I'd be more impressed when someone leaks the youtube recommendation algorithm
Even funnier it explicitly uses humans for certain stuff even which wouldn't quite make sense?
Watch it be rnd.
if clickbait == 1:
recommend_video()
it's quite simple - it's just last 30 viewed videos looped forever
Oh yes, totally agree 👀
CZcams SEO is even worse nowadays I can’t even find what I’m searching for even if I type the title of the video word for word, I still have to scroll down to find the video that I'm looking for.
Has happened to me too. They shadow ban certain creators and you can't even find their channel name if you type it in perfectly
Yeah, ProZD literally released a short video demonstrating how this was the case for his own videos.
I get like a max of 20 results for something i search for then just garbage unrelated content the next 40 videos.
The worst part is when you have to scroll past the "Related Videos" segment that contains results having almost nothing to do with the original search query.
Yes, understanding the algorithm would provide valuable information on how to optimize content for greater exposure. It would be beneficial for content creators and businesses looking to increase their visibility and engagement on the platform. Exploring the intricacies of the algorithm could lead to more effective strategies and ultimately, better results.
Remember like 10 years ago the Netflix recommendations were just spooky accurate guessing exactly what I would like. Then at some point it changed and nothing but Adam Sandler movies or whatever crap they wanted to promote clogged the recommendations and that remarkable feature became useless. Greed is really poison.
yup. I cancelled Netflix years ago, because I was spending more time scrolling looking for something to watch than I was actually watching. The Netflix Originals were good at first, but then they tried to replicate their early successes without understanding what made those shows successful to begin it.
@@y00t00b3r I cancelled more recently, Mostly their tendency to just cancel shows without warning so you cant get invested (Never stopped being mad about the dark crystal). Several anti trans comedy specials in a row, The way its displaced physical media. But I guess over all Im just done with this whole "Everything is a monthly fee and you have no control over anything in your own home" World we are in now and subscription services are a huge part of that.
Promoting authoritive sources is pretty useful. I find spam and linkrot to be much worse issues. The rest is just figuring out how to form your query to convey what your actually looking for.

OP: such a valid point. And it’s a self fulfilling prophecy where that very design does in fact cause the internet to become smaller.

@@rhael42this is so profoundly sad. It’s literally insane how I feel nostalgic about the days where I could efficiently scour the depths of the internet through a simple google search, and fine tuning was only necessary for the truly esoteric shit.
I really hope this environment of web searchability returns… such a shame for younger generations who have only ever known the modern hyper commercialised data-driven state of web searches. I have always been skeptical of chatgpt and other generative AI, but I increasingly find that these bots are much better at delivering search results to a given query. Not because it’s AI, rather because at this stage these chat bots won’t flat out tell you to go fuck yourself and start showing you search results based on literally anything other than your search query. Sorry to break to you, but everyone is disposable. Being angry about getting laid off doesn’t make it right to disclose secrets about a company that helped you put food on the table for however long you were there. Jobs aren’t a guaranteed lifetime paycheck. You’re there as long as the company feels they are benefiting from your work, and when the company no longer feels the benefit is worth the expense you get cut from the team. That’s how it works.

the fact that they exist at all proves that google put their thumb on the scale. Google wants to make sure that they present you not with the links that you want, but the links that they want you to want.
Susceptible 😂 the whole point is to control it in their favor (or whoever pays them).
"seems incredibly susceptible to bias"
That would imply they were implemented for neutral reasons to begin with. Between tech companies being heavily biased to the left and the Twitter Files leaks proving that the U.S. government was in active communications with social media companies over who to ban and what to censor, it's pretty safe to say those parameters were implemented with the intent of bias from the get-go.
Google knows it has the power to influence public opinion, and is more than happy to use it.
Everyone knows that google is heavily censored for years now.
Yeah. The internet was created as a decentralized propaganda tool because people were getting too desensitized to the old quaint TV shows, movies, newspapers, talking heads, et cetera. That's what it is for. Now propaganda seems like organic social opprobrium coming from countless peers, but it's the same narrative-weavers as ever.
Google was not consistently candid with its users.
"...accidentally..."? No. Google does _not_ do something like that "accidentally".
As someone who develops algorithms and systems for information retrieval and recommendations, a lot of the priority around these algorithms that give ranked curations is revenue. The “best†ranking output is the one that has the highest expected value of metrics that will convert directly to profit. This is no surprise at all and unfortunately, it’s a part of development where you realize that all your work is solely for increasing revenue. “Business†logic is just code word for procedures to make sure that you align with senior leadership’s priorities on what they think will generate the most revenue or give potential for upselling. This is why Google went from “interesting content†to “ads galore†and big corporations immediately.
How the algorithm works:
"Pay us more money and we'll put you at the top"
There should be an antitrust filed against the AI summarization as it's very anti-competitive to specifically steal the content of someone's site, and present it as Google's own information while denying the site traffic.
They keep advertising this as the sole reason/new feature of the Pixel 8 (which is stupid to begin with as that's a software feature not a hardware one). I hope that helps the anti-trust you're going to start filing .
In case of a lawsuit, they'll probably give you an option to disable it but that'll mean your site will be "de-prioritised" against those that allow it
AI in general is just theft

... wait, Google uses Elixir? This just means the whole "leak" is bollocks.
I like how i get an ad for Google Workspace after watching this.
I think the Internet, search engines, Internet archives, and social media need to be treated like the public utilities we use them as. They should be nationalized, open source, paid for by tax dollars, and regulated so that they conform to standards like the fucking Constitution when it comes to privacy, free speech, and discrimination. Imagine an Internet funded by tax dollars and free of ads! If you're too young to remember it, there was a brief window of time when the Internet was nearly ad free, and nobody collected all your personal data to sell it back to you as AI and hyper targeted advertising. It was beautiful. There's no good reason to leave this shit up to the engine of capitalism.
So, as trustworthy as our crooked courts and corrupt public institutions? Two sides of the same coin!
Indirect fascist control vs direct fascist control.
Trust me: If it's already being corrupted by companies to be sold to the government, it being under the thumb of the government will be worse.
nationalizing would result in direct government censorship instead of corporate censorship partly at the behest of multiple governments. in other words, same problem we have currently with a different coat of lead paint.
@@xXx_Regulus_xXxat least there wouldn't be adds, right? /s
To what nation do you nationalise global corporations? Sounds terrifying tbh. I’d rather the competition…. But I agree the addfree internet was a golden time!
Thank goodness Google curated who was allowed to lie to us about COVID-19 not coming from a lab
And the election process! So glad about that one mhm

try watching the video instead of using it as white noise.
Oh if only that was the only thing they lied about
As an SEO guru myself, this has made me sad because now, according to Fireship, I can't put good food on my family. 😪
Risking to share that this even happened on their own platforms is wild
0:05 what are you doing in my house?
👉 'I'm feeling lucky ' button
Yeah what even is that?
