As a trumpet player, I thought you guys had it much easier. This isn't as simple as I thought. And my cheek muscles are tired af now.
I'm about a month in, and I retract my statement. Flute is a much easier instrument to blow, but it takes more air control, ie precice air speed and direction. Brass just requires a lot of air pressure behind the mouthpiece which gives me terrible headaches. I'm really starting to fall in love with this instrument.
Weird, I thought they had it harder. We're over here just buzzing our lips meanwhile flute has to literally blow. Just simply try blowing air through your mouth and you'll get a basic understanding

Blimey. 10 minutes ago I got the flute. After watching this video 2 times, I suddenly got a very clear loud sound. Have to wait until my landlady won't be in :))
Genius. I too had been thinking it must be my instrument. I had been getting the low tones but not high. After trying blowing at my hand up and down, magically the high tone happened. Thanks
I tried to blow beer bottle to practice the low and paper edge for high, and now I can try on my palm! Thx :)

Hi very nicely yes heather I am a old guy 66 used to play in grade school swapped to guitar for 12 years never great but competent had a ca wreck now can’t tune it sucks and I miss it so sad but you don’t tune a flute so I just got a c scale one and book so this basic information and a nice presentation are very welcome so I subscribed and I hope things go well for you !

Oh my god I bought a flute and I thought it was broken I couldn't make a single sound till now lol That helped me so much. Though I can't do the high sound for some reason only the low sound.
i have a play tone check in my next music class and i’m sooo nervous because when i first did the long tone check with the whole class i didn’t made a sound and i was struggling and i felt embarrassed but i hope this is gonna help me:)

The sound sounds great, but when I connect the other parts of the flute and play, I still hear the sounds of air being released, especially in the high notes ... and the clicking of the tongue sounds like spitting instead of a delicate T ... What should I do?

This helped a lot except when I blow out of my mount I whistle. But it's not on purpose. I was just thought to whistle by breathing out. Is there any way to fix this
This is a great video! Thank you for making it. My daughter is 7 and she is getting frustrated trying to learn this. She can make some sounds with the head joint but when we put it together she can’t make any notes. I play flute myself but I’ve played since I was 10 myself and I don’t know how to teach her this. She gets so frustrated right away and just wants to give up. Maybe she isn’t old enough?
