry bud, no one’s gonna stay mad at a dog for too long, it’s all good.
Wait….I’m a dog? I thought I’m a small dragon.
Ahem… moving on.
To explain dragons we must explain the Targaryens history, since they are intertwined with each other.
About 8 thousand years before the events of House of the Dragon, the Valyriaians in Essos discovered the first dragons. Essos is the continent that is across the narrow sea from Westeros.
According to the Valyrians, the dragons were born from a ring of volcanos called the Fourteen Flames, meaning 14 active volcanoes.
[Dragons came from moon] It is known…
This happened shortly after the Long Night ended in Westeros. Strange coincidence I’m sure.
The Valyrians mastered the secrets of commanding dragons and became the dragonlords.
Neither House of the Dragon nor Game of Thrones ever explained this, but it’s implied that the Valyrians used magic and blood to create a bond with the dragons.
With this power they built the greatest empire in the world, ruling the majority of the continent of Essos.
Despite all the Valyrian empire’s power, nothing could save them from the doom. In one day, the entire land just blew up, likely due to all the fourteen volcanoes erupting at once.
This cataclysmic event is known as the Doom of Valyria. All the Valyrians and their dragons burned, an entire empire just gone in an instant.
Only two Valyrian houses survived the doom, the Targaryens and the Velaryons.
With their naval prowess, House Velaryon arrived in Westeros even before the Targaryens. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I never really thought about how terrifying Vhagar was until I saw her shadow in the sky. She's like an eldritch monster
Ikr she’s like a whole mountain flying
Balereon the dred ridden by aegon the conqueror is bigger and more terrifying than vaghar
@@ahmerali2867 and very dead
But still was bigger and terrifying
@@ahmerali2867 eh only slightly. He was the biggest by far during the conquest, but the years have given Vhagar time to catch up. It was said Vhagar was approaching Balerion's size during the Dance. Her head is about the side of Balerion's skull we see in the catacombs. So she's a little smaller, but still enormous and by far the biggest thing alive in the sky during the dance
That shot of Vhagar’s head rising up past the castle wall in the rain puts her in kaiju territory.
I'm oddly obsessed with that shot.
The vfx crew did amazing work. It gave me God of War vibes
@@superguy7044 me and you both.
Yep. Been saying that for days now. I was like wth! How big is this monster?!
I love that shot - but it's terrifying to think Balerion was even bigger, and not by a small margin, but an abundant margin. Like, 20-30% larger. The Black Dread was truly a weapon of mass destruction.
FACTS!!
Caraxes is such a cool dragon. I love how when he flies, its like watching a ribbon float in the air. Its so fluid and natural
He looks like a Chinese dragon because of his snake shape like body instead of being a generic European dragon with dinosaur shape like body and that makes him exotic and unique in Westeros universe
I've heard a lot of people say they like Ceraxes and try to explain why but this hits the nail on the head.
You got it completely wrong. Caraxes has the classical European dragon design (except the hind leg wing membranes). It's only modern western fantasy that makes dragons look like the rest of dragons from the show.@@sepehradonis6959
@@sepehradonis6959exactly thats what i been saying
Another fun fact from the books is that every dragon has a different coloured dragon flame. For example Drogon breaths black and red flames, Viserion cream and Rhaegal green. Sunfyres flame was golden and Syraxes was yellowish, and so on… The colour of the dragon flames equals the colour of dragons scales.
Thank god they’ve decided to not implement that Disney movie style idea
@@georgedanielsbizi think some coloured flames would actually be cool, but not for them to match the dragon, but rather play with the different natural flames colouring according it their heat, like some dragons have a stronger flame than others, etc. Like they can play with blue, violent-bluish, yellow, orange, red, and even greenish, but implement the different colours according to their heatpower, not the dragons's colour.
"Disney movie style idea"
Nothing about that is Disney, it's all chemistry.@@georgedanielsbiz
@@buragi5441 yeah right , golden dragon flame is so scientific lmao
@@georgedanielsbiz yes because dragons and firebreathing is also extremy scientificaly accurate /s
I love the sound that Caraxes makes. It reminds me of a bald eagle, a massive predator, but they make little chirps instead of the loud screech like a hawk.
It's a really cool sound, I like that it is two tones at once, the deep rumbling and the higher pitched screeching sound.
@@lauragarnham77 the rumbling of his lungs through that long body followed by the shrill that is his roar
I love the fact that every dragon looks, sounds and feel different from one another. One can tell which dragon it is about just by the sound it makes.
Another fun fact about dragons from the books - The smaller dragons (like baby Vermax size) are more dangerous for the dragon keepers to be around than the bigger dragons. The smaller dragons don't understand their power and end up lighting things (and people) on fire. Where the older dragons understand their power and know to be careful.
I think that's an allusion to venomous snakes from our world. A baby copperhead is far more dangerous to encounter in the wild, because when they bite you they release every bit of poison in them, not knowing how to control the amount they release.
Careful... mhm dragon says "fuck it light everything up mom wants me to"
Similar to the myth of venomous baby snakes. It was believed that getting bitten by an infant viper was more dangerous than by an adult one because the young didn't control their "dose". Maybe that's where they got the idea from.
We don't actually know if the Cannibal is bigger than Balerion just that he is one of the biggest and oldest dragons alive at the time of the dance of the dragons
there is quite a bit of wrong information in this video , for example Vermithor isnt bigger than Vhagar and Cannibal certanly isnt bigger than Balerion, George himself has said that Vhagar ios the biggest during the dance , I dont believe that author is lying about the story he wrote :D
Cannibal is not bigger than Balerion. Balerion was the biggest, then came Vaghar, and after her was Vermithor.
@@mayanknegi9167 i doubt balerion was the biggest considering the Targaryens were 40th of all the noble houses in valyria the high ranking house probably had way more stronger and bigger dragons like think about it who was balerion parent? He can't just magically spawn
@@Antonio20067 Balerion was the largest Targaryen dragon and the biggest dragon Westeros has seen. It's literally written like that in Fire and Blood.
@@Alex-tx8lf right they've actually seen him but we've never seen any of the dragons in valyria we've never seen cannibal and we've never seen the ice dragons in the north who are confirmed to be larger than valyrian dragons
A fun note on Helaena’s dragon Dreamfyre - It’s well hinted that she’s the mother of a lot of the dragons in the show! She’s even hinted to be the dragon that laid Dany’s eggs! Syrax is the only other one noted for laying a ton of clutches i think.
I thought that Sunfyre was the mother of Dany's eggs?
meleys also laid a few and it's debated whether or not dreamfyre or meleys is the mother of dany's 3 dragons in GoT.
@@valoreVii I thought Sunfyre is a boy
@@valoreVii yes, I just googled. Sunfyre is male
Dreamfyre laid three eggs on Fair Isle but these hatched on Dragonstone. Elissa Farman stole three eggs from Dragonstone and sold them to a Pentoshi magister, and it’s theorized that these are the eggs eventually given to Daenerys in the main series. But no information is given about which dragon laid these eggs, it’s possible they were a clutch previously laid by Dreamfyre but they could just as easily be from any other dragon.
Caraxes is my favorite.
Balerion's skull looks too small to me to be one of the biggest, but it's tough to get any kind of scale of these dragons.
Skulls are smaller then people realize, the hippo is my favorite example
@@acediadekay3793 ohhhhh that makes sense.
Yeah. Their scales are pretty tough. You should try using mirthril or an equivalent metal to pry them out.
It does seem way too small. You were supposed to be able to ride a moose into his mouth, which does not seem possible with that skull.
@@cosmicriptid a mamoth, actually
I want to clarify that cannibal is the largest WILD Dragon, balerion was still the biggest dragon, also the size of vhagar during the dance is comparable to balerion so you can already imagine the size of balerion.
I believe Vhagar during the Dance is comparable to Balerion during the Conquest. So imagine how huge Balerion was by the time he died considering he lived for another several decades😳
@@jamesw7098 balerion wasn’t that old during the conquest, being probably 125 ish based on the fact that he was a rather young dragon when he got to dragonstone. He was about 230 when he died and the conquest was 130 years before the dance so vhagar is just almost as big as balerion at this point, not just during the conquest
@@charlieswanney8610 I think that’s what he said
@@pimpchez no he said vhagar was the same size as conquest balerion and I’m saying she was almost the size of regular balerion
I thought cannibal was larger than balerion, but he wasn't as well studied. It's probably a toss up.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, Dreamfyre is believed to be the one who laid the 3 eggs that became Dany's dragons.
That's one theory. Not proven.
The stolen eggs speculated to be Danys dragons were taken from Dragonstone. Dreamfyre didn't roost at Dragonstone for any long period of time iirc so the parents of Danys dragons are likely Syrax and Caraxes.
"Only 2 Valyrian houses survived the doom"
Come on Ryan! No love for house Celtigar?! Long live the crab lord
I wanna see the Valyrian steel axe so bad
🦀🦀🦀
4 Valyrian Houses survived the Doom: Targaryen, Velaryon , Celtigar, and Qoherys (1st Lords of Harrenhal, extinct at the time of the dance)
There is a fourth house Qoherys.
@@dinabrown8585 No its just 3, House Qoherys was a founded after Aegons Conquest. Aegon gave Harrenhall to his Master-at-arms and thus founding the house. Targaryen, Velaryon and Celtigar were all nobel houses IN old Valyria.
Cannibal wasn’t bigger than Baelerion or even Vaeghar. It was the oldest and biggest of the wilder dragons and it was born on dragon stone so it’s younger than both
yes indeed
we really don’t currently know the absolute size or age of the cannibal it’s not like it has ever let somebody close enough to get accurate measurements lmao. He literally prefaced everything with “some say” because that’s the truth. Some say The Cannibal is THE biggest, Some say it is older than Balerion and Some say it is the biggest *wild* dragon in between Vhagar and Vermithor in size. These stories were meant as history books told from multiple unreliable perspectives and narrators. So he was right when he applied oldEST/biggEST to three different living dragons.
So Vhagar: Oldest and biggest Dragon with a rider, maybe the world
The Cannibal: oldest and biggest wild Dragon, maybe the world
Vernithor: biggest and oldest *unclaimed* Dragon who was tamed
EXACTLY:
@@Embtic The book says literally "The biggest of the WILD Dragons" not the biggest of all the dragons. He probably was born from the same clutch of eggs as Vhagar, but was smaller than her. That's cause Vhagar is often named as the biggest dragon in Westeros. It is also said to have almost the same size as Balerion which was the biggest to ever live in Westeros... So by that logic, Vhagar has to be bigger than the Cannibal.
@@Alejojojo6 it was rumored that he was there even before the Targaryen came
The Cannibal is smaller than Balerion was. Balerion is the largest dragon in ASOIAF.

@@kylelee5966 right!🤣 they glossed over the fact it specifically states he’s the largest of the WILD dragons. Even in the book cannibal doesn’t play much of a role in the dance besides eating a few people on dragonstone and being one of the last dragons to survive

Yup😂
I think since fire and blood is written like a history book, with conflicting information, house of the dragons can have its liberties with the size, colors and personality of each dragon in the dance of the dragons. I think in the book it states cannibal is the biggest *wild* dragon but! No one can really say whether it’s bigger than vhagar. So I’m interested and excited to see what the writers and developers do with cannibal in the show. Should be epic
Martin himself said that Cannibal isn't bigger than Vhagar. You can argue about the book, you can't argue about what the author said.
"only two houses survived the doom"
House Celtigar: "am I a joke to you"
So many lessons of what happens when hatred & hubris guide the hearts of
man instead of love. Season 2 & 3 will be heartbreaking. Dragons were gift from the Lord of Light (I think Ryan was
on to something with his video about how the Targaryen’s lost their dragons). Hatred and hubris will cost the Targaryens & Westeros dearly. There are poignant lessons to take from this incredible drama for our own world. Such a great show - thanks for such amazing content Ryan & crew!
They never learned from the Doom of Valyria.
@@alicecaraballo3910 Humans, as a group, never learn and are doomed to repeat their mistakes.
There is actually a third House in Westeros that has Valyrian ancestry. Like the Velaryons, they are not dragon riders. They also have an island close to Dragonstone where they reside. It is House Celtigar. In the final episode of House of the Dragon their current lord joins the Black’s council. I’m not sure why the show never acknowledged their Velaryon ancestry, but it is spelled out in the book series.
house Celtigar is like the black sheep of the family

I think what I love the most about the series is that they gave all the dragons a distinct personality similar to real life animals.
Syrax reminds me of a Swan, in how she flaps her wings when provoked and roars in a honking style way in the season finale.
Vhagar is like a mighty Whale, deep old groans and sluggish to reflect her immense age and size.
Caraxes is an absolute Serpent, a Snake, in his sleek long limbs and neck, the stalker slithery prowl he does when moving across the battlefield in Episode 3.
Meleys reminds me of a Leopard, green eyed, incredibly fast despite its size and roars with a catlike growl.
Seasmoke somewhat resembles an Eagle, in how he swoops down upon his enemies in Episode 3 and snatches men up with his claws.
Edit: also the Cannibal is nowhere near bigger than Balerion. GRRM literally confirms in Fire and Blood himself that even Vermithor is bigger.
Aemon telling his dragon no, you can feel this emotion in his voice on how he didnt want this

You Aemond simps need to stop
Which is exactly the reason why that "...at that moment..." meme works so well 🤣
Thank you for this! And thank you for not spoiling it. All others just spoil the heck out of their videos when talking about the dragons
The Cannibal isn’t the largest dragon…
He’s presumed to be old and is massive, bigger than Vermithor. The Cannibal was only behind Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes in size.
I’m pretty sure the books says that he was the second largest dragon during the Dance (behind only Vhagar).
The thing is nobody knows anything concrete about The Cannibal, that's why he's so interesting to theorize and speculate about. Nobody can even agree on how old he was.
The books say Vermithor was bigger then him as well.
@@oltihajdaraj8682 then I stand corrected: he was the third largest dragon during the Dance. I’ll check The World of Ice and Fire later.
Dany never talks about her dragons “serving” her. She treated them right (well for the most part if you don’t count season 5) “a dragon is not a slave” her and her dragons views were always one in the same their connection was never “forgotten”
Thanks for all the great info! I can't wait to see what happens.
Thank you for the explanation!! Can't wait until Season 2!
2:24 House Celtigar also came from Valyria
Yeah and house Dayne
@@abbyniloingsigh7188 No House Dayne was already in Westeros all the way back during the time of the first men
I firmly believe that true dragon riders who are strong willed can completely control there dragons ex. Daemond, Raeymera, Reynesse. The way Daemonds dragon shows up in ep. 10 when he’s trying to make sure the kings guard are loyal proves that. He didn’t say a word to his dragon he just showed up when Daemond wanted him to. Now in the fight between Aemon and Luke both are little boys who are insecure and those insecurities are very strong so much so that it affects there bond with there dragons causing them to have an “illusion” that they control there dragons. Ever notice how it’s only weak people that say it’s an “illusion targaryians control dragons” like vesarys who could barely kill a deer when it was held down.. and never spoke of dragon riding himself.. it’s kind of like how people say dogs feed off of there owners emotions and actions and only bad dogs are bad because of there owners.. same thing with dragons. That’s just my opinion tho
I think you're onto something.
Totally makes sense! Other moments throughout the first season show that too.

Balerion is the largest living dragon we ever see in the books, cannibal has many different sources/accounts regarding his size that GRRM/the books gave us with the low ball estimates being somewhere between vhaegar and meraxis (the 3rd conquest dragon) size making him the 3rd largest living dragon in the show to high ball estimates that stated he rivaled or was even on par with a prime belerion in terms of size and just as old if not older then belarion, but based on the drawings and size chart GRRM gave for all the dragons in the show it appears cannibal is gonna be the same size as vhaegar or slightly smaller making him tied for 2nd place or slightly smaller in 3rd place as the largest living dragon we ever see in the series, now there is actually a dragon that existed in GoT that was even bigger then belarion however we never saw this dragon alive as the only scene of this dragon is when dany and others come across it's fossilized skeleton in a area known as the red waste and it is stated to be monstrously huge compared to modern dragons and the books actually do imply that dragons used to grow even bigger before the valerians learned to bond with them and tame them compared to post bonding/taming and this is where dany puts 2 and 2 together that the more free a dragon is the bigger it grows and why the dragons her family owned shrank and sized until they all died out/disappeared and no new eggs hatched bc her ancestors tried taking away there freedom by putting them in the dragon pit, theres also hints that some giant ass dragons exist in the shadow lands and white waste as bran has a warg vision of the shadow lands and sees 1 or more huge dragon shaped silhouettes/shadows moving/flying around in the clouds/fog of the shadow lands and as for the white waste it's a area north of the wall thats stated to be the territory of ice dragons and that these ice dragons apparently grow much bigger then there fire dragon counterparts with it being stated that the average ice dragon is 3x bigger then the average fire dragon and if true would mean there could easily be 1 or more large/huge ice dragons on par with belarion or even bigger then him (assuming GRRM ever decides to show ice dragons in the story that is as he could very well just keep them as a mysterious myth/legend but i would not be surprised if we see atleast 1 show up fighting alongside the others/WW in winds of winter or dawn of spring since the others/WW in the books will need something to act as a equalizer vs dany's 3 dragons and unlike the tv series the OP javelin master nights king does not exist as he is only a tv series original character), theres also myths/legends of sea/water dragons that shoot scalding hot and/or freezing water but we don't have any idea how big they are and like ice dragons they only exist as myth/legend.
I believe the sea dragons were said to grow wayy bigger than land and sky dragons, but again that is only myths we hear from multiple places. Notably Elissa Farman and the Iron Born. Which makes me think they only live in the Sunset Sea, not the Narrow Sea or the Southern Sea. Or possibly the Northern Sea not too many accounts there.
House Celtigar also comes from Valyria

My guilty pleasure is SC videos that give Doug the boss a little narrative 😂
The sound clips you use are money. Such nostalgia most of the time
1st time here Ryan I'm a fan! Thanks for this great overview!
It's nonsense that the Cannibal is the largest dragon. At no point in Fire and Blood is it stated that he was anywhere near as large as either Balerion or Vhagar. Balerion is frequently named as the largest dragon in the history of Westeros, the Cannibal is never mentioned as such. Also the Cannibal gets confused with Sunfyre at one point in the story. Sunfyre is around 20 years old. It simply wouldn't be possible to confuse a dragon as massive as Vhagar with a dragon that young.
Lol that unexpected Doug joke at the end was hilarious 😂

Awesome video cleared so much up for me and so excited for season 2
I came to the conclusion Laena Valaryon took ownership of Vhagar because the King felt guilty about declining the marriage proposal. The dragon riders knew where Vhagar was on the coast of Westeros, so i assumed they had taken her to Vhagar where she claimed her.
I believe that Vermothor was hatched from 1 of Vaeghars clutch of eggs, so to see them battle would be a spectacle. Especially if they take into consideration one has been in the dragon pit while the other has been free all these years. That would lead me to believe they’ll juice that fact and make Vermothor somewhere between the size of Caraxes and Vaegar to makes things a little more interesting
I've been looking forward to this video. Thank you!
Been waiting for dissss !
Speaking of other possible series or specials, I'm kinda hoping that after this is done they'll do something with the Blackfyre Rebellions, sorta bridge the gap between the end of the era of dragons and the end of the Targaryen dynasty. Maybe a little less about the internal politics and more about great battles and legendary knights.
I always wondered, did the Dragon Keepers and Targaryen's not know that keeping the dragons in captivity stunted their growth?
It seemed counter intuitive to keep their largest asset locked away in an environment thats detrimental to them.
Every time I think about this, it makes me sooo mad!! Ugh those poor babies, hate seeing them just trapped
Yeah, seems kinda stupid of them. "Let's stunt our greatest assets"
Otherwise they had to let them free, "Go feed on whatever you want". They are wild animals and HUGE animals, They will devour everything.
@@Rahul-ll1en perfect example is Dany's dragons in GoT, she tried to let them be free and they killed a kid and peoples whole livestock.

He is younger than Vhagar. Cannibal is probably the egg that was put in Maegor crib. It hatched but Maegor rejected it so they had to let it go on DragonStone because the dragonpit was not completed yet. It makes sense.
If the locals of Dragonstone are to be believed, Cannibal resided on Dragonstone even before the Targaryan's moved to the island before the doom. Though most Maesters meet this claim with skepticism.
No the Cannibal was there before they arrived
@@joasbenjamin6804 source is literally: trust me bro
The custom of putting eggs in crib wasn't around yet when Maegor was born, hatchlings where taken from dragonmont and given to the children at the time, if I remember correctly maegor rejected 12 hatchlings because he wanted balerion
Can't wait to see Tessarion in action.
Informative and hilarious😂😂
Great video!
All of the dragons are said to have flames the color of their scales in the books but haven't in the show, so don't expect Sunfyre or tessarion to have gold or blue.
Also vhagar is absolutely the biggest dragon alive cannibal is big but not bigger. Nor is vermithor
are you pronouncing all of the dragons names differently on purpose?
QQ
I haven't even watched one minute of this show, hope it's as good as the screencrush version. We need more Doug and I missed "your mom" in this one. Good video.
Awesome Vid .. thank you ..
I think I'm going insane here but I hear Ryan pronouncing Valyrian, Balerion and Velaryon as Valeryon, Valeryon and Valeryon.
The wonder HOTD instills in the dragons is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the show.
Thank you so much for this spoiler free overview of the dragons. I had googled some of their names at the beginning of the show and got immediately exposed to major spoiler 😤😤! immediate regrets! I don't dare to google anything about the show anymore. The only content I watch are from your channel
Lol spoiler free?? Literally shows the climax of season1 like 10 times
@@trevorwoodwick9955 it's Tuesday. If you haven't watched the season Finale by now, that's on you. Lol
If you haven't watched the show, then don't watch this video. Stop crying!
@@briancromartie3149 lol what makes you think I didnt watch it??
Crying about spoilers for a book that has been out for literally years is so pathetic lmao.
This was an excellent overview. I want to know some background but I don’t want spoilers. Ryan’s summary are the best for getting the balance right. Too many CZcamsrs want to show off how smart they are and just blurt out spoilers without warning. And Doug’s every dog interjections add to the entertainment factor. Nice work Screen Crush :)
Great video Ryan
7:20 Ryan, I think overall childbirth is extremely risky. Thanks to modern medicine it's less common than medival times. However, it's still very risky for mothers.
Agreed it is very risky
All im saying is that sunfyre and aegon are gonna go crazy next season. One of the best dragonriders in the book
@E. Strnad that was King Viserys with Balerion
The Celtigars were also a Valerian house. The only dragon riding family is the Targaryens
For once I laughed at a screen crush video, that side eye from ryan after Doug talk about eating humans, golden
I wish I could fly around on my cat.
This was a really cool video. I love hearing about the dragons.
Can't wait to see the war tactics taken by each dragon and its rider. Seems like vhagar could be used as a bomber or transporter. I also wonder if riders will focus on killing other riders instead of other dragons. Also will a rider less dragon continue to fight if their rider is killed?
Given how vhagar reacted when attacked, if they are hit indirectly they would probably still be pissed and even more so there rider is dead.
So yeah they would still fight, probably even harder tbh
SPOILER
Tessarion still fights after Daeron is killed, so probably. However, Silverwing kinda just flies off. So it probably depends on how connected they are to their rider's motivations and desires. Or just their riders themselves. Some dragons grieve certain riders more than others.
Rhaenyra’s mom is an Arryn not a Tully. Cannibal is small than Vhagar and Vermithor. The dragon Daemon sings to Is Vermithor, the episode subtitles literally confirm it
He got about 14 other things wrong too lol. Said Drogon was bigger than Syrax. WRONG. Also said Syrax was as big as Maeleys
I appreciate TF out of this video. Its Cliff Notes for non-nerds like myself. Thanks for helping me better understand wtf is going on with this show! 🤝
Haven’t read the book in quite a while. Thanks for putting me up to speed again I forgot a bit of that
What always annoyed me is that alicent always argued that it was surprising that rhaneyras kids eggs hatched. She made it sound like only true Targaryens could hatch a dragon, never mind claim one, yet halaena aegon and aemonds eggs did not hatch yet she claims her kids are true born Targaryens
Imma need everyone to remember the d in Aemond’s name. He’s an analogue to Daemon which is apparent in their names. They’re both demons of their families. There are other Aemons in the Targaryen family like the maester of the Night’s Watch.
I come for commentary on my favorite shows and movies. I stay for Doug's commentary.
Best dragon history lesson ever! Thank you! Bad ass! Bring on Cannibal !!!
I need to file a claim but here I am learning about fictional dragons 😂
Caraxes is the best Dragon hands down. Can't wait to see him fight.
Ditto! Me too mate me too!!!!
Cool. Nice to have it all figured out now. Friggin' Vhagar looks like a monitor lizard or a hila monster.... super scary! Great job making them all so different. HOD is slammin'
oh my god this breakdown was exactly what i needed in my life lol
It feels like you guys didn't do any research on this video.
0:55 The largest dragon IS Vaghar after the death of Balerion.
2:55 Theres 3 Valyerian houses in Westeros. House Celtigar is the one you didn't mention.
Yes, where is the info about the Cannibal being the biggest dragon coming from?
I'm not sure if it was speculative or theory but I remember seeing several videos talking about black scales and dragon size. If the cannibal has lived free his whole life and was black scaled (the supposed rarest and largest dragons are black scales) he technically could rival vhagar in size. Maybe not exceed. But rival. Enough so that her size doesn't matter. Can reference or remember but there are tons of videos out there
@@pv8402 That makes more sense now, someone just misinterpreted a line about Cannibal being "largest of the wild dragons"
Honestly it could be Vhagar or the Cannibal, there are conflicting reports about the cannibal, some said it's the largest while others put him at a more Vermithor-like size. Also I don't blame him for forgetting House Celtigar I mean cmon they're such a small part of the lore.
@@carterharbert3633 I read that Cannibal's actual size is a bit unsure. a lot of "some people say". But it's age is unknown. some say he was born during Maelor's reign. some talk about Jaeherys's, Some even say he was on Dragonstone before The Targaryens even showed, which would potentially make him older than Balerion (and would explain why he was never tamed, or had an aversion for other dragons). Add the fact that most people that ever got close to the beast didn't live to tell the tale, we end up with no accurate measurement. So one can only speculate. But if he was really the ultra old black scaled dragon that is described by some, coupled with the fact that he was always free, and never kept in a pit... I mean he could be bigger. who knows
They were bred from sothoryos wyverns and valyrian fire wyrms.
“Don’t worry there won’t be any spoilers”
Shows the most cathartic scene the first second of the video
thanks you reeeeealllly much for the biggest spoil right at the begenning what a beautiful idea
I would LOVE to see The Cannibal make an appearance in the show!
is he really bigger than balerion & vhagar
@@ngin98 no. These idiots at screen crush don’t do their research properly. Idk why they haven’t been fired. He’s the biggest of the WILD untamed dragons. Not THE biggest of all. Idk where they pulled this bs
@@ngin98 maybe bigger than vhagar but not balerion
@@ngin98 No, he isnt. He is known as the biggest of the wild dragons, not the biggest of all dragons.
@@gamer_geek2638 Not bigger than Vhagar either.
this House Celtigar erasure will not stand! 🦀🦀🦀
This is the BEST video ever!! Waiting for the Blue Queen but I’m sure she won’t be in the show😢
