Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of Mortal Kombat : Deception's Chess Kombat mode.
Mortal Kombat : Deception is my personal favourite '3D' Mortal Kombat game. Released in 2004, two years after Deadly Alliance, this game delivers in both quality AND quantity.
The game contains an abundance of 'Kontent'. Not only do we have the traditional one-on-one fighting modes; this game also contains 'Chess Kombat' & 'Puzzle Kombat', two excellent new additions.
Also, Konquest mode makes a return from Deadly Alliance, although here it is a full-blown RPG set in the Mortal Kombat universe. It is the main reason why Deception is my favourite '3D' Mortal Kombat game.
A MUST own game for Mortal Kombat fans.

Some of the interesting things about this mode:
1. There are two ways to win. First one is to simply kill the leader of the enemy team. Second one is more interesting, in my opinion. Here's how to do it: firstly, kill everyone besides the leader, then use a spell called "Imprison" on the leader. The game will say that you took the leader hostage and you'll win.
2. If both yours and enemy's grunt (it can be everyone, but I just use grunt as an example) stand on the "trap" squares and somebody uses an "Exchange" spell on them, both grunts will blow up and splash in the next turn. It's pretty hilarious, if you ask me (did this trick with my brother from time to time) :)
3. If you kill the entire enemy team before disposing of the leader, the game will say "Annihilation" and you"ll win (being Captain Obvious here). By the way, if you capture the enemy's leader (look at 1.), it won't count as a kill and you won't hear "Annihilation".
4. If the map you play on is "The pool" and throw someone in the acid (in the fight), when you return to the chess board screen and look around, you'll actually see a skeleton in the acid. Pretty cool detail.

11:09 That's technically possible but there is only 3% of chance you can do that. Even if you kill the champion, the A.I will inmediately cast a spell to either teleport you to a trap, imprison or just kill you.

I know this video is old, and you probably figured this out already, but the reason the health did not carry over in the shifter fight was because shifters also copy the starting health of the character that they fight, and because your champion had full health, the shifter did too.

It seems weird that the character you're best with is the one you don't want to have fight at all. I usually put my best as the grunt, then my second best as my champion. Third best is the leader. My idea is that no one will be able to reach the leader to begin with.

I think he probably did it under the logic that if his leader was in trouble, he'd want them to be the character he's best with, since they're the most important
