That whole “wake up at 4 am to become a billionaire” feels like a billionaire wrote it so that his workers would get up earlier to work more hours for them and tricking them into thinking that if they work harder they’ll have a chance to become like them
This is the worst logic I've ever heard how does waking up earlier make it so you have to work more, the only thing it does is give you more free time to do things you want to do. Not like your boss is going to find out you started waking up early and shift all your schedules and give you longer hours lol.
I don’t think a single individual has ever thought they will become a billionaire working a modern day slavery job. If they do then they deserve to be there
The only reason you should want to work in a modern day slavery job is to accumulate more money that you can spend on a business or something else that will grant you a huge amount of money that will launch you to prosperity. That's what I'm doing right now, I have around 5000 dollars, gonna get some more soon.
My biggest pet peeve is when the guru has a degree in what they’re trying to teach but then tells people degrees are scams and they can become wealthy with 6 months of experience and no degree.
@@p0intblAnkwaziT yeah but most of the time they’re in tech because of a tech degree and then say others can get a job with no experience when they know it’s hard to pass interviews and it’s unlikely to get a job with just boot camp. But yeah some degrees can end up being worthless.
@@epicswirl A lot of degrees can end up being useless ESPECIALLY if you take a military route and especially in the US Tech is one of the few things I'd say where you absolutely need a degree to get hired by someone obviously you can do solo stuff but it ain't reliable
Theirs only some degrees that are actually worth it so I agree to an extent that college is worthless for things, especially now when stuff like trade schools and apprenticeships are so much more valuable than a degree imo.Though telling people not to go is stupid, people should look at their options and see whether college will be worth it for them.
I happened to meet one of these guys who sells dating self-help courses, and he fully admitted that 1) his target audience are mostly desperate men who will do anything to get a partner, and 2) that the most committed people in his audience are willing to REGULARLY pay him an absurd amount of money for years on end. The guy knew exactly what he was doing
fun fact: the thing about the guts being some sort of a second brain is actually true. our gut bacteria can influence our brain and vice versa. that's why having a good diet has been shown to improve mood and mental conditions, as much as your mental state can influence appetite and digestion. there is a connection there and it's fascinating. researchers are trying to find out how it all works
Yep, the ENS, or the 'second brain' as some people call it, isn't really a thinking brain, more of a regulatory one. Some body functions, like the heart, operate independently of the brain, and some, like the ENS., operate in conjunction with the brain. It's not that much of a read if you want to get to know about it, but people calling it the 'second brain' really muddles the water with misinformation.
@@StorymasterQ yep! you explained way better than me ahah indeed people get the wrong idea about it and are skeptical from the start, when it is a well documented fenomenon. SciShow made a nice video about it too, anyone who's curious should check it out:D

My mother's been stuck watching these people for the last couple of years now, the 'self-help' corner of CZcams that actively encourage people to sit on their asses and think wishing hard enough'll make Cosmo and Wanda fly out of the grassy knoll and make all their wishes come true. For the last couple of years I lived with her while I was still in high school, she was completely indoctrinated. It didn't matter who I watched, Charlie here, the AVGN, The Autarch of Flame, an old "top ten" CZcamsr I used to catch back in the day, they were all "the cussing guy" and I was "wasting my time" watching them. All this, while she watched almost daily uploads from the likes of Grant Cardone and Gary Vee, thinking she was a "hustler" for watching those crooks whilst actively having *no* cashflow or job. As far as my knowledge, she's still homeless. I blame it all on these things. These semi-human shapes that actively encourage people to mindlessly listen to everything they hear and prey on their good natures. I hope they never take a comfortable dump again in their entire lives, I hope everything they eat magically starts tasting like orange juice and toothpaste Words cannot describe how much I hate these people for ruining my mother. She was never a saint, hell, I doubt she was ever truly 'sane,' but at least she wasn't peddling MLM horseshit to her own son.
I never realized people took the “sigma grindset” meme seriously, I know people had to be like that to make the joke to begin with but I’ve seen people who laugh at it turn into it
As someone who used to fall into these traps I can say this: These people are going through extremely hard times in their lives and just want something that can get them out. These videos are easy ways to consume content that make you feel like you're making progress while in reality it's doing nothing. it's an easy escape, and it's sad to see.
Yeah...sad as it is, everyone can fall victim to a scam, provided they're in a difficult enough situation. No matter how familiar you are with a scam, no matter how intelligent and wary you are, all it takes is a really bad day.
I became estranged from one of my best friends because, at least in part, "self help" turned him into a hard to deal with person. At first it was just kind of weird when he started talking about the "law of attraction" and how he definitely manifested something entirely out of his control. Then he read some book about how you yourself are your own authority when covid hit, which led him into covid denialism and the whole plethora of conspiracy theories. Now nothing is real anymore and whatever happens to you is without question your own fault.
Self help gurus aren't lying when they say that listening to them will generate success, generate a better life... it just generates a better life for the guru, not the listener.
I will say that there are genuine people that teach solid advice on what they know, but they aren’t really considered ‘gurus’. They will tell you that you have to do your own work and that there is no shortcut or magic pill to get rich. It goes to show that one has to be careful when going into this field because there are scammers trying to take advantage of it
The secret to become a billionaire : 1. Having a rich family. 2. Being narcissistic and/or a psychopath. 3. Steal ideas from others and act like they are yours. 4. Lie to people. Oh shit! I think I accidentally wrote Elon Musk's biography... 😂

Affirmations aren’t a bad thing. People just misuse them. They think they’re magic words that will grant every last one of your dreams. Affirmations are so that you can nourish your brain with a certain type of mindset. If you’re insecure about how you look, if you consistently try to tell yourself that you are in fact good looking and that you have good qualities, you will eventually actually believe it. In turn it will make you more confident and so on… I must say though, a lot of what Charlie showed in this video is bullshit lol but not all affirmations are bad and you need to understand that they’re not magic. It’s you reassuring yourself, that’s all.
I think there’s a difference between real and positive affirmation and what these kinds of guru channels are doing. The guru channels are profiting off of taking advantage of the IDEA of affirmations instead of actually trying to promote real affirmations and it’s gross. Channels that actually support the affirmations in a positive way, though, are doing good for people and should keep it up
Maybe it's better to accept you're ugly in that case. It's fine, not everyone can be pretty. I'm not that pretty and still happy and proud of myself for having other strengths. It's better than avoiding mirrors and try to change self perception through lies and delusion...
As for the sleep thing: some people are literally genetically predisposed to staying awake late, and waking up later. Literally, their brains are hardwired to sleep at different times. Trying to go to bed at 10 PM will not work for some people, because their natural circadian rhythm will not allow for it. I assume this comes from early caveman days where it would behoove a bunch of people to not sleep during peek predator hunting hours. Having someone up around 1 AM when there's a tiger attack would really help a lot to alert the group of danger as opposed to just waking up getting massacred.
@@bobobsen changing your circadian rhythm to 10pm in a different timezone is different to changing your rhythm from 8pm to 10pm in the same timezone because it's relative to the sun
I love how their metric for success is being a billionaire. As if most billionaires' stories aren't just "I was born to a family worth hundreds of millions and I invested it".
This. Exactly this. I think the problem is just that people just really are so disconnected by income inequality that they truly don't understand how much easier they have it than the average fella.
Or worse - they inherited a business and started doing shady shit to screw everyone else over. I trust billionaires and trillionaires the least. They are all criminals and they get away with it through lobbying.
My boyfriend's dad listens to this stuff everyday and calls it his therapy. He loves to tell me that this is way more useful than what I do as an actual clinical psychologist 😂
Don't you love it when you're getting a scientific degree and some 50 year old who never even heard of the scientific method and believes in homeopathy calls all your knowledge bullshit?
i like how "early to bed early to rise" is considered "the grind" when there are so many people who have no real choice but to work 2nd and 3rd shift jobs
What I always hate about those "exhale and visualize the negativity/anxiety/whatever leaving your body" exercises is that my overly-literal, autistic, anxious brain will then visualize the negativity sort of hanging around my head as a cloud and failing to dissipate, until I end up breathing it back in. I have no idea why my brain does this when trying to visualize this scenario.
After listening to these exercises for 10 minutes and 46 seconds I've doubled my income to an incredible 20 dollars, doubled the size of my cardboard box, and moved into a new, bougier part of the city in a scenic alleyway that contains only 3 violent crimes at any given time. Thank you Charlie, truly you are the greatest self help guru of all.
I'm so happy to hear that man I'm currently living out of the attic of a McDonalds instead of the bathroom of a taco bell so this video definitely helped me to!
I love Charlie for using his platform and huge view counts to educate people to stay away from all those bullshit channels that just brainwash you into paying them money
We really need to start teaching people that before they waste money they should spend 5 minutes doing research as if you can find a forum talking about it you can quickly get real people giving honest responses about it so you can know if its a scam or not since so many people just mindlessly trust ads/reviews/articles which are just filled with lies, misinformation and fake reviews

Being disabled, I haven't been able to work in 7 months. But I woke up at 4am today and went mega mind Lucy 100% brain mode watching this guru. I am now a billionaire on my yacht in the Hollywood Hills with my Gucci Leather wrapped Lambo waiting at home for me. Thanks CZcams guru!
I dunno, I went from sit wiping to stand wiping because my sausage ends up touching the bowl when I sit wipe (ew.) and my ass also got phat af so reaching around without absolutely saturating my front tail on the bowl became impossible. I just can't be dealing with a dirty dick, man.
Honestly it’s the same mindset as “manifesting weight loss”/taking a “miracle weight loss pill”. People wanna put minimum effort forth into doing something they want, while still acting like they’re doing. Then it becomes “I’m not manifesting hard enough” rather than “I’m not working hard enough/I’m not at a job that pays me enough” or anything out of their control. They want to put minimal effort forth while still being able to feel like they were doing SOMETHING rather than nothing.
CZcams gurus ignite the most passionate, unhealthy rage in me. Idk if it’s the self righteousness, or the fake toxic positivity. Maybe it’s the suffocating narcissism. Either way, they’re one of the worst breeds of humans.
I guess sometimes it depends on which one it is for me. Like I heard of a few that actually give good advice, like changing your mindset and working on raising your productivity levels, etc. The "this billionaire's routine is scientifically proven to attract more money towards you" videos do make me want to wake up at 4AM and beat up the video maker tbh

I recommend looking into Tony Robbins. His seminars cost thousands while a “platinum membership” costs tens of thousands per year. Workers are mostly volunteers and there are even youth seminars. His seminars are known to be 10+ hours long a day. On top of this there is a lack of breaks, purposely freezing rooms, and a constant level of high-energy intensity that is meant to “break you down to build you up”. At some people walk on hot coals at the end of his workshops. He has a Netflix special called “I’m Not Your Guru”. He takes self help to an extreme. Growing up with his teachings as rules made for an interesting childhood.
I remember this guy who talks about how he had to scrap by with money and worked a part time job as an adult while studying to be an anesthesiologist using only 2 textbooks. This hits too close to home, it made me pretty fucking sad. I live with my aunt in pretty vulnerable conditions - complicated history with parents, and my angel of a grandmother passed away 7 years ago, she'd taken care of me my whole life til that point - and she listens to this mantra, and has listened, on speakers while she works her independent knitting job, for the last 3-4 years or so... It's some bullshit that's titled "manifest your success, clean away all negative karma and make money" that just keeps repeating "I love you, I'm sorry, I'm grateful". It's honestly gotten sickening to hear it from afar or have to listen to it when I go check on her or she asks for water or such. It strikes me with grief, to a certain extent, because obviously it hasn't worked, our life just worsens and worsens with debt. She also pays for card readers, "money making incense rods" and all of this nonsense
Also, just a bit of actual personal advice, don't feel the need to wake up early at 4 am each day. After waking up early for hospital work, there's nothing wrong with embracing a good nice sleep and waking up at 7am or 9 am. Hell, enjoy the gift of not having to wake up super early. There's more diminishing returns from waking up super early.
There’s also no point, there’s no difference in doing a 9 hour work shift starting at 4 a.m or 8 a.m. cuz you still gonna put in the 9 hours and have the free time afterwards depending on the time you go to bed. Whether you stay up all night and wake up at 9 or go to bed really early and wake up at 4. It’s like paying a product that costs a $100 with a $100 bill or two $50 bills, makes no difference.
That "second brain" thing is actual kind of true, but in a way completely differently than how that weird guy is explaining it. Basically, the microbiome of bacteria, flora, and other microorganisms in your intestines can strongly influence your behavior in a way that some scientists have called your "second brain." The stuff you eat changes your gut biome, which drives you to desire the same food.
I've also seen the argument of when you have a gut feeling about something being used as a second brain explanation. Your way of explaining it actually makes a lot of sense
@@javabean4383 That actually has another source which is also really fascinating! See, before the theory of mind, people didn't know that the brain was where your thoughts came from. They thought they came from your internal organs, like your spleen, your gallbladder, and yes, your stomach. So any emotions that come from that part of your body are "gut feelings."
@@lockerbuddy2039 The rest of your body follows your brain's lead. The microbiome is unique in that it can also "lead," so to speak. At least that's how I understand it. But also... I think the cultures on your skin might also count.
I feel this is an expansive topic as there are other places where you can see people employing advertising tactics that prey on people's insecurities. For instance, smart phone mobile games. You will see their ads all over social media, and it's the same marketing tactic. They show you someone failing miserably at a simple game, and they usually suggest you have an enormous IQ if you can beat their simple puzzle. Sometimes the game or puzzle they're showing you is not even the game/puzzle you will see upon starting up the game, so it's usually false advertising. This tactic basically takes advantage of people who are very anxious about their intelligence. Why social media platforms do nothing about this is mystified for me.
Huh, I never looked at it from that lens. It actually makes a lot of sense when you look at these "200 IQ" ads from this perspective of intellectual insecurity.

The most helpful guru I have ever had any useful info on how to become more successful said all you need to do is do a few basic things: 1: Cut down your social media use and limit your screen time. (This is HUGE. You waste more time in a passive state doing nothing and being an ineffective, useless mound of flesh than you realize doing this, when you could be doing something much more fulfilling.) 2: Clean yourself up; eat healthy, stay hydrated, shower regularly, be active at least a little bit each day and make sure you get enough consecutive hours of sleep to replenish your serotonin. 3: Read 3 books on any subject. Take notes, really absorb the information in them and you'll become more of an expert on that subject than 95% of the population. The other 5% are reading 3 or more books on that same topic. 4: Exercise self-control. Make conscious decisions and do nothing on autopilot. Get used to thinking "Yes, I will do this" or "No, I will not do this" and then command yourself to follow through on your decision until you do it. 5: Create and maintain a routine. Do things at the same time every day; set alarms if you have to in order to make sure you do not miss the time to do what you decided to do. That's all you need to do. They're simple things that help you *find* the time to do the things you want to do. I have done none of these and am still useless, fat, dehydrated and unproductive, so maybe that's why I'm still poor. That or runaway inflation. Probably the former though.
I won’t get into my whole traumatic experience in a comment section, however, I want to say that this goes hand in hand with life coaching and even therapy sometimes. Quite culty indeed. My former life coach believes and follows a lot of these new age, empty platitude, nothing burger communities about “high vibes” and needless to say, I’m glad I’m no longer in that bubble of consciousness. Thanks for covering this one it’s a doozy
When my wife left me over a year ago now I was destroyed and felt like I lost everything. The desperation to win her back lead me to those guru guys and their CZcams channels. Not only them, but also people like "Marriage helper" and all those others phonies that go "We developed a system that will allow us to determine if this can be saved" Look, if you want to be more attractive, or you want people to notice you the best thing you can do is work on yourself. Yes the gym will not only make you look better, but you will start to feel amazing, and that confidence that grows within you starts to radiate off of you making you more attractive. Also pursuing new hobbies, and building new relationships or even building a stronger connecting with those who you know will help build character, and strengthen your worth. Don't ever fall for those guru scams who takes advantage of those who feel weak. They are terrible people who only want your money.
You don't even need the gym - people will use the (fairly legitimate) excuse that it's too expensive. Just go running. You need shoes, shorts and a shirt. Buy a set of dumbbells and pick them up and put them down when watching TV. Diet makes a massive difference to wellbeing too. Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. It sounds like advice you give to kids but it genuinely helps.
As someone who was groomed by those self help guru society, im glad i got out, They do more harm then good, ruin your self confidence and life it was because of a low depression i got out of it but Im glad they are more getting exposed.

I'm someone who uses affirmations and manifestations and it's wonderful for things like building confidence and self love since you're constantly reaffirming those qualities in your head, but I do have to agree- Charging people to buy products or to listen to those subliminals is pure scummy greed
I agree, those kinds of people give actual self help and metaphysical teachers a bad name, fundamentally it's all about learning how to be more positive and react in different ways than you might have been conditioned too. You would be far better off reading works by people like Deepak Chopra or Eckhart Tolle, people who have researched and understand the more Eastern style metaphysical practices which have existed for thousands of years instead of listening to these hacky guru's on yt just trying to get rich by taking advantage of people.
The subliminal stuff and the community of teens and preteens is an interesting phenomenon in itself. They’re pretty harmless on their side of the internet, but their ardent defense of how it works, always touting how science/some government document backs it up, but always unable to direct anyone to said proof is weirdddd. At least when people follow religion, they know that the basis of it is faith and interpretation of whatever their sacred text is.
@@Mcdigits I don't recommend Deepak Chopra, he really just speaks quantum mysticism and incorrectly uses scientific terms. I haven't really looked much into what metaphysical teachers teach, but I believe that if somebody is going to be providing metaphysical advice, it should not misuse terms and concepts solely meant for scientific use only.
I mean, if somebody doesn't really give af about science and just cares about their mental health and spirituality, then sure you can do what you want I guess. As long as they aren't influencing others with this kind of stuff.
Its so funny how these channels refer to "billionaires" like they're this other species with completely different capabilities that the "lesser" races can only hope to ascend to by emulating their example, wealth worship like this is just absolutely toxic and feeds into a strange disparity between classes that almost justifies mistreatment and exploitation of the poor by the rich, worse still, the people consuming this content are usually not in the best state financially, so this stuff is pretty much being marketed to the very same people it is dehumanizing and deeming inferior. Now ain't that something?
Spot on. I never trust those self-care gurus that just defend status quo like it's unchangeable but then force toxic positivity onto those vulnerable ppl without room for them to question it. Like I saw a "mental health advice" in an app that tells you basically to get rid of negative feelings like feeling like you're being underpaid by your boss. The bigger faces of self-care gurus are untrustworthy bc they do not really do this stuff out of care for ppl they just want to prey on the vulnerable to stack some paper. The ones who are legit tend to run their own free blogs and ressources for everyone to share.

That's what I'm doing right now, I have around 5000 dollars, gonna get some more soon.

Theirs only some degrees that are actually worth it so I agree to an extent that college is worthless for things, especially now when stuff like trade schools and apprenticeships are so much more valuable than a degree imo.Though telling people not to go is stupid, people should look at their options and see whether college will be worth it for them.

fun fact: the thing about the guts being some sort of a second brain is actually true. our gut bacteria can influence our brain and vice versa. that's why having a good diet has been shown to improve mood and mental conditions, as much as your mental state can influence appetite and digestion. there is a connection there and it's fascinating. researchers are trying to find out how it all works

For the last couple of years I lived with her while I was still in high school, she was completely indoctrinated.

Nice try, secret gate keeping billionaire
That "second brain" thing is actual kind of true, but in a way completely differently than how that weird guy is explaining it. Basically, the microbiome of bacteria, flora, and other microorganisms in your intestines can strongly influence your behavior in a way that some scientists have called your "second brain." The stuff you eat changes your gut biome, which drives you to desire the same food.
I've also seen the argument of when you have a gut feeling about something being used as a second brain explanation. Your way of explaining it actually makes a lot of sense
But would that really be a "brain"? In that case, literally every part of your body can be your second brain, no?
@@javabean4383 That actually has another source which is also really fascinating! See, before the theory of mind, people didn't know that the brain was where your thoughts came from. They thought they came from your internal organs, like your spleen, your gallbladder, and yes, your stomach. So any emotions that come from that part of your body are "gut feelings."
@@lockerbuddy2039 The rest of your body follows your brain's lead. The microbiome is unique in that it can also "lead," so to speak. At least that's how I understand it. But also... I think the cultures on your skin might also count.

I immediately got an ad after this video that said “here’s to the ones who work smarter, not harder...”

The most helpful guru I have ever had any useful info on how to become more successful said all you need to do is do a few basic things:
1: Cut down your social media use and limit your screen time. (This is HUGE. You waste more time in a passive state doing nothing and being an ineffective, useless mound of flesh than you realize doing this, when you could be doing something much more fulfilling.)
2: Clean yourself up; eat healthy, stay hydrated, shower regularly, be active at least a little bit each day and make sure you get enough consecutive hours of sleep to replenish your serotonin.
Thanks for covering this one it’s a doozy
When my wife left me over a year ago now I was destroyed and felt like I lost everything. The desperation to win her back lead me to those guru guys and their CZcams channels. Look, if you want to be more attractive, or you want people to notice you the best thing you can do is work on yourself.
Thank you mister cupcake

As someone who was groomed by those self help guru society, im glad i got out,
They do more harm then good, ruin your self confidence and life
it was because of a low depression i got out of it but Im glad they are more getting exposed.
I actually fell for one of these when I was younger, it was a how to be a popular CZcamsr, most I got out of it was have good lighting, years later I’m still getting newsletters even. Tho I canceled
I bought one worth $1,500 of these because at that time i was depressed while failing college and thought if i got this product maybe i could succeed in life. The sad truth was that they do not help you and are just there for your money…
I hope you are better now
I'm someone who uses affirmations and manifestations and it's wonderful for things like building confidence and self love since you're constantly reaffirming those qualities in your head, but I do have to agree- Charging people to buy products or to listen to those subliminals is pure scummy greed

The way you know something wants to help you, is when it’s not expensive and someone else you know doesn’t look at it like it’s complete crap.

am I the only one who thought that the dark cloud was fart?

Truly despicable.

From my own personal experience I used to be part of the “guru” community and I didn’t realize how much of a toxic environment I was putting myself. I was listening to these so called billionaires for advice but I ended up just burning out or breaking down emotionally. Yes, some things they say is very useful but most of it is just bullshit meant to make you feel like you aren’t doing enough. You are doing enough. These guru channels try to make you look at yourself and judge yourself but at the same time tell you not to. Just be yourself. And take advice from people who are actually credible.
Edit: then again I’m a stranger you don’t know and I’m not credible. So take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

Just a pro tip: Enteric nervous system is actually called a second brain because it's derived from the same kind of cells that makes the brain.

My grandfather used to wake up at 4:00 a.m. he used to say "It's nice and quiet no one's up you could do whatever you want the roads are all clear so there's no traffic and the bakery opens so you can get fresh bread without waiting online" there's more to his monologue monologue but I don't remember the rest of it.
I love how I got an ad about becoming rich and how I’m stuck and the only way to fix it is to buy something
Its so sad how these enforce people to generate false realities about themselves.
The first step to solving a problem is recognizing that there is one, and these do the exact opposite of that.
I woke up at 4am once and achieved my dream! That dream involved going back to sleep to wake up at a more reasonable hour and doing the stuff I planned to do that day.
That stretch actually feels good though, especially at 4am when your just waking up from a deep slumber and have to go work that job you don't even like.
The gurus are getting out of control. I even recently saw a guru pyramid scheme - he teaches you to become a guru that teaches other people to become gurus.
I see this a lot in fitness. A fitness personal trainer guru, who’s gonna teach fellow personal trainers how to maximise and get more clients, through social media and other influencer ‘techniques.’
