      Hey Ibra! Thanks for commenting, I saw both your messages in this video "How much do things cost in Egypt | Shopping Mart" and in my other video "How Much Do Things COST in Egypt? PRICES & COSTS Of Taxis, Hostels, Food, Drinks", and it's a good question.
      You are right, there is inflation happening here just as in many other parts of the world. But don't forget the Egyptian Pound has also lost a lot of value in the past year. When I arrived in Egypt in October of 2021, $1 USD = 15 EGP. Now (January 15th, 2023) $1 USD = 29 EGP. So the currency has been reduced in value to almost half of it's value, in USD. Prices have gone up a bit, but usually only by a few EGP, which is just a few cents in USD.
      I would like to make another video about prices in Egypt, especially in a supermarket, the problem is almost all the supermarkets I try to film in ask me to stop filming almost as soon as I start. But I can try and go and film incognito with my phone and see if I have better luck doing that. Do you have any items or things you would like to know the price of, in particular? I plan on making another video showing price of a liter of gas, showing some cheap items like cigs/water/soda again, but what else are you curious to see the price of? Thanks again for commenting, I appreciate your questions and suggestions! ❤

      Thank you so much for your support and watching my channel! As far as apartments for rent in Egypt....Ah, I wish it were easy! Actually finding an apartment would have been very difficult for me if I didn't have my Egyptian boyfriend to help me. I think finding accommodation in Egypt is not that easy and the quality of what you get is not that great for the price you are paying, unless you get lucky (at least in Cairo, which is the only place I looked). For example if you look on Airbnb, even for monthly stays, the prices are quite high compared to many other countries I have looked at. I looked on my different sites for apartments in Cairo as well and looked at them in person, most were not...in good condition, and also far from the city center, which is where I wanted to be close to. I also knew some foreign girls who were looking for apartments for rent in Cairo. They found a few they were interested in, but when they arrived to see the place the landlord or whoever was showing them the place tried to charge them a lot more than what was advertised, I think perhaps because they were foreigner. So if you're looking to find an apartment for rent I think it's very useful, if not necessary, to have an Egyptian, Arabic speaking friend to help you look for one. I also found that most apartments wouldn't do short term contracts, most wanted a year, mayyybee you could find one for 6 months. I wish I could be of more help!

      That's true, unfortunately every time I try to film in a grocery store I get told I can't film, so it's pretty hard to make this video again anywhere. The EGP has lost value and inflation is happening around the world, including in Egypt. I recommend anyone wondering about prices to get online and look at Talabat Mart (online grocery delivery site) for prices of groceries. That gives you a better idea of the current prices of things here in Egypt. Some things can be bought for cheaper of course, like at a veggie shop or a butcher, but many things will also be the same price in the store as on Talabat Mart

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před rokem

      Good question, and short answer is...I can't exactly remember how cold it go last winter, and also I think where you are coming from/what temps you are used to will determine what you consider cold to be. To guess an estimate of the average temp in winter, maybe 10c..? Sometimes 15C, but sometimes it felt colder, I swore it got to 5C at some point. At night the temp drops, the sun is down by 5pm, it can get windy and feel pretty cold. Example, I wore several layers of jackets, shoes, pants, several scarves, and sometimes I was still cold. But many places here don't have indoor heating, so whatever temp it is outside is the same inside (sometimes even cooler because at least the sun is shining outside). During the day it is usually pretty nice though, it's more at night that I remember feeling very cold

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před rokem

      It's honestly hard to say these days, as there has been a lot of inflation recently, and also in the last year and a half (that I've been here in Egypt) the Egyptian Pound has lost half it's value (when I arrived $1 USD = 15 EGP. Now, at this very moment, $1 USD = 30.89). I suggest looking up Talabat Mart and checking prices for groceries there. Talabat (talabat.com/egypt) is a delivery service in Egypt that delivers food from restaurants, but they also have their own grocery store delivery service that is very similar to if not the same prices as the shops you would walk into. A butcher would likely be a bit less expensive to buy from than the meat from talabat mart, but not necessarily. Anyway, it gives you idea of the cost of all kinds of groceries in Egypt. I just looked up the cost of 1kg of minced beef, I didn't see any fresh available or for 1kg, but I did find frozen minced beef, 500 grams, and the cost is currently 159.95 EGP = $5.18 USD
