Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of Tekken 2. I play as Lei Wulong.
This was the first game I ever got for my psx console. The first, and, one of the best games I owned for the psx, period.

I remember seeing Yoshimitsu in his woodland stage, with his massive rain had and that meditation music. I was Awestruck. Then they turned him into a friggin alien.

Ugh this game is so nostalgic... those amazing days in the 90's.. playing this, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken 3, N64 games, Gecko, Golden Eye, Jet Force Jemini... the best days ever.

I'd have to agree. Early high-school days with a great system and amazing games. Ps1's game lineup was untouchable. The loading screen when you turned on the system was my favorite.
Tekken 2 had the best soundtrack of the series Tekken 3 was the best overall game of the series.

Still in TAG the music is more club techno type.. kind off...
This is more ambient / new age... just more relaxing.

I was laughing so hard during the Devil fights. The frustration is real.
7:35 Actually, that was a counter hit. Counter hits do massive amounts of damage compared to when you're just hitting an opponent who isn't blocking normally. Since you did a charge up, the punishment you received was equivalent to the reward you get when you connect the move. Sort of a risk and reward thing going on with this game.
STER Gaming I wanted to write the same comment. Tekken 2 doesn't do glitches. Everything seems to be thoroughly thought about. Amazing game.

Lei was a MONSTER in this game. I used to get to the last stage with Lei, and then fight Devil with whoever I hadn't beaten the game with
I played the hell out of this in the arcade when I was little. I remember choosing Baek and just mashing the kick buttons, which got me through the first 4-5 stages, haha. I watched someone play as Jun once and instantly fell in love with her graceful flowing combos, so I picked her up and mained her ever since. This is my favorite of the old school Tekken games.

In my opinion T2 > T1 > T3
7:36 Just so you know dude, Heihachi managed to deal so much damage because you executed an unblockable move which left you open, and his uppercut (pretty damaging move anyway at 40dmg) was both a Clean and a Counter hit, dealing much more damage than usual, something like 72dmg.
So it really tends to be very high risk using unblockables because of that slow charge up.
Half of the playthrough was against Kazuya/Devil.
Thats because he is the cheapest boss in tekken history(Arcade version reads the inputs you perform and counter them faster than any human can which is just torture) and this isnt even the arcade version where he is way harder in ultra hard...
And the rage was comedy gold🤣

lol it's amazing how many of these old school 10-hit combos I can remember from playing tekken 2 religiously back in the day. Its the only way I can even get through these new tekken games lol

The funny thing about Devil, is that for me personally he's easier then Kasuya and there have even been times where I have beaten him without losing once.
What happens to me is basically the opposite to what happens to GSTAAR when he goes up to the Kasuya stage and after, I get stuck on Kasuya, beat him in 7 tries, go onto Devil defeated him before I even lose more then Four rounds, amazing.
Because kazuya is harder than devil. Especially in the arcade version where kazuya's AI is inhuman.

Tekken 2 is where I started my love for the Tekken games as well, Tekken 3 was the Tekken game I got for Christmas when I was a teenager. (I think)

Same here Gstar this was one of the 1st games i ever owned, the first game i ever got was Tomb Raider 3 form my christmas 1998, that was my best christmas ever, see my dad had bowel cancer that year and my parents told me they could not afford a ps for my christmas present as i really wanted one, so imagine my shock when i came downstairs christmas morning to discover they had got saved as much money as they could to get me my ps1 :), this game was my 2nd game, this was the first one i bought myself. i owned for my ps1, still have it too. Tekken 3 was my fave one, but this game is still awesome.
Tekken 2 started my love for Tekken period. It had so much content and the soundtrack was absolutely mind blowing. The characters and their background stories were awesome. I actually started playing Tekken 1 because of Tekken 2 if that makes any sense. Just to see how the game started out because I loved Tekken 2 that much but Tekken Tag tournament gameplay, story, soundtrack and content on the ps2 hands down was the best nostalgic end all Tekken game for me. The music omg on Tekken Tag tournament was amazing and the stages too.
Man, Why did they make the newer tekkens, arcade easier. I love the challenge and how hard it really was to beat the boss of this game. They should've kept it that way.
PrimoHydra Jinpachi, Azazel & Akuma are in no way easy. 10 Star difficulty Akuma is just death.
Edit: I just realised this comment was a year ago before Tekken 7 was even released so ignore the Akuma part but my point still stands about Jinpachi & Azazel.

You know you could just change it to hard difficulty right?
This game has surprisingly great graphics to compare Tekken 1 even if they had only about one year difference. My first was Tekken 3 and my favorite also. :O :)

King was the first character I played as when I first played the tekken series and I've always loved him til now :) so much memories man :D
Take note that if you are hit whilst performing an attack, which is essentially a counter, the damage is increased from its normal form. Charging up turns the damage of a single attack into a counter damage. Some attacks do lots of damage when used as a counter.
Especially with powerhouses, shall we say, Paul Pheonix's Pheonix smasher?
***** As much as the move is a simple rush punch, it can be played strategically, especially when feigning the attack first
Pheonix Smasher is such a powerful move when used at the right time. It's why I love Paul in particular
Great game and lei was my favourite, I spent most of the time laying down, it's the most unpredictable starting position and you can roll out of the way of opponents attack and laying down can lead to a lot of the best combos.
I just purchased this game, while being on vacation. now I got all three tekkens on ps1. Sweet memories;) while being here I enjoy vids like this, getting me hyped before I play it at home. for me and all of us, 90's kids this game is like a holy graal. I play Lei too, but i think I play him better, must say. Nic vid, by the way.

Tekken 2 and 3 were the entries I played like crazy when I was a kid, and in my opinion the best in the series. Even my dad at the time who wasn't a big gamer loved Tekken. I remember we'd have relatives and friends over playing 1v 1 matches for hours. People that weren't gamers mind you and it was competitive as hell lol. Good times..

If Tekken Tag Tournament 1 HD had extra characters like Doctor Bosconvovitch and Gon, proper vibrant costume colours, extra game modes from T3 and the soundtrack and stages of T2 and T3 it would be the best shit ever!
I still play Tag 1 because the characters look good, fighting style is awesome before they fucked it up and gameplay is SUPER smooth and not to mention Jin and Heizuya tag team is beast, you get an extra 10 hit combo for Jin if you pair him up with Heihachi.

I'm sure someone already mentioned this, but the reason you took so much damage from that Devil punch was because you were doing your charge move. It's a risk/reward thing.

The replay was such a cool feature... until one of your friends kicked YOUR ass and you had to watch it again as you went from annoyed to raging and they couldn't stop laughing.
