    Never played any of theses games. Would this be a good jumping on point in the series?

    • @BacklogBattle

      Yep! This is a self contained game so you’re good to go. I recommend watching it again if you are!

      Definitely. They have good characters, superb story and music and is a perfect introduction to the series, with some modern touches in the investigation and trial sections.

      I think this would be a great place to start. That said, I’d like to add a small caveat: if you get through both of these games and want to check out the rest of the series, the original Phoenix Wright trilogy may feel like quite a step down in terms of both graphics and general gameplay. But don’t let that discourage you! The first three games are still fantastic (ESPECIALLY Trials and Tribulations), and after you get past those and the highly underrated Apollo Justice, then Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice will feel more like more familiar territory, being closer in line with these two. While I haven’t yet started these two new games yet, I am a veteran of the main series, and each one of the games is worth playing IMO.

    Wonderful review! You've really said all the things that I love about the AA games. Currently on Case 4 of the first game and I'm really loving it so far. Personally, I do think that the story beats are similar to the PW trilogy but GAA manages to make it completely different and the cast are all amazing to interact with!

    While I'm not super far into the game yet, I am absolutely loving GAA thus far! The presentation is the best the series has seen, and the style and panache of the deduction scenes is an absolute treat.
    I feel like these are going to be games I'm going to be revisiting again and again, just like the original trilogy

    I got this in the mail yesterday! I’ve been playing Neo: The World Ends With You, and I still haven’t gotten around to finishing Spirit of Justice, so I’m holding myself back from starting it just yet. However, I’m leaving town for a week with the family and bringing my PS4 just wouldn’t be practical, so I’ll be taking Ace Attorney along then :) It’s so exciting getting not only one but TWO new Ace Attorney games over here after such a long drought! I’m so excited! And here’s hoping this pushes Capcom to fast-track Ace Attorney 7 :D

      @@BacklogBattle Awesome! I really hope you like it. I’m still not terrible far into it yet, but so far for me, it’s a more than worthy successor to the original. I love the characters, and the gameplay has been expanded on so much that is kinda makes the first game seem too simple by comparison. All the new gameplay features feel right at home, so much so that I’ve been neglecting the story to grind out a whole bunch of side content lol

    I also just wanted to comment on the fact that the main character’s name is “Naruhodo”. I love the puns in these games so much lol. I’m glad they didn’t change his name during localization; it matches the idea of him coming from Japan and bringing his skills and intellect over to the west.
    (For those wondering, なるほど “naruhodo” basically means like “ah, I see…” as someone might typically say in response to a person explaining something to them or upon observing something interesting.)

    • @Road_to_Dawn
      @Road_to_Dawn Před 2 lety +1

      I didn’t get around to Ace Attorney for a long while, myself. I started with Zero Escape, and then I played Danganronpa off the recommendation of an acquaintance. After hearing for so long about how Ace Attorney is like Danganronpa, just without the hyperviolence and killing games, I finally bought the trilogy off the 3DS e-shop (it’s also available on PS4 now too if that’s your jam). I’ve since torn through almost the entire main series and I’m now a huge fan of all three - Zero Escape, Danganronpa, and Ace Attorney. Highly recommend!
      If you find yourself enjoying the series, I also have to mention Murder by Numbers (a game Alex also reviewed on this channel a while back). It’s very similar to Ace Attorney in structure, except instead of trials, it has picross puzzles throughout each chapter.
