- Audio Advice’s top picks for the best turntables under $2,000 is here! There are a lot of great turntables in the $1,000 to $2,000 price range, which created a fairly heated debate between our team members, but it was all in fun, as we just love this great hobby of enjoying vinyl.
*EDIT: We mistakenly showed a Technics SL-1200GR instead of the mentioned Technics SL1500C in a few shots. The SL12000GR is also a great option and you can watch our comparison between the two here: • Technics SL-1500C vs T...

This was a wonderful review. Thank you for sharing these "top shelf" turntables. After looking at Turntables through out 2023, I ended up going to Best Buy and Purchasing a Sony LX310BT Turntable with BLUETOOTH. It is an automatic turntable. It has a built in Pre-amp. It cost me 199.00 dollars and does everything I need. It is plugged into a pair of Klipsch Powered Speakers that were on sale for 299.00 dollars. While I respect these wonderful turntables, some of us don't have that big a budget. Happy 2024, Love Your Channel!
Thanks very much. Glad you are having fun with vinyl. All the best in 2024!
Was looking for a gift for my daughter who is finding the joy in vinyl, birthday time. This is timely. Well done.
Perfect, glad you liked it
Great choices in a crowded market segment. I think a sleeper in this price range is the U-Turn Orbit Theory w/Ortofon 2M Bronze at about $1300. I also like the Marantz TT -15S1 in this price range and it's a looker.
That is a good one too, we debated on it.
I have the debut pro and i’m really satisfied with it. Thinking about upgrading it with a ortofon 2M bronze cartridge instead of the pick it pro cartridge that was premounted. Guess I won’t need to buy another turntable for a lifetime thereafter 😂😍
I chose between rega p3 and the debut pro but after a lot of research, reviews and the fact that the debut pro design attracted me more the choice landed on the debut pro.
Thanks for sharing. The Bronze will be a nice upgrade.
Hi great informative video, I recently bought rega plannar3 , but unfortunately and this issue has been noted on various forums whereby mains hum can be heard as the tone arm nears the centre of the record . Other than that is a great deck , regards mark
Glad you liked it. You might want to try some of these tips in our video on grounding Rega tables czcams.com/video/SBaiycoHmwE/video.html
@@AudioAdvice thanks for that , I have a look regards mark
Move it as far as possible from the plug socket , the hum will stop
A lot of quality turntables here! Great video.
Thanks!
How can I tell if a record was made by copying the sound from a CD or digital source or analogue source?
That is the $64,000 question. There has not been a push to standardize how things were done. There are three steps and only AAA would be all analog. Any older recordings pre around 1982 should be analog, but you have to be careful of repressing which could be redone in digital. Many repressing will brag about being all analog, but that is about it
Great comparison!
Glad you think so!
Ask yourself a question: Why is it that you NEVER see double-blind hearing tests on equipment dedicated to AUDIO?!?!? If audio equipment REALLY had the differences that reviewers assert, it should be a no-brainer. And yet.
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
I just realized Rega's are so expensive in North America when compared to the UK due to import fees. Are they still worth having pay hundreds more?
They are still a great value here
@AudioAdvice £880 vs $1,600 for the P3, that's a $500usd difference. Is there not a better table in the usd range where you're not spending $500 in shipping basically?
@@EVRDYRNGDhow does a Pro-Ject Debut Pro compare to a Rega P3 in price for you?
It looks like you are showing images of the Tenhnics 1500 and 1200 but you are only reviewing the 1500.
Yes, our video editor made a mistake and CZcams will not let you correct it once it is posted. Thanks for the catch
This was Turntable plus Cartridge under $2K . The Technics SL-1200GR is about $1800 , There are cartridges under $200 worth considering .
The SL- 1200GR bests the model SL- 1500 . Admittedly , some will not care for the DJ styling of the 1200 . .
Agree, we were trying to stick with pre-built tables. Thanks for watching
Its biggest problem is its 2d rigid sound. Technics and high torque DD's cant loosen up and boogie. Its like a modern philharmonic orchestra trying to play Funkadelic! They also have a hardness and digital esque signature. You cant make them sound good imo. A Rega P6 just walks all over a Technics for musicality
It is terribly annoying to see the x2b coming with the Sumiko Rainier. The outgoing X2, which is damn near the same, had the Sumiko Moonstone. Wildly different calibers.
I’m also kinda lost on why the product photos, like the one in this video, show the turntable with a Moonstone mounted. The Sumiko Rainer is white, the moonstone is red. I’m guessing someone just copied and pasted from the old model.
We thought the same thing, thanks for the catch.
Rt85 crushes orbit IMO
The Orbit is not in this overview. If you mean the Orbit in our under $500, both you mention are good tables and everyone has their own opinion. Thanks for sharing
@@AudioAdvice call me a fluance 85 fan boy. Lol I admit it. Keep'em spinning
Now you’ve got to do $2-5K
Possibly next year, thanks!
For the most part of these commercials the focus is more on the announcer than in the products.
Thanks for the feedback. Would you like to see the products on screen more?
Absolutely. After all, it's what you're trying to sell... isn't it?
Just a thought but a little less gesticulation would be good.
The voice inflections up and down every four words is also very tick, tock and annoying.
Thanks for the feedback. We do our best to keep it interesting and lighthearted instead of a monotone voice throughout the videos. However, we are always looking to improve, so we will take this into consideration moving forward.
@patrickcarpenter6258 thanks for the feedback. We try to keep it interesting but we will note that for next time.
The Michell is $2500.
Thank you for letting us know. The price increased since the time of us filming this video as it will not be provided in a bundle.
I think in the same price range Rega beats Pro-Ject every single time
Thanks for sharing
@MarcusFenixD Rega with their lack of speed control without a separate box, lack of VTA adjustment, lack of azimuth adjustment, even the feet can’t be levelled, permanently fixed RCA leads and complete lack of published specs for wow and flutter, rumble and so on I took a hard pass on a P3.
For example a P3 lacks everything I mentioned previously and it costs £100 more than the Pro-Ject Debut Pro which offers all of the above. Don’t really see any appeal to Rega at all.
@@michaelb9664 The RCA cables on the Planar 3 aren't fixed
The debut pro is definitely better if you want convenience and is a great table in its own right but the RB330 arm is superior to the Pro's
@@ajmoore2201 I stand corrected on the P3 RCA lead.
Do you have anything technical to support the claim that the RB330 is superior to the Pro-Ject aluminium/carbon layers? With the Pro-Ject you can adjust it to fit any cartridge you like within reason.
@@michaelb9664Im telling you this as an owner of a Project Debut Pro with the stock Pick It Pro that the P3 with an Exact absolutely walks all over it. The Project arm feels massively inferior for one thing. Sure it has more adjustability but the point of the Rega ranges is to stick within the family for the wonderful synergy. If someone likes the distinctive Rega sound then at their respective price points their products cant be touched. Project is a rather over productive brand keen on pushing XLR in the home environment and just sell, sell, sell no matter what but they do some decent stuff and the made in EU is a good thing
I just can't get behind rega, just nit there for me
Thanks for sharing, many people including us feel differently and you can not argue with their consistent great reviews and longevitity of the company and products.
@@AudioAdvice different strokes for different folks, I dig it. The whole less is best thing is not my cup of tea. How do you feel about music hall tables?
$2000.00! What a crock
What?!
@AudioAdvice Only the rich can afford outrageous costs for turntables and albums. Totally unacceptable to spend $2k on a turntable and $30, $40 even $50 for 1 album! For what, to satisfy your ears! Jesus Christ
@@deputy3690 If you don't like it, don't buy it! No one is forcing you to spend 2k on a Turntable. Go buy one of those record players in a suitcase for $80 and you'll quickly find out that you get what you pay for.
@@deputy3690nobody is forcing you to buy one.
@robertfiala5337 I understand that. All I am basically saying is that consumers just accept these sky high retail prices and each price increase becomes the norm. Businesses thrive off of brainwashed consumers and all the commercials and advertising prove that. $2k for a turntable is just extortion, not inflation.
You mention the 1500C and show the 1200GR…
Good catch, thanks
