A few simple bits done and you've got over 300 brake from thag engine, same lump as the focus st,

@@jordzz174 Actually the R line V70 2.5T is already 300hp. It has a metal inlet plenum and bigger inter-cooler as standard. As well as tough clutch. With an upgraded exhaust, add bigger injectors and a remap, you are now looking at 400-500hp.
Imagine if someone told him that turbo volvo makes max hp at 5500 rpm 😂.
But 9 times out of 10 most cars still has better acceleration in the lower gears due to the gear ratio, even if they're past their peak power
@@will_on2793 it's not only that, it's that if you shift too early, even if you're past top power, the next gear will take a long time to rev up again so i'ts better to extend a little bit past peak power so the next gear connects faster.

Oh boy, you are missing out on a bunch of fun stuff..! And that’s the slower one of the fast Volvo estates. Audi has some brilliant quick stuff as well, and those are even faster..! Also AMGs and the top end of BMWs Touring range. There are plenty!

They actually increased the drag of that rear spoiler by covering the openings 🤣🤣 reason why they go down 1 mph.
Exactly, that spoiler is designed to add maybe a little bit of downforce but primarily to help with the problem of the low pressure area on that slab sided rear end. By taping up that gap they're creating an even greater low pressure area which means more drag. I'm surprised no one there didn't tell them that was a dumb idea.
Not to mention the tape flapping rear wheel skirts
They should of removed the roof rails instead lol.

Taped up front grill and that filter is just pulling in hot air now. Get a cold air feed directly out through the front of the grill and it'll definitely help acceleration all the way down the runway from start to finish. Pull the bottom grill out to open up the intercooler more. And soak it with water before the run. Clutching at straws here but worth a bash 😁

Watching the dials i did wonder if there's no point hanging onto 4th for so long, drop it back into the power band of 5th sooner, also fit a cold air feed to the intake, with the grille and vents taped up like that it would be sucking hot air from the engine bay letting a few horses get away.
My mom claims she did 220mph in a Chevy Cruise while on holiday, I keep telling her the speedo must have been in km/h but she refuses to admit it lol

taping off the rear spoiler was a mistake, the spoiler guides air down into the low pressure "parachute" behind the square butt of that car

Underpantsniper The shape of the spoiler is basically an upside down aeroplane wing, so instead of creating more air pressure on the bottom edge of the wing, which causes lift, the higher air pressure is created on top of the wing, forcing it down. Taping off the gap will disrupt the the air creating the low pressure, so more higher pressure air will flow over the top of the spoiler, creating more downforce. This produces more tyre friction etc etc blah blah.
@@bkinurface Not strictly true. A Spoiler is there to 'spoil' the airflow. It is not shaped like an inverse wing, nor does it produce downforce (this is the difference between a rear wing and a spoiler). Instead, the purpose of the spoiler is to reduce lift generated by air flowing down off the roof and down behind the car. It prevents lifting at high speed and improvs the car's drag coefficient. Tyre frictional losses increase very little with speed, however aerodynamic drag increases exponentially. Therefore the faster you go the more impact a lower drag coefficient would make. In a straight line, downforce is pretty meaningless hence the aim of DRS, reducing downforce and drag to increase top speed.

Those Volvo T5 engines are tough old things. They can run to 500,000 miles when looked after. With a turbo and intercooler upgrade you could get over 400hp, or more with supporting mods. Gotta love that 5cyl warble.

anyone can recognize a Volvo by pretty much any part of it.
It's one of the reasons I own one; they've always been styled differently than the rest out there and each generation is actually properly different, which I love about them.
Just a shame the don't have vans.

My first was a C30 and I fell in love with the floating dashboard and centre console, made it feel more like a cockpit, especially since everything has a 10degree angle towards the driver. It was ahead of it's time that car. I'd love to see what the new style would look like in a hatchback format.

I loved my Volvo V70, 2.4 D5 manual 170k fully loaded, leather, BIG sound system, bought for £595 and drove it for 2 years without issue, fast and handled beautifully, surprisingly frugal being a manual too. Proper cheap luxury motoring

You're lucky the v70T5 isn't at any good shape. 150mph is like a sip of tea for this car, stock, with no tuning at all. Most of us are so comfortable in that Volvo seats that we forgot there's a thing call speed limit. And you guys are so funny. Please keep up with more projects.
