Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of Tekken 4. I play as King.
Tekken 4 is a game that I didn't particularly like back in the day. I was put off by it's somewhat questionable character roster, and the fact that Law has a moustache! (Ridiculous reason I know!)
But I have changed my tune since then, Tekken 4 is a GREAT game. It's adds some new gameplay features & new characters, but what I really like about it is the atmosphere it presents.
Tekken 4 has appealing stages and fantastic music topped off with solid gameplay, so what's not to like? Even 'Tekken Force' mode makes a return!

They gave Marshall Law a mustache because they were trying to make him look older, as Tekken 4 takes place like 20 years or something after Tekken 2. Also Xiaoyu made her debut in Tekken 3.
King's wrestling moves are incredible in every Tekken game it seems. Glad they were included and that GSTAR likes them too.
Look at the stages. The mall and the beach layouts were so big you could move around. Now their much more tiny like inside an little sandbox. Also it had the best soundtrack and artstyle.
Paul looks awesome with his hair down.
His best costume of all time tbh
Steve is actually a pretty great player. Dude has some sweet moves

John Cena Yeah. I agree with you. For me I thought Tekken 4 is the best one in the series? for me Tekken 4 is the best one IMO. for 6 reasons...
1. Characters (New Characters such as Christie, Steve, Murduk, Combot, and Violet.)
2. Stages is freaking Amazing!
3. Story is dark and serious.
4. Tekken Force (The best game mode ever made I hope they bringing that back in Tekken 7.)
5. The best Soundtrack in the series and the best Graphics for ps2 game!
6. Their freaking costumes use to be the best right next to tekken 3 (cause of tekken 7 costumes is so awesome! has that tekken 4 vibe.)
I'm really hype for Tekken 7 so happy! that they are bringing back that Tekken 4 Atmosphere let's see if it was worth the wait on release.

I'm a fan of Drum & Bass so can't wait for Tekken 7.

I loved Tekken 4, I loved the stages, athmosphere, characters and how simplistic they were because it gave realism to the game. But my only problem with it is that there were uneven stages, like the jungle or the mall, and that made some moves not hit your opponent while it should've. That made me really mad.

Sure, its not the best Tekken game I played when it comes to the fighting system, but it is the first one I ever got to play (and one of the first PlayStation games I played in general). The music and the whole ambiance.....especially the Rooftop, Jungle and that Laboratory stage......damn!
I remember the moment of putting in the CD for the first time and then that opening cutscene with volcano. It gave me so much goosebumps.
I can´t decide which Tekken opening was more goosebumps inducing: This one or the Tekken 5 one with Heihachi and Kazuya fighting against Jack robots at Honmaru.

***** I guess when things has gotten bad for Jin after Heihachi and Kazuya try to kill him and stuff like that, he has to do what he has to do to be a bad guy now. Which was really unexpected.
Yes, Tekken 6 isn't bad the problem is you don't give a fuck about the new characters I mean many of them are so "meh" and had shitty combos and the gameplay didn't convince me.
In the beginning of tekken 4 intro that music scared me as a little kid when I will play it lol .

Everyone says tekken 4 is shit, but the real truth of the truth is that it had some big shoes to fill from tekken 3, and it did it's best!
IMO Tekken 5 DR is the best. But I don't think there's an actual BAD Tekken game.

Tekken 3 was what started it all. After tekken 3 it was an entirely new era of fighting games.
Tekken 7 is pretty good with the fighting gameplay, but the story and the characters are lacking

im remembering that i was scared ASF from tekken while my brother played it but the intro and the player choice menu with the "welcome to the iron fist..." that just sound badasss btw the bear and law were back then my favorites

Tekken 4 is the best game in this franchise. You need to focus on smart tactics, defense and adapt to your opponents behavior and not on looking for long ass juggling combos.
Bro yes and the atmosphere was amazing fighting through put cities or full on mall but no we just get these bland ass circles or squares
The best thing about for me was the modern setting it had especially the music it gave it that "city" feeling.

I think next to tekken there are great games :) in my opinon Soul Calibur 2 is the best of the bunch :) Although 3 was quite good, 4 was good but it felt abit gimmicky with star wars cast, but 5 was good game, but i would class 5 as the Tekken 4 of the Soul Calbur series as it was more streamlined and had less characters n alot newbies that i didn't really like and big gripe in 5 was they fucked up Kilik in 5, that really pissed me off that, as he was one of my favorite characters and turned him into mimic character, but they had 3 mimics in that game Kilik, Edgemaster and Elysium (the final boss) Kiliks replacement Xiba annoyed me, as he is just a annoying character still he has Kiliks moves so hes alright in that respect but didn't like him as much as kilik
+MartynJamieson9 +MrGSTAR321 I think Soul Calibur 2 had one of the coolest openings to a fighting game ever, i really liked the opening to that game, also the music is epic, i think my fave piece is the track that plays when you see Nighmare towards the end of the opening is amazing n epic :) Its great thats available as a hd release on 360 n ps3 :)

I love Tekken 3 to death, but 4 didn't deserve the hate it got. So exactly what made Tekken 3 so special anyways? I always assumed Tekken Tag 1 was like it's successor but with a tag system and more characters.
i think the tekken tags are both the best in the tekken series. tt1 is like t3 improved. Idk why nobody ever mentions the first tag as the best in the series

Nostalgia....first time i played this game was back in 05. Just turn 18 got a job met some cool ass co-workers and after work we would just drink and spark up and play T4 for hrs lol good times.

Remember i loved the graphics, stages and the music, the whole vibe of it was dope.

It always felt like the Tekken games where grounded in reality but then something happened and it got all Annamae Like in the story.

Thanks for the memories, I sucked back when I played it, I think I was like, 6? And all I remembered initially was the intro, king, a Chinese girl, yoshimitsu, but maybe because he was also in souls caliber, and I also remember a level where you're in a creak kind of area with water, and yeah I loved it. The other games I played were kingdom hearts, which I love the entire series, and then DDR, which I am now amazing at.
After watching it, I remember soooooo much. I'm so happy.

My absolute favorite tekken by far I loved everything about it and beat it up and down with everything character over and over one of my all time fav fighting games and I played with steve the most I just liked the concept of having that side duck instead of kicking
Capoeira in tekken may be a lil bit fantasyous, but it was the most well done representation of the capoeira in video games. Also other tekken characters have a lot of fantasyous moves, i can say Paul or even Baek for example. I know some people don't like capo guys in tekken. It's just my point of view.
I love using Combot as my personal training dummy in this game.

What I remember from this Tekken is having a version of Paul with long flowing hair and Hwoarang having short spiky hair. Great game 👍
This was the last Tekken game I have ever played in the series.
What sucks about the Building stage is that when the music was released on a 2-Disc Set, the drums used for the KO were not included in this song.
I never made it to the end of the Tekken Force; the farthest I've gone was in Level 4 with Paul Phoenix.
At least when you play as Kazuya, Jin or Heihachi in the HonMaru stage, you play with the latter in karate/taekwondo clothing.
And I totally agree with you; the composers at Namco did an excellent job of the music for this game.
I think I played the Arcade Version of Tekken 6, but it's been so long that I don't remember now.
My brother would always play as Christie Monteiro and I usually play as Marshall Law, even though I used his son Forrest in Tekken 3.
my favorite stage map is the garage map because the music is damn good

+J Dawg I think they are very good games bro, especially because their newer games have lots and lots of content for single player(just like the ps2 mortal kombat games), while others like SFIV and Marvel vs Capcom 3 are only for competitive gameplay and multiplayer

Tekken 4 has the best Arena/Maps.
If you know how to play with Xiaoyu, she's a killer. Very fancy moves.

The outfit Mishima wears is actually an a outfit that references sumo culture, which is an honorable Japanese sport that’s rules remained unchanged for 500 YEARS! So knowing that it’s actually pretty cool seeing him wear that when ready for battle!
