1 of the best trades we made. We wouldn't have been the same if we keep Stackhouse. That pistons team wish so unselfish n were all about ball movement n finding the hot guy
Rip brought the emphasis on shooting ability back to the NBA imo. Showed everyone how important that mid range game can be. There was some Ugleee basketball in terms of shooting in the early 2000's. More bricks than any era I've ever watched
@@mauricejohnson1068 yep. His play was pivotal in them either winning or losing the championship. In 2005, Tom Duncan should not have been the MVP of the Finals, it should have been Bruce Bowen. That was the only playoff series I saw where a defender did a tremendous job guarding Rip Hamilton. That was the key to Detroit not repeating because Rip Hamilton had his hands full with that guy.
@@mauricejohnson1068 think about RIP Hamilton's titles in college and the NBA. On both occasions, his team was the overwhelming underdog, yet, he played his ass off. In 1999, Duke was being called the greatest college team ever and they had no answer for the 1999 Final Four MOP. In 2004 the Lakers were planning on getting rings for their wives and dogs and Kobe Bryant had to deal with his high school rival who was constantly moving without the ball . I would love to have seen RIP play with Isiah Thomas moving off of screens.
This is true, in the 3 straight ECF losses from 06-08 Rip was the by far the most consistent and reliable player we had in those series when other guys underperformed.
Rip ran like stef before stef, they called him the Energizer bunny or something like that but he would tire out his defender by running around nonstop😂
Rip and Mr big shot was the best back court in the league back then they beat the super team Lakers being from Detroit and I am a huge fan of the Lakers
I hated that trade at 1st because I didn't know much about rip, and I thought stack and Chauncey was about to ball the hell out...a year or 2 later, now I'm trying to model my game after rips game😂. Rip and Ben are my all time favorite pistons now
Stackhouse is one of those guys who has been proven to be very inefficient since his playing days ended. He looked good in the box score but absolutely didn’t contribute what Rip did, even with better numbers.
Still remember his free throw ritual well. Favorite Piston. Well maybe lol Hard to choose, you got Big Ben, Sheed, Prince, Billups, that team was loaded.
I keep telling people the Pistons Championship was a lucky mistake! Detroit didn’t want to pay a star, as usual, so they got Rip. When it was time to pay Chauncey and Ben they let them go too. Smh
That Detroit team when you sit down and see how they would match up with other championship teams idk if they lose in a 7 game series maybe 97 bulls team maybe
I was a bit confused about the Stackhouse trade but I knew it was coming because on the 💩 he was doing off the court in my neighborhood we chopped it up with him at my childhood barber shop Ja’Paree on E.Warren & Lakepoint he was in the EastSide Chedda Boyz music video at his house & they were just caught up in some unsavory things he was connected to & a neighborhood basketball Legend with my namesake last name would have him in the trenches with affiliates that were hood legends in their own rights so when it hit the fan in the news Joe D had no choice but to get Stack away from Detroit that’s why the trade was right before pre season smh if he had not did that we still was going to be a 50 win team with similar success and other b.s like that happend a season later with a draft pick who’s a hall of famer and both of them guys careers would have been different along with 6 other guys who had that grit & grind with off the court issues 🤦🏾♂️ Bonzi Wells , Carmelo Anthony , Mehmet Okur , Cliff Robinson , Joe Johnson , Cliff Robinson smh 🤦🏾♂️ people are not aware about the should have been
Hamilton was the King of moving without the ball…
Him and Steph curry on the same team with Jokic as the playmaker would be insane
Yo that lil jump shot from the corner of the free throw line was clutch coming off a pick
Reggie Miller has entered the chat
He studied Reggie Miller.
Ray Allen
Bro I love how they give much love to all the Piston Teams
1 of the best trades we made. We wouldn't have been the same if we keep Stackhouse. That pistons team wish so unselfish n were all about ball movement n finding the hot guy
Their Defense was so good too.
Rip is one of the most under rated elite hoopers
Rip brought the emphasis on shooting ability back to the NBA imo. Showed everyone how important that mid range game can be. There was some Ugleee basketball in terms of shooting in the early 2000's. More bricks than any era I've ever watched
Of that group, Rip Hamilton year after year was the most consistent player on that team.
All time pistons playoff scorer

He was the best off ball scorer and. Mid range shooter in the league. I was so incredible at finding his spots. He was the perfect fit.
His spot was the elbows only lmao
@@wowthatsinteresting8951but he was money
Not gonna lie I was so upset when the trade happened because I really liked Stackhouse but it shows that we fans don't always see the bigger picture.
Exactly
DEEEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLLLL! YESSIRRR!
In high school I drop 24 points doing what rip did running off screens for the mid ranges
Both RIP and Stack beast
Back then I thought that was one of the dumbest moves Detroit ever made.....Boy I was wrong.
Wish i wasnt a baby then😔
This was a hellava trade!! #JoeD
Stack and Hill were awesome.
But for us fans to then get Rip and Mr Big Shot, we were very fortunate.
Trust Rip, it was a shock to all us.
Joe D built a bad ass team. His only fault was that Darko pick.
Melo coulda been on that team
@@290TheEmpireRecordsduhhh
Rip had the best consistency of the midrange game.
Yessir! Great Decision making payed off!
They made Larry Brown look like a genius again. That team basically coached theirself.
Not Really lol
I’ve seen the players from that team say otherwise.
I just watched a clip where Rasheed was complimenting Larry’s genius
I switched to rip hamiltons free throw warm up in middle school instantly made me the most consistent free throw shooter on the team it felt so clean
Coatesville, PA in the building!!
Rip ran like stef before stef, they called him the Energizer bunny or something like that but he would tire out his defender by running around nonstop😂
The Best Trade we ever made!!!
RIP!!! Had the BEST MID-RANGE SHOT IN THE GAME💯💯💯!!!
Seen tat wen he was at ucon.
Top 3 midrange shooters to play the game
So what about all of the other shooters in history that didn't even use the Three point shot before this dude came along
Dang!!!
I wouldn't have guessed that was Rip Hamilton!!😮
One of the best trades the Pistons ever made. Those five cats were something special.
It was a business move mostly. Stack was coming off a great season and was moving into a contract year. Dumars didn't want to pay that type of money
Rip and Mr big shot was the best back court in the league back then they beat the super team Lakers being from Detroit and I am a huge fan of the Lakers
Us in Detroit were not all in on the trade at first but the league needs a RIP and a Big Ben
You right at the time I was pissed we got rid of Stack he was getting buckets he could get to the basket anytime he wanted stack was nice
It had to be a pain in the ass for people having to defend players like Reggie, Rip and Allen. Those guys never stopped moving.
Dawg I remember this trade like it was yesterday… come on RIP is one of the greatest!
Great pickup Rip Hamilton he was a beast mid-range G.O.D
One of the best trades Dumars made back in the day. Man, everything fit so well back then.
Man those were the days Pistons were a great team with the core of Billups, Hamilton, Prince, Wallace and Wallace
Rip, Even though I was all Larry Bird and Boston Celtics, I really always enjoyed watching you shoot. You're one of the best shooters in the NBA
that trade shocked everybody
Supa Dope. I ain’t had the chance to c Rip in this light yet

People still chasing Rip around screens to get that mid range jumper splashed in their face. 😂
He was good in Washington. I liked them both but I thought Rip was the future!
Idk why, but I feel like him and sheed sound alike lol
Stackhouse is one of those guys who has been proven to be very inefficient since his playing days ended. He looked good in the box score but absolutely didn’t contribute what Rip did, even with better numbers.
Jordan trades Rip because he wanted another Carolina guy in Stackhouse to be his teammate.
Still remember his free throw ritual well. Favorite Piston. Well maybe lol Hard to choose, you got Big Ben, Sheed, Prince, Billups, that team was loaded.
The (KING) most lethal l running "OFF THE BALL" movement RIP. if only you understand the game even KOBE said it.
The most athletic guy ever seen he could run forever on the court
And I'm glad they did.
Rip should’ve been finals MVP 2004 tbh
Rip look like a real life chipmunk in the face 😂😂😂
Anyone know where this full pod cast can be viewed? Thank you.
Thanks RIP
Jordan should have been trying to get C Billups 😐 Bad trade for the Wizards

I got love for Hamilton , but Stackhouse was that dude.
I used to call RIP overrated
Then He became a Piston & shutted Me up with his game 😂😂😂
Stack used to ball for us
He was cold

its time to go to work

RIP just don't look the same without his mask 😂
Mr. catch & shoot
One of MJ's worst trades as a GM. Rip Hamilton was a much better player, so much more efficient and worked better with MJ on the court.
Jordan screwed the wizards with that trade
