I know it’s probably a silly question and I don’t really know how to explain it but how do you get that like vibrating sound while holding a note? Mine always sounds like one constant pitch/note and does not do that vibrating sound... how do you do that?

Just got a flute yesterday, all I gotta say is I personally believe it's harder to play than the (alto/tenor) saxophone, it takes far more air and you can't place your lips on something solid and firmly like a mouthpiece or a reed, props to flute players tbh

Another really helpful excercise is holding notes. You start at a1 and go the chromatic scale down to c1, then from a1 and go the chromatic scale up. Play every note as long and as loud as you can (or as long and as quiet as you can) and breath after every note. It helps you to control your breath duration and tone. Also helps you to figure out exact amount of breath for every note.

Merci beaucoup !

I bought the amazon flute you were talking about and this instrument is really fun to play. Trying to understand the lips position is a challenge I just gave me and the fun fact is that you get better every day so you can't really give up. Well thanks for your nice videos that really make playing flute a fun game :)

Thank you so much for making this video. I recently got the urge to build a flute out of wood after playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3. While trying to cut it down to the proper length to play an A note I realized that I didn't really know how to make a constant sound. After watching your video and a bit of practice I was able to pull it off the same night. Now onto drilling and tuning the finger holes

I have to check my pitch to make sure I am in tune. I know when I am out of tune but need to use a tuner to check. I have a practice place that is not a constant temperature and boy does warm/hot temperatures affect the pitch of the flute. Love your videos always learning, I am working my way up the scale and am now quite confident up to the high b flat but want to get up to the C because when playing a C major scale I don't want to stop at the A or B below it.

For a clear sound, I used go practice in the bathroom, you can hear everything. Eventually I practiced outside, if your delivery and pitch is good the sound resonance carries outside. Too bad I couldn't keep time. You are such an awesome instructor.
