  • Guava, sugarcane, mango, pomegranate, avocado, kiwi, date, strawberry, watermelon. These are just a few of the juices and smoothies available at juice shops all over Egypt, always fresh and very affordable at less than $2 USD a glass (many times only $0.50 USD, depending on what you get and the size). Come check out a local juice shop in downtown Cairo with me and experience the local juice shops for yourself.

    I so miss the fresh juices. Absolutely loved the mango juice. The footage of the traffic is very typical of Cairo: it’s free-for-all insanity of vehicles then suddenly pedestrians are casually walking across the street. Somehow it all works. Shukran for the video.

    It is also my favorite Juice Shop in downtown. I use to order the avocado-nuts smoothie with honey and buy some cashews. A bit strange there you pay at the desk first which then need some communication between the juice/nut staff before they hand it over to you. I didn't know there is an upstairs seating area, good to know! Normally it is a bit crowded but you choose a relaxed time.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Yeah I go here all the time, it's usually not busy when I go though. I get the avocado nut smoothie a lot too, it's good! Many places are like this though, where you pay at the cashier first, they then give you the receipts and you hand one of them to the staff so they can make it. Lots of fast food style joints also work like this.

Try Qonbela "The BOMB" It's rice pudding with Basbousa and Kunafa on top then fresh fruits and juices (Mangos, apples, and bananas mostly) then Mango juice, strawberry juice, and Juave juice. and with a really thick cut of cream. Just try it it amaze U.
    And If U R in Giza, visit Farghaly in Gameet El Dewal. Try the fruit salad there and the Ice cream. And If U want to try the Rice pudding in Giza, then visit Elmalky but it doesn't have all the toppings such as the Qonbela from Karnak but it's still so much tasty and amazing.

    I'm really enjoying your videos and have become a regular subscriber. I like that you added some phrases with translation. Could you do a video about ordering in a café or restaurant with phrases and translations? I'm Canadian and hope to be in Egypt in March.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thank you so much for subscribing!!! Hmmm....I just recently did a video with some basic phrases and translations for people planning to visit Egypt. czcams.com/video/fDDKHjDmfg0/video.html
      But honestly it might be better to order in English anyway. If you start speaking Arabic they will speak it back to you and you will have no idea what they are saying. I think the basic phrases I explained in the video linked above is sufficient for ordering. I explain how to say "thank you", "can I have", "excuse me", and "the bill/check", amongst other words and phrases that could be useful for a quick trip to Egypt. So check that video out if you haven't seen it already. Oh, and something I wish I would have added to that video but I forgot to is: In Egyptian Arabic "where are you from?" is "minayn" which can kind of sound like the word "money" in English, especially if said quickly or the person is mumbling a bit. So don't make the mistake I did and think people are asking you for money when they are actually asking you "where are you from?" 🤣 When I first arrived to Egypt I only knew like 3 words in Arabic (I started learning more pretty quickly but did not learn what "where are you from" was) and people kept asking "minayn, minayn?" and I thought they were asking for money. I cringe at that now 🤣🤦‍♀️and it is on the internet forever lol. Here's a link one of those instances, it was my first week in Egypt and I was in Alexandria going to a fish market. Time stamp 4:30 czcams.com/video/U24u2KTJrS8/video.html

    • @timnoxel3387
      @timnoxel3387 Před 11 měsíci

      @Gventures haha "money, money" ... too funny!. Yes, I saw your video with greetings & market talk and commented on it & you replied. 😀 One thing that was so great about it was the pronunciations as well as the spellings. One term I've heard you use is Yallah Bina (not sure of spellings); not sure what it means. Anyway, if not a video re restaurant ordering, maybe just another similar to what you did the other day. It was *really* helpful! (I even took notes! lol). Keep up the great work! 👍 😀

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@timnoxel3387 Noted! Maybe I will try to add Franco (that's English characters/spelling for Arabic words) in the future. Probably not all the time as it gets to be too much, but I'm sure it would be useful to someone at some point. Yalla bina (that's how I spell it too) just means "let's go do it" essentially. The bina part is not necessary, but Egyptians say it sometimes, and it rolls off the tongue so many times I say it 😅I'm really glad my videos have been helpful, it strengthens my resolve to continue making videos and it's rewarding to hear they are useful in some sense, so thank you!!!

I do miss hearing the call to prayer. Do you ever get any illness from the food/water?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Heheh. I get asked that a lot. Honestly, I just love chaotic places, large cities and developing countries. Every day is an adventure and I thrive on the mayhem. It's why I loved India so much, it's why I love markets and also driving here, probably. I like a bit of a challenge. I also love the call to prayer, it's sounds so beautiful to me. I actually have rarely gotten sick in Egypt! Almost never, although I did get food poisoning once from....wait for it.....Dominoes! 🤣 I guess you just never know, haha. But I think I have a strong stomach, I love street food and eat it all over the world. After getting violently ill with Delhi belly in India a few years ago, I think I have become a lot more immune to foodborne illnesses. But I am always careful with water, and don't drink from the tap unless it's filtered.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I wouldn't stay in Nasr City, that's too far away. I prefer downtown, but Zamalek is still pretty close to everything while being tucked away on the island, so a little more quiet and green. No matter where you stay, you will almost always need an Uber to get somewhere, the distances are very large here. Unless you love walking a lot 😅 Zamalek you can walk around and explore a little but, same with downtown Cairo, but it's just going to be shops and restaurants and just observing daily life and the streets. When you actually want to get anywhere and have a destination in mind, you're probably going to need wheels of some kind. I don't know if you saw this video or not, but I talk about the neighborhoods I recommend a little bit. czcams.com/video/Il6pZFgyl_I/video.html
      Also, not sure what kind of traveler you are (old or young, preference of hotel or hostel, private room or dorm, etc). But if you don't mind staying in dorms, I made a video about my top 5 favorite hostels in downtown Cairo. Many of them have private rooms as well as dorms. Something to consider. czcams.com/video/zRG8qvqFNrc/video.html

    Hello ,love your channel, i have read there is some difficulties to make e-visa, some people simple just not getting approved,they apply again and got rejected and not getting any refund,some people even apply three times...is that just urban legends or reallity ?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Really? I have never heard of that happening. But to be fair, I don't know many people that get an e-visa in advance. Most people I know just get a visa on arrival (myself included) and if they want to stay longer they go to the immigration office and extend it.

    "Showaia Sukkr" you said
    He might understand it as a bit more sugar plz
    Instead you could say;
    Sukker Aolayy-ill
    Or simply say Sukker diet, most Egyptians understand diet, used in Egyptian daily conversions
    Aolayy-ill; in standard Arabic is قليل

    Do they sell at that one the cactus juice? I had that for the first time when I was in Egypt, I believe on my second trip there. LOL, not a fan of Turkish coffee though. I was thrilled when I found out Cairo has Dunkin Donuts there, and I love DD's coffee, so I was a happy camper. 😂 By the way how in the world do you drive on a motorbike in Cairo? You have some guts! I am not entirely sure what you mean by "that one cactus juice," this place as so many different types of juices it's ridiculous. I do love Turkish coffee, but I've always loved espresso and strong flavors in general. I learned how to drive a motorcycle here in Cairo. @@mahmutlevent4297 Oh haha, I see. That's thoughtful of you 🤲😁 Don't worry too much about the streets, people will stop in their cars for people crossing (even if it doesn't look like it 😅). You can also just find a local to cross the street with, that's usually my recommendation. There's always some Egyptian about to cross the street, just walk right next to them and easy peazy, you're on the other side.
      Glad to hear you're going to be visiting the temple of Hathor, that's my favorite temple!!! Not only is it absolutely stunning for multiple reasons, but there tends to be less tourists because it's a bit out of the way. Something I did not do (which I really screwed up!) was not seeing the relief of Cleopatra VII and Caesarion at the Dendera Temple. It's outside, in the back of the temple, make sure you see it while there!
