      @@lyndonp6296 That's a 6A4 diod... it's common diod that comes in at 6 amps at 400 volts... that's a 2,400 watt diode. It will survive that little 6v battery ... it's there for back flow protection to keep the battery from heating up... it's still a super unsafe build, but the diod definitely didn't fuze... in fact diodes can't fuze into a conductor because of how there constructed... it would glow red hot, let out it's 'magic smoke' and loose it's conductive properties then the glow would go out and it would just be a dead diod. If your lucky it happens fast enough that the thermal expansion causes a miniature explosion, but usually it's not that spectacular when a diode fails though... usually it's just glow, smoke, fizzle, dead all in the course of about a second (a really long time in electronics).

      No he won't, it will just melt... at worse we're looking at fire with battery acid and molten plastic spilling out across the table ... in a really really rare type of diode failure he may get a small pop from the diode... but that's a 6a4 diode ... it's rated for 6 amps at 400 volts DC so that's 2,400 watts... the dioed would out last that battery... but he configured it wrong for backwards voltage protection so the battery is likely to melt... though he'll probably notice before fire starts... it's going to start warming the plastic by the terminals first and as the plastic gets soft things will begin to shift and he'll see that his terminal is say 8 mm from where it belongs and then realize he's melting the battery. That's the most likely outcome ... but kaboom has my vote... that would be way cooler.

      It seem to be good enough for certain jobs, especially if a guy already has all the components laying around like this guy typing this comment. I have a specific task is why I'm watching a few videos, the easier and more inexpensive way I can achieve my objective is what I'm looking for. I have a $10 u.s item that I would like to repair so it don't make sense to spend $30 on the circuit board and whatever else to achieve the same results in my case. I'd be happy to return to comments when finished and give a honest review of my success or failure. If anyone would be interested in honest opinion of how this performs on everyday materials? I'm not a welder or an electrician and have very very limited knowledge how electrical currents flow. The easier it is to comprehend and implement the better for a lot of people who don't have the knowledge of electrical currents and how they work and what components you need to build more sophisticated devices. Im just a regular Joe that turns to smarter people then myself i. e CZcams for ideas to aide me along. To criticize an idea just because you have a more elaborate sophisticated way to achieve near same results. Well post your CZcams video and maybe the way you suggested would be better. But is it more practical for everyone or only a one time use? Keep on keeping on fellas all these diy vids are great. And I'm sure they help tons of people..

    What is the diode? Since it is DC, the current can only flow in one direction anyway!
    Wofür ist die Diode? Da es Gleichspannung ist, kann der Strom sowieso nur in eine Richtung fließen!

    Soldering a wire that will heat up to hundreds of degrees Celsius? Note how the timber handle is brown from the heat... releasing all those toxic fumes from the burning epoxy. This a children school project that should be supervised and then disposed of by a responsible adult. But with millions of views the clever creator is enjoying the $$$ of his effort

    There is no role of rectifier. As evident he in his final demo used it without diode. I think he added diode to fool us.
    More over using battery in this way may explode. There is better way to do it instead of diode add a 2.2-5 Ohm /10 watt
    resistor and at the out put add enough capacitors of 16V ratings.
    Any one can comment on my suggestion. Thanks

    Just use jumper cables and put thick copper wires in the end or use nails. Simple

    • @Quickened1
      @Quickened1 Před 2 lety

      @@jeffcantley9203 that's because the resistor is the point of highest resistance! Just like the probes touching the metal is the point of highest resistence, therefore the wires don't melt first...

    • @DiffEQ
      @DiffEQ Před 2 lety +1

      @@Quickened1 Just like the path of least resistance is not the only path for current, the highest resistance is not the only resistance. Considering the large currents in this ridiculous "spot welder", Sourav has made a correct observation. In every case, the connections should be mechanically sound before soldering. Solder is not intended to be the current carrier as it's typically 5 to 10 times the resistance of copper, depending on the alloy used, with a much lower melting point than iron, which is about 4 times the resistance of copper.
      The diode that was soldered in place was absurd. Not just because it was soldered in place, but because there is no way that diode is going to handle the current... and since it's missing at the end, it definitely didn't survive. Never mind that is served no purpose.
      THIS is why people who make videos on CZcams are often dangerous. You can be king of the blind with partial sight in one eye and blind in the other.

      @Quickened1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DiffEQ I agree that this device is a joke, and it should only be used in an emergency, life or death situation. I was just stating the reason the solder would likely not melt, and if it did, so would all the insulation and just about everything else. You're right, a lot of dangerous people posting on CZcams...

    He needs to use steel nails for electrode to ensure better resistance than copper. If your voltage can be reduced to 3V then copper is better else battery will get damaged.Good idea though I prefer a 3V source
