I'm pretty sure he was very sad and depressed from having AIDS
I've always believed that this video was Freddie's way of telling all of us goodbye and that he loved us all.
According to a story I just read from the director of the video, that is completely accurate.
Makes me so sad I'm bout to cry
I just read something by a close friend of his that confirmed that very thing. That last "I still love you" that he whispered at the end of the song was for the fans.
He was actually very sick while making this video and having terrible pain from open sores on his body due to the AIDS virus. But you wouldn’t have known it, the director said he fought through it to leave on his terms.

The incredible thing is that even when he was terminally ill Freddie could still sing better than most of us when we're in top condition.
Jonathan Kennedy amazing man he was !!!
IKR he was amazing
Truly brother
Brian said that he was in so much pain during this time. He had wounds that would not heal, all those tumors (which I forget there real name) and it was just hard for him to stand. Brian May said that Freddie would take a couple shots, drag himself up with the mic and sing. He literally died doing what he loved and this video makes me want to cry due to how brave of him to even make this video and looking as sick as he did. Freddie tried to hid it with make up and that’s also why it’s in black and white as well. We don’t get to see much of that anymore which is saddening tbh
They were leisions, not tumors. Tumors are what you have when you have cancer. Freddie had AIDS. Which destroys your immune system and your body deteriorates while you’re still alive.

He was living on borrowed time, AIDS ravaged his body and he knew the curtian was coming down soon. He left us all one last epic, a goodbye to those that loved him. The band, his husband, Mary, all of his fans, a fond farewell before he soared off to the eternal blue.
You are missed, old chap.
2024 - I'm 38 and it still feels like he was only singing and saying goodbye to me although I was 6 when it was released. But, that's only a magic Freddie possessed whether it was the way he controlled the crowd to repeat him no matter how tough he tried to make it or just singing in your bedroom the feeling was always the same.
I can’t believe this was 30 years ago. Oh Freddie, you still truly are the greatest showman.
Cant hardly stand it what is wrong with us all these years ago
His flame still burns bright ❤️🔥
Brian May once commented on this song and the video.
"His saying Goodbye in this video. His saying Goodbye to his Family, to his friends and most especially to his fans."
😭
Yup, that is a sincere, look you straight in the eye, I love you shot at the end.
It's so sad makes me cry :-(
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
He looks so ill. What an entertainer ❤️❤️❤️
@This is my B00Mstick no. His last song was Mother's Love. Brian May sang the last verse of the song because Freddie died before it was finished.
And the colored version is not aa leaked video. It was part of the "Days Of Our Lives" documentary by Queen. It that documentary they said lots of things about their journey up to Freddie's death. They also expressed their anger to the man who took pictures of Freddie looking pale and Roger calling the man a "wanker". They also talked about in the video how they protected Freddie during his last years of fighting aids. Saying "F*ck you" to reporters who repeatedly asks about Freddie's real condition at that time. And lastly the most hearbreaking part is when Roger cried while telling the interviewer about Freddie's last hours and how he was not able to make it to come to Freddie's side moments before he died. 😭
No matter how many artists I have listened to, the first song I heard was by Queen and the last one I will listen to will be by Queen.
And I didn't have the privilege of listening when he was still alive, but he will always be my idol for life.
I come across these periodically and still get emotional watching this.. what a talented artist.. gone… this was his goodbye to all of his fans 💔
You can see the sickness in his face. Can’t imagine how Roger Brian and John felt watching him deteriorate like that. So sad. What legends.
area3eventing
Yes they were. I was watching a Brian May interview on RT and he was talking about how depressed he got, and driving and seeing a cliff and wondering if it would do, and realized he had people depending on him, and that that is not how Freddy would of approved of him doing. H went on and did what Freddy would have wanted - live and finsished his Phd and other passions. Deaky simply said Queen died with Freddy dying and walked away from it all. It was Freddy or nothing.
Yeah
Despite his sickness, he looks even more attractive. For me he is the most handsome at this video. The last. The best.
When he looks into the camera (and our souls) and whispers "I still love you" my heart breaks into a million pieces. Oh Freddie, we still love you too and we miss you more than words can say.
It's said that those were his last words on film
Gary Chambers It sadly was :(
She stood by him till the end.
This whole video is sad just seeing how bad Freddie looked in it.
Janey Jester when Freddie Mercury said “I still love you” he said it to Jim Hutton who was there behind the camera not to Mary Austin
When I see musicians like Freddie Mercury, Johnny Cash, and David Bowie, among others, creating art up to the very end of their days, it becomes so clear to me that to an artist, the creation of art is life itself. This is not something true artists can shut off and wait until life is exactly as it should be before they choose to create. I feel inspired to keep creating when I see this, even more than I already do now, and I am so grateful for these artists and their work. What a gift to witness.
We still love you too Mr Mercury.

I miss Freddie :(
@@mycometing4827 me too💔
32 years later, and I still can't believe Freddy is gone. What a man ! and what a band ! This band showed me that truly good music is timeless. It's 2024 and I know people will still be listening to this in 2124.
Im crying a lot because of this music video...
Not only one.😭😿❤
I dedicate this song to my grandma Claire Taube who passed away yesterday at 99 years old
My condolences bro.
😥
Interesting enough, my grandma died from cancer while I was listening to this song. Hope they are both really happy at heaven.

Sorry man
This song was a way of saying goodbye to all his fan's.
Yoshua Biji Roger originally wrote it about him growing older, getting married and having kids.
But in Brian May's words in that context "It had a whole new meaning"
I agree - it was a goodbye song to Mary, his family, his friends, his cats and especially the audience.
So true... so true... so sad...
It was a beautiful way to say good night thanks Freddie x we love you too
...indeed !
