    I wish I had found this video (and the comments) before I ordered my new stereo -- this is my first time doing this and I didn't realize that I needed to buy a wire harness. (It was kind of glossed over in the video but I finally put two and two together when I watched it a second time and read through the comments. :D) Thanks so much for putting this together, it's really helpful!

      George I did it! thanks again. only issue I had was that the brakets didn't fit on my after market stereo, I need a kit to be able to use the brakets other than that everything works perfect.

      +Casey Niederhauser You are welcome, I learned a lot from youtube. I have done this many times and still doing it on my cars. you save a bundle of money with DIY.

    Note: You can buy the Harness specific to your car from ebay or amazon, and there will be extra wires depending on the options you may or may not have (i.e. power antenna) that you just leave alone if not matched. This applies to any stereo alpine or a different brand and to any car corolla or anything else, as long as you have the correct car specific harness. I have done it at least 8 times including navigation units, same process.

    Thanks for the video. i did matched same colors with new stereo to adapter wires but when i tried to plug in this adapter the wires are different with the car wires (like in video 14:50 you were connecting wires these are different as of the adapter wires ).

    • @GeorgeB1959
      @GeorgeB1959  Před 5 lety +1

      Sree g : some wires will not match, do not connect these. They are for things like power antenna where you may not have this option and so on. If wire colors don’t match, don’t connect them. Thank you.

    Hey, I am going to attempt to install a radio in my 2001 Corolla. My car did not have a radio when I purchased it, so I have to get the radio brackets from a used parts place or from Toyota. Now, I'm also realizing that I don't have a wiring harness in the car, there are just a group of bundled wires with scotch tape at the ends. What should I do? Take it to a professional? Or can I buy an additional wiring harness that connects to those wires?
    P.S. I've already purchased a wiring harness, ties, and krimp caps. And I had a kit, but I realized I didn't need it after watching this video.

    • @GeorgeB1959
      @GeorgeB1959  Před 10 lety +1

      Tesfa Ayana Hi, you need to connect the wiring harness you purchased to the new stereo, then those plugged end into the car plugs. I am sure what you found bundled is the car stereo wiring. it just never had radio but wiring exits ( I'm almost sure). you can do this your self, it really easy, just color match the wires. the results will be thrilling.

      @tesfaayana1725 Před 10 lety

      I went to an auto part salvage store and got them to cut the connectors out of one of their Corollas. Hopefully, those can be wired to the wires in the dash. However they only gave me two connectors, I don't have 3 like whats shown in your video.

    • @tesfaayana1725
      @tesfaayana1725 Před 10 lety

      I almost paid a stereo installation place to do it, but they said $118 for everything and $50 just to wire the salvaged connectors to the wires in the car. I'm just going to see if my brother can do everything for free on Thurs.

    • @GeorgeB1959
      @GeorgeB1959  Před 10 lety

      Tesfa Ayana I guess it gets more intense if you don't even have the connectors. I hope you have speakers.
