  • Brian May wrote "Save Me" about a friend whose relationship had ended, and played piano, synths and guitars (electric and twelve-string acoustic) on it.
It was recorded in 1979 and released in the U.K. on January 25th, 1980.
It was also included in the album The Game as the last track of the album released June 30, 1980.

At first Brian May plays the piano while Freddie sings. Then Freddie plays the piano and sings while Brian May plays the guitar. They just make this look so easy. That's how big was this band. Incredible.

Over and above the INCREDIBLE SONG, note the fantastic "infrastructure" of how they pull this song off live: First, Brian on piano for first two verses, using the piano mic for bv; at some point, Freddie goes over Brian's side of stage for coverage; 2nd chorus, Brian takes up guitar, around his lap - he moves to his position, so Freddie moves back over other side of stage; then during guitar solo, Freddie on piano, hands off mobile mic [I've always marveled at his mic-roadie receiving and handing off the mic to him so seamlessly!] and uses piano mic for both guitar solos; then handing back the mobile mic for finale. Fucking Brilliant! They make it look so easy, yet you know that hours of planning, prep and rehearsal went into that seamlessness!
