@@bennibilasala5236 on top gear Jeremy Clarkson tried to drive around Laguna seca (I think that's how you spell it) faster than someone did on gran turismo. In a honda nsx(I think). Same car same track. He failed aswell. You cant go as fast in real life.

Bumps you dont feel. Straights that aren't straight. Then the car. Car wouldn't handle or break the same way. Too many variables in real life. The guy on here beat F1 drivers. But bet he couldn't even do a 2.10min lap.

The think the simulation is unrealistically fast, there were parts the sim was flooring it in third, virtually going straight over grass verges to cut the small corners
Alex in real life couldn't do this, he'd catch the first patch of grass with one side and spin out or tail slap after correcting
More physics need to be involved in the game, Alex's time, in a near 16 year old car not built for a track, was phenomenal
You're correct. And that's because they picked the shitiest "simcade" out there. If he did this even in Project Cars 2 he would be spinning out of control.

Project Cars 3 is not a very realistic sim racing game. The sim racer had a better car, much more practice and sat comfortably in his home. His lap time wasn't very good, all things considered.

@@Adventureswithmike1 yep there’s a huge mental wall when it comes to things like how late you can brake and there are so many factors like the car not being perfect in person with the tires and brakes
yeah seems super weird to not compare apples to apples, I guess there wasn't a 182 in the game? A GT86 seems a weird second best though, RWD not front FWD and with substantially more power. A much more interesting comparison would have been Alex in the sim and the Sim driver in the Clio IRL, but the sim guy seemed pretty put out just being at the track so I very much doubt he would have gloved up and potentially have lost by quite a wide margin.

That sim driver seemed like such a tool. It's easy to be smug, when you drive a simulated game, in a rwd car with about 20hp more and no consequences to worry about. In real life, i'm damn sure Alex would win by a mile!

It was a bit unfair. That clip suspension and brakes would be worn out as well as the engine wouldn't be running so good. They should of atleast done the same car in the simulation.

The sim driver should have demonstrated his “skill” by actually driving the same car. But the sponsors probably don’t want us to see that he couldn’t come close to 2:01 in real life
Should have also played an actual racing sim and not the more arcade like Project cars 3 (that's what I assume it was given the marketing stickers haha)

I have to say, for a 16-year-old car with 110,000 miles it held up exceptionally well getting thrashed around a track lap after lap. Well done Clio.
And even better news - it passed its MOT on the 25th of October 2020 so the guys are hopefully looking to keep it around!

My first car was a 172 and i had it for 5 years and only had a coil leads and fuel relay . Further drove it like I stole it never missed a beat . Still the most fun car I have ever owned

With a proper rig the experience gets pretty close to irl, I have experience of both. Throw in vr and you will 100% shit your pants if you crash. The only thing sim racing doesn't convey are elevation changes and g-forces.
@Seamus McShamish 100% agree. Being in a real car (coming from someone who has only done sim racing) is definitely way scarier in the sense that there is actual fear. Sim racing is completely risk free, he would have definitely cracked under pressure in a real car.

@@v4-goose147 I’ve had a normal Renault Clio. It was the most unreliable thing ever. But it was dirt cheap. Why is the 182 not worth it. I know cheap sport hatchbacks gets thrashed a lot so is that one reason why?

Knowing how other sim-racers race with real cars, I think he could beat Alex time. There is a bloke in BTCC racing, who won his spot from sim-racing and he won a race this year.
@@Deivs65 I know there are a handful of sim-racers that have done well in racing, but just because you can set a fast time on Project Cars 3 doesn't mean you are a driving god. Most of the ones who are now racing professionally also did some kind of track driving/racing along with sim racing. I don't think he would've gone round much faster in that thing with knackered old tyres and road brakes. Shame they didn't show a full onboard video of Alex's fastest lap so we could really see how he was doing.

Even casual sim gamers could not get that time in the wet!
This episode reminds me of the top gear episode when Clarkson tried to match his speed taking the corkscrew in Laguna Seca Raceway in Gran Turismo with an NSX, it's close to impossible due to how the body is also thrown away side to side compared to do it on a stable seat in game
Definitely feeling those old top gear vibes in this one! Great work on this one! The car had a lot of weight so next time, should probably take out the seats in the car to reduce weight.

Brilliant video went to Cadwell on a bike track day with my mates one of them his license had got banned so I had to go through all briefing and after a quick wristband swop he was on the track catching air at the mountain 😁
I really like these 182’s and would love to buy one as a toy to fiddle with if I had the space for a third car. Not fast by modern standards but they’re cheap and lots of fun.

I LOVE this video as an owner of a 182. Mine is a titan silver, 2005 Team spec. I can barely afford it, probably overpaid for it, and can't get rid of it for market price but I'm not mad, I love the car.
